The purpose of this study was to delve into how to provide better and more oral health education to middle school students, and to boost school oral health projects. The subjects in this study were 430 middle schoolers. After their oral health awareness, knowledge and oral health care were investigated, the following findings were given: 1. Concerning concern for oral health, 56.7 percent were oral health conscious, and as many as 43.2 percent were little or never concerned about it. 2. As to subjective oral health status, 36.7 percent found their own oral health status to be good, and 63.3 percent had a periodontal disease or felt that there was something wrong with their oral health. Regarding self-assessed abnormal oral symptoms, 25.8 percent considered themselves to have an abnormal symptom related to temporomandibular joint, and approximately 30 percent thought there was something wrong with their gums. 3. As for toothbrushing habits, the number of the girls who brushed their teeth after lunch was statistically significantly far larger than that of the boys who did. There were some differences between the boys and girls in toothbrushing method and in which part of the oral cavity they brushed. 4. In regard to oral health knowledge, the girls(a mean of 7.05) significantly excelled the boys(6.36). Those who were more oral health conscious got significantly better scores in oral health knowledge. 5. In terms of dental-clinic visit experiences, the students who had ever visited a dental clinic took in less sugar and got a more frequent regular dental checkup(2.62, 2.50) than the others who hadn't(2.32, 1.74).

It is necessary that current oral health education should be not only focused on grade schoolers, but provided for even junior and senior high schools on regular basis in favor of higher level of knowledge about dental health and the habituation of oral health promotion behaviors. So this study took total 288 respondents as sample from Grade 3 of 'C' high school(Suncheon city, Jeonnam) to examine their experiences in oral health education, their awareness of needs for oral health education and their demands for oral health education in the interest of providing basic materials for effective oral health education. 1. As the result of researching health awareness, 13.9% respondents answered that they didn't have good total body health, while 33.3% respondents felt that they didn't have good oral health. That is, more respondents felt that their oral health is not good, rather than total body health is. 2. For daily toothbrushing frequency, it was found that most respondents(62.6%) brushed their teeth 3 times a day, And for toothbrushing methods, it was found that 35.5% used manual toothbrushing(up-and-down toothbrushing movement) and 30.0% used semi-automatic toothbrushing(rotational movement). On the other hand, majority(89.4%) of respondents conducted tongue brushing, but only 10.8% benefited from dental examination on regular basis. 3. 28.1% respondents had experiences in oral health education. Out of them, 69.3% felt moderate satisfaction at the education. Majority(91.2%) of respondents were instructed once in oral health education, and 82.7% respondents were instructed in the oral health via practices(toothbrushing guidance). 77.8% respondents were instructed in the oral health at dental clinics. 4. As the result of surveying demands related to oral health education, 92.3% respondents answered that they need regular oral health education, and 82.9% respondents answered that they need oral health technicians in school. And 87.8% respondents needed individual oral health education for the benefit of better oral health.
This study is to enforce to ready basic data of effective dental education program and no smoking and no drinking program for high school students who do smoking and drinking, executed investigation by own recording way using smoking and questionnaire consisted of actual conditions and caries prevention awareness and dental health knowledge degree of drinking to some man high school. Analyzes result that total 487 people respond in SPSS WIN 13.0 programs and got following sequence. Result of this study is as following. 1. Mans high school students had more students who do not than a drinking student and main current received most soju. Third-year student appeared by thing which receive a lot of soju than 1 or 2 class student but different other difference was not seen by class. 2. Mans high school students had more students who do not than a smoking student and a student who smoke more than 3 years was the most. I can know was old since third-year student smokes than 1 or 2 class student. 3. It was not difference that keep in mind by drinking, smoking availability although there were many students who recognize that all of the on-time dental medical examination, sugar intake limitation, fluorine inclusion toothpaste, teeth fluorine application are seldom effective on caries prevention. 4. Recognized that right brushing is effective relatively on caries prevention. I was shown difference that recognized that righter brushing is effective on bad tooth courtesy call than a student who a student who do not smoke does, and keeps in mind according to smoking availability ($x^2$=6.78, p<0.05). 5. I knew best about question of 'A caries may not treat if is painless' among that question ask knowledge for a caries, and appeared by thing which do not know best about question of 'Know that method that supply fluorine in water'. 6. A student who do not drink general dental know-how for a caries was high knowledge degree for a caries than a drunk student but it was no difference that keep in mind by drinking availability. Also, a student who do not smoke by smoking availability was high knowledge degree for a caries than a done student but difference that keep in mind statistically was not seen. 7. It was no difference that keep in mind by drinking availability, but a student who do not smoke by smoking availability was high relation knowledge degree with food and a caries than a smoked student, and I was shown difference that keep in mind according to smoking availability(t=-2.03, p<0.05). 8. Awareness and synthetic estimation degree of knowledge degree a student who do not smoke than a smoked student mouth knowledge degree high, and I was shown difference that keep in mind according to smoking availability(t=-2.03, p<0.05). When see as result such as singularity, family, school, all social institutions may have to help by national business coming and try so that can become national business based on special know-how for development of effective and epoch-making education program as quickly as possible.
This research surveyed 324 college students majored dental hygiene in Gwangju and Chonnam province to analyze their awareness and degree of practice about infection control. Through the study for recognition about infectious disease related with the grade, the sophomore students are the group who is the most aware. In addition, the study shows students who experienced teeth cleaning have high degree of awareness (p<0.05). The research of perception about infectious disease based on experiences for vaccinations and education about infection prevention says hepatitis B has the highest rate when it comes to level of occurrence risk and tuberculosis and acquired immune deficiency syndrome are the lowest (p<0.05). According to the research, the group who had vaccination, knowledge about infection prevention and experience for scaling shows high practice rate for hand washing according to whether students receive protective inoculation or not. Depending on what the result were, since student learned about infection control has high degree of recognition and practice about infection management if we could emphasize the importance to students through regulative education about infection control and then increase the degree of practice, it would make big contributions to the effective infection control.
In this research, dental health awareness of 3rd graders of high schools in Icheon-city was investigated in order to use the result of this research as the basic data for school dental health program, education direction, and educational purpose. The research was done from Sep. 23. to Oct. 5 and the followings are the results of survey. (1) 85.0% of the students brush their teeth once or twice a day and more female students brush their teeth 3 times a day than male students. (2) 77% of the students had experienced dental caries and 38.0% of the students have periodontal disease, which has lower percentage than cavity. (3) Most of the students can not go to the dentists because they do not have time and 84.0% of the students have been treated in dental clinics so this tells that most of the students had experienced dental treatment. (4) 46.8% of the students had interests in dental health and male students showed more interests than female students and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05). (5) Most of the students hear the importance and information of dental health from mass media such as TV and radio or from people around. The research shows that most of the students do not get periodic dental checkups. (6) 80.8% of the students had never taught dental health education for improvement of dental health and 76.2% of the students think that the dental health education is needed. There was no difference according to the gender. (7) Most of the students think that the dental health education is needed to prevent cavity and gingiva disease and it shows that more students tend to attend the dental health education. (8) 69.3% of the students think that brushing your teeth is important to maintain good dental health and there was no difference according to the gender. Most of the students weren't aware that periodic dental checkups, right brushing, and using fluoric toothpaste is effective for cavity protection. (9) After looking into the knowledge of the students on dental health, it shows that the knowledge is low and there is no difference according to the gender.
The purpose of this study was to examine the self-rated oral health status and oral health concern of 6,094 adults over the age of 19, which were both related to subjective oral health awareness, based on the second-year (2008) raw data of the 4th National Health and Nutrition Survey. 1. As for subjective oral health awareness, 49.4 percent replied they were in bad oral health when they were asked about self-rated oral health status. Regarding oral health concern, 62.6 percent answered they were sort of concerned about oral health. 2. As to oral health indexes by sociodemographic characteristics, there were statistically significant differences in oral health indexes according to gender, age, academic credential, monthly mean household income, frequency of eating between meals and toothbrushing frequency. Smoking made no statistically significant differences to oral health indexes (p<0.000). 3. Concerning self-rated oral health status by sociodemographic characteristics, no significant differences were found according to gender, age and academic credential, and there were statistically significant differences according to monthly mean household income and smoking (p<0.000), frequency of eating between meals (p<0.018), toothbrushing frequency (p<0.003). 4. In relation to oral health concern by sociodemographic characteristics, gender and smoking made no significant differences, and statistically significant differences were found according to age (p<0.003), academic credential, monthly mean household income, frequency of eating between meals and toothbrushing frequency (p<0.000). 5. In regard to the relationship between subjective oral health awareness and oral health indexes, none of the oral health indexes had a significant relationship to self-rated oral health status, and there were statistically significant differences in oral health concern according to functioning teeth index (p<0.011) and community periodontal index (p<0.017).
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between oral health habits and oral diseases in an attempt to raise awareness of the need for prolonged dental checkup projects and lay the foundation for oral health education and sustained oral health care projects. The subjects in this study were 2,643 workers from 76 workplaces in Siwha Industrial Complex in the city of Ansan, Gyeonggi province, who were at the age of 20 and up. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. Concerning the experience of visiting a dental clinic over the past year, 760 male workers (37.4%) and 237 females (38.9%) visited dental clinics in the past year. By age group, those who were in their 50s (54.0%) visited dental clinics the most, and the workers in their 30s (67.9%) paid a visit the least. The gap between the age groups was statistically significant (p < 0.001). 2. In regard to the time for toothbrushing by age group, the workers in their 20s (64.6%) made up the largest group that brushed their teeth before breakfast, and those who were in their 60s and up constituted the greatest group that did toothbrushing after breakfast. The workers in their 20s brushed their teeth the least, as the rates of the workers of this age group who did toothbrushing after breakfast and dinner respectively stood at 64.0 percent and 54.5 percent. The disparities between the age groups were statistically significant (p < 0.001). 3. As for scaling experience for the past year, 302(46.0%) out of the workers who got their teeth scaled in the past year had periodontal diseases, and 1,600(80.6%) out of those who didn't suffered from periodontal diseases. The gap between them was statistically significant (p < 0.001). 4. Regarding the relationship of subjective oral health state to dental caries among the workers without dental caries, the largest group that numbered 327(54.1%) considered themselves to be in good oral health. In the event of the workers with dental caries, the greatest group that numbered 708(75.5%) found themselves to have one or more carious tooth(teeth). The disparity between them was statistically significant (p < 0.001). 5. As for connections between dietary habits and dental caries, those who had dental caries (2.29) showed a greater preference for snack than the others who hadn't (2.21). The preference for snack made a bigger statistically significant difference to dental caries than the other dietary habits (p < 0.05).
Objectives : This study was carried out in order to contribute to preventing dental caries, which is the biggest disease in adolescence and to promoting oral health by implanting a right habit on oral care targeting adolescents, and further to offer basic help to proceeding with making the better health life. Methods : This study carried out questionnaire survey targeting 1,100 students of middle schools where are located in small and medium-sized cities of Gyeongnam from March 7-18, 2011. Statistical processing was performed frequency analysis and cross tabulation, by using SPSSWIN 12.0 program. Results : As for middle school students' oral health education experience, the group with educational experience was indicated to be 52.9% for girl students and 47.1% for boy students(p<.05) in case of gender. Toothbrushing time was indicated to be the highest with 25.6% in 'after having breakfast'. The appearance of toothbrushing after having lunch at school was indicated to be 53.3% for girl students and 26.3% for boy students(p<.001) by gender. The most important reason for toothbrushing accounted for 82.1% in the 1st grade, 71.1% in the 2nd grade, and 67.4% in the 3rd grade depending on school year as for the response as saying of 'aiming to prevent decayed tooth and gum disease.' Thus, the lower school year led to having indicated to be higher in response as saying of brushing teeth for preventing decayed tooth and gum disease(p<.001). As for a toothbrushing method by gender, boy students accounted for 24.2% in response as saying of 'brushing teeth freely', thereby having been indicated to be higher than 15.0% for girl students(p<.001). Conclusions : In order for toothbrushing method to be rightly practiced and habituated continuously, there will be a need of changing adolescents' awareness and of being driven systematically and continuously through oral health education. School oral health education, which can nurture right attitude and habit of oral health care, is thought to be necessarily expanded and executed.
To get the evidences for decreasing the discomfort, dissatisfaction, and for improving management of the implant prothesis through assessment implant patients' awareness and discomforts about care of the prostheses. The subjects were 300 implant patients who treated in the 20 dental clinics in Pusan, Ulsan and Daegu. The general characteristics, recognition, maintenance, discomfort and dissatisfaction, and oral hygiene status were collected. Level of the discomfort and dissatisfaction was measured by a 5 Likert scale, and analyzed by the equivalent of 100. The life-span of the implants was overestimated, however, periodic recall check and scaling were underwent. The level of discomfort and dissatisfaction was generally good, but many of them (65.3%) complained the food impaction. As a result of the multiple regression analysis, level of the discomfort and dissatisfaction increased in case of more number of the prosthesis ($\beta$=0.864), however decreased in case of more frequent teeth brushing ($\beta$=0.737), more frequent periodic check ($\beta$=-0.737), longer duration from the implantation ($\beta$=-0.090). It is very important for the implant patients to be recognized that the lack of care may shorten the life-span of the implant prosthesis. Therefore, efforts of the continuous oral hygiene care such as, periodic recall check, scaling, teeth brushing, the correct using of additional oral hygiene product, and education would be more emphasized.

School nurses can play an important role in improving the prognosis of traumatized teeth of school children when they are informed about the immediate and proper dental first aid steps. The purpose of this study were to assess the awareness of school nurses concerning the management of traumatized teeth and to determine if a lecture on dental trauma management could improve school nurses'knowledge on this topic. School nurses in Gwangju and Jeonnam province completed a questionnaire before and after the lecture on the first-aid knowledge with particular focus on the following three categories. Questionnaires are composed of questions asking general information and about knowledge and proper attitude in case of the specific situation on dental trauma. According to previous studies, school nurses' knowledge tended to be higher compared with the teachers. Improvement of knowledge in school nurse was observed in emergency actions, in visiting time, replantation, carriage method, vaccine prescription related with luxation, and in possibility of fragment reattachment related with subluxation and fracture. In conclusion, it is recommended that periodical education are needed for improvement of school nurses'knowledge on proper management of dental trauma emergency.
