Effect of ligand orientation on hepatocyte attachment onto the poly(N-p-vinyl benzyl-o-$\beta$-D-galactopyranosyl-D-gluconamide)

  • The orientation effect of galactose ligand on hepatocyte attachment was investigated. Poly(N-p-vinyl benzyl-o-${\beta}$-D-galactopyranosyl-D-gluconamide) (PVLA), a ${\beta}$-galactose-carrying styrene homo-polymer, was used as a model ligand for the asialoglycoprotein receptors on hepatocytes. PYVA was transferred onto the poly(${\gamma}$-benzyl L-glutamate)(PBLG) or PBLG/ poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG)/PBLG Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films as the monolayer level. The dichroic fluorescence values of confocal microscope indicated that the PVLA transferred onto the LB films was located with a preferential orientation of its molecular axes with regard to the direction of the a-helix of polypeptide. Hepatocyte recognized well-oriented galactose moieties of the surface of PVLA through asialoglycoprotein receptors.

  • The DEVS formalism has the well-defined relationship between its model and simulator. However, it does not define the connection between its model and experimental frame needed when a simulator's implemented with it. So, in most DEVS based simulators, the modules of the two parts are tangled, so that changing and reusing them is not easy. This paper proposes a method to improve the changeability of the experimental frame and the reusability of the model by modularizing the two parts using the AOP technology. I applied the new method to a real project, and the result shows that it improves the two qualities effectively than before.

  • 최근 비연결지향형(Connectionless)의 IP 상에 연결지향형(Connection-oriented)의 LSP 를 지원하는 MPLS(Multi-Protocol Label Switching) 서비스에 대한 관심이 증가되고 있다. 이는 트래픽 엔지니어링(TE: Traffic Engineering)과 Qos(Quality of Service) 제공 등의 향상된 서비스에 대한 요구사항이 증가하면서, 이에 적합한 차세대 인터넷 서비스의 효율적인 제공 방안으로 IETF 에서 표준화하고 있는 MPLS 기술이 대두되고 있기 때문이다. 이러한 사용자의 요구사항을 만족하기 위하여 한국전자통신 연구원에서는 ACE2000 MPLS 시스템을 개발했으며, 초고속망에 적용되는 MPLS 시스템을 관리하기 위한 관리 시스템을 개발하였다. 본 논문에서는 SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) 기반의 MPLS 망 관리 시스템과 트래픽 엔지니어링 관리 기능을 중심으로 관리 대상, 관리 수행 절차 등을 설명한다.

Visualization Analysis of Correlation between Fiber Orientation Angles and Flow Patterns by Gate-Magnetization Method

  • This paper presents the results of a visualization analysis of the correlation between the fiber orientation and flow pattern in injection molding using the Gate-magnetization method developed for the precise visualization of melt flow. The results of the comparisons of the fiber orientation angles with the flow patterns by the Gate-Magnetization method for GPPS mixed with glass fibers show the strong correlation between the flow patterns and fiber orientation angles. According to forward movement of the flow, the fiber orientation patterns move toward the side walls following the flow patterns.   • C-axis-oriented ZnO thin films were successfully deposited on p-Si (100) in an RF magnetron sputtering system. Deposition conditions such as deposition power, working pressure, and oxygen gas ratio were varied. Crystalline structures of the deposited ZnO films were investigated by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) technique. Results show that the deposition parameters can have a strong impact on the preferred orientations and grain sizes of the deposited ZnO films.

A Study of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Path Planning using Reinforcement Learning

  • Currently drone industry has become one of the fast growing markets and the technology for unmanned aerial vehicles are expected to continue to develop at a rapid rate. Especially small unmanned aerial vehicle systems have been designed and utilized for the various field with their own specific purposes. In these fields the path planning problem to find the shortest path between two oriented points is important. In this paper we introduce a path planning strategy for an autonomous flight of unmanned aerial vehicles through reinforcement learning with self-positioning technique. We perform Q-learning algorithm, a kind of reinforcement learning algorithm. At the same time, multi sensors of acceleraion sensor, gyro sensor, and magnetic are used to estimate the position. For the functional evaluation, the proposed method was simulated with virtual UAV environment and visualized the results. The flight history was based on a PX4 based drones system equipped with a smartphone.

  • The production of high quality oil to meet new standard needs a 'next generation' innovative oil refining tool in paradigm shift. 'Nanoneutralization' using controlled hydrodynamic cavitation-assisted Nanoreactor is successfully being introduced and commercialized into edible oil industry and it plays a key driver for sustainable development of food processing. This emerging technology using bubble dynamics as a consequence of Bernoulli's principle by hydrodynamic cavitation in Venturi-designed multi-flow through cell is radically changing the conventionally chemical-oriented neutralization. Nanoneutralization derived by the creation of nanometer-sized bubbles formed through scientifically structured geometric channels under high pressure has been proven to improve mass transfer and reaction rate so substantially reduce the chemicals required for refined vegetable oil and to increase oil yield while even improving oil quality. More researches on science behind this revolutionary technology will help usto better understand the principle and process hence makes its potential applications expandable in extraction, refining and modification of fats and oils processing.

  • GMES 는 유한차분시간영역 방법의 객체지향적 구현이다. 기존의 구현에선 점별(piecewise) 갱신방식을 사용해서 물성 표현 능력은 우수하지만, 계산 시간과 메모리 요구량에서 큰 약점이 있었다. 구분별(piecewise) 갱신 방식을 반영해 설계를 변경한 결과 물성 표현 능력은 기존과 같은 수준으로 유지하면서 70~90%에 이르는 계산 속도 개선과 사용 메모리 감소의 효과를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 클라우드 컴퓨팅 (Cloud Computing)은 언제 어디서든 인터넷을 통하여 필요한 컴퓨팅 자원을 원하는 시간만큼 활용할 수 있는 최신 컴퓨팅 방식으로 사용자에게 효율적인 컴퓨팅 자원을 제공한다. 또한 빅데이터 및 인공지능 분야에서의 활용도가 높아 4차 산업혁명의 기초 인프라로 부각되고 있다. 클라우드의 독립적인 컴퓨팅 자원을 하이퍼바이저 (Hypervisor)를 통해 효율적으로 관리한다. 본 논문에서는 클라우드 하이퍼바이저에 대한 공격 기법인 커널 기반 루트킷, 캐시 기반 부 채널 공격, ROP (Return oriented Programming) 공격의 공격 방법과 대응 방안을 분석한다. 이후 기존에 연구된 하이퍼바이저 보안을 위한 클라우드 컴퓨팅 아키텍처를 소개하고, 하이퍼바이저 구조의 취약점에 대해 고찰한다. 마지막으로 하이퍼바이저 기반 클라우드 컴퓨팅 아키텍처의 문제점과 해결방안을 고찰한다.

Characterization of elastic modulus and fracture toughness of randomly oriented chopped glass fibers functionally graded materials

  • A cost-effective fabrication method suitable for research purposes is proposed in this study. The elastic modulus of the fabricated functionally graded materials is evaluated and compared using two experimental methods: the three-point bending test and the tensile test, with a focus on the fiber volume fraction of the FGM layers. New methods for computing the elastic modulus are introduced, which are based on Castigliano's theorem and the secant modulus concept, incorporating the non-linear behavior of the material. Additionally, the mode I fracture toughness of the FGM layers is measured accurately using the three-point bending test and finite element analysis, and the influence of varying fiber volume fractions on this parameter is investigated through statistical analysis. Results indicate that while an increase in fiber volume fraction correlates with a rise in elastic modulus, it does not necessarily lead to an enhancement in mode I fracture toughness, highlighting the complex interactions between material composition and mechanical properties.
