An Inquiry-Oriented Approach to Differential Equations: Contributions to Teaching University Mathematics through Teaching Experiment Methodology (탐구 지향 미분방정식의 개발 실제: 교수실험을 통한 접근)

  • During the past decades, there has been a fundamental change in the objectives and nature of mathematics education, as well as a shift in research paradigms. The changes in mathematics education emphasize learning mathematics from realistic situations, students' invention or construction solution procedures, and interaction with other students of the teacher. This shifted perspective has many similarities with the theoretical . perspective of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) developed by Freudental. The RME theory focused the guide reinvention through mathematizing and takes into account students' informal solution strategies and interpretation through experientially real context problems. The heart of this reinvention process involves mathematizing activities in problem situations that are experientially real to students. It is important to note that reinvention in a collective, as well as individual activity, in which whole-class discussions centering on conjecture, explanation, and justification play a crucial role. The overall purpose of this study is to examine the developmental research efforts to adpat the instructional design perspective of RME to the teaching and learning of differential equation is collegiate mathematics education. Informed by the instructional design theory of RME and capitalizes on the potential technology to incorporate qualitative and numerical approaches, this study offers as approach for conceptualizing the learning and teaching of differential equation that is different from the traditional approach. Data were collected through participatory observation in a differential equations course at a university through a fall semester in 2003. All class sessions were video recorded and transcribed for later detailed analysis. Interviews were conducted systematically to probe the students' conceptual understanding and problem solving of differential equations. All the interviews were video recorded. In addition, students' works such as exams, journals and worksheets were collected for supplement the analysis of data from class observation and interview. Informed by the instructional design theory of RME, theoretical perspectives on emerging analyses of student thinking, this paper outlines an approach for conceptualizing inquiry-oriented differential equations that is different from traditional approaches and current reform efforts. One way of the wars in which thus approach complements current reform-oriented approaches 10 differential equations centers on a particular principled approach to mathematization. The findings of this research will provide insights into the role of the mathematics teacher, instructional materials, and technology, which will provide mathematics educators and instructional designers with new ways of thinking about their educational practice and new ways to foster students' mathematical justifications and ultimately improvement of educational practice in mathematics classes.

Effects of Target Density and Strand Size on Properties of Oriented Strand Board Composed of Thinned Wood of Larix leptolepis Gordon (낙엽송(落葉松) 간벌목(間伐木)을 원료(原料)로 한 Oriented Strand Board(OSB)의 목표밀도(目標密度)와 Strand Size가 OSB의 재질(材質)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • This study was to manufacture thinned wood of Larix leptolepis Gordon into Oriented Strand Board(OSB) with Urea-Formaldehyde Resin. The OSB was made of four kinds of strand in slenderness ratio 150 ; thickness $0.3{\pm}0.05mm$, $0.4{\pm}0.05mm$, $0.5{\pm}0.05mm$ and $0.6{\pm}0.05mm$, respectively length 45mm, 60mm, 75mm and 90mm. Target densities were 0.65gr/$cm^3$, 0.75gr/$cm^3$ and 0.85gr/$cm^3$. The stepwise 9 minutes-multi-pressing schedule in the maximum pressure 40kgf/$cm^2$, the minimum pressure 10kgf/$cm^2$ was applied for $400mm{\times}390mm{\times}12mm$ board at the temperature of $150^{\circ}C$ in a hot press. In MOR The OSB of thin strand thickness $0.3{\pm}0.05mm$(length 45mm) and density 0.85gr/$cm^3$ was the highest. The strand thickness had more effect on MOR than the strand length. In strand thickness $0.4{\pm}0.05mm$(length 60mm) and density 0.85gr/$cm^3$ was the highest MOE. The strand thickness and length had adverse effects on MOE each other. At internal bonding. The OSB of strand thickness $0.3{\pm}0.05mm$(length 45mm) and board density 0.75gr/$cm^3$ showed the highest value. OSB had higher IB value with thinner strand thickness. The thinner strand thickness showed the lower thickness swelling in turn $0.3{\pm}0.05mm$(length 45mm), $0.4{\pm}0.05mm$(length 60mm), $0.5{\pm}0.05mm$(length 75mm). $0.6{\pm}0.05mm$(length 90mm). Target densities 0.75gr/$cm^3$ 0.65gr/$cm^3$, 0.85gr/$cm^3$ showed in turn lower value. Finally, The OSB made of thinned wood of Larix leptolepis Gordon showed good results in laboratory experiment.

A Study on the Relationships between Time Perspective of College Students and Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy (창업교육이 대학생의 창업효능감과 시간관에 미치는 영향)

  • Personal time perspective is a factor influencing motivation and goal-oriented behavior. The start-up process is a preparatory process for the future rather than the present. There will be a difference in entrepreneurial decision making depending on the level of time perspective. This study verified the relationship between individual 's time perspective and entrepreneurial self-efficacy. For this study, a survey was conducted with 190 students in college. To test the hypothesis, t-test, one-way analysis of variance and correlation analysis were used. The results of the study are as follows. First, we analyzed the difference of individual 's time by past-negative, past-positive, present-fatalistic, present-hedonistic, and future-oriented time. As a result of analysis, the more experience of entrepreneurship education, the higher the present-fatalistic, present-hedonistic, and future-oriented level. Second, the effect of individual's time perspective on entrepreneurial self-efficacy was analyzed. The past-negative and present-fatalistic level influenced negative on entrepreneurial self-efficacy. The present-hedonistic and future-oriented level influenced positive on entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Finally, based on the above results, academic significance, implications and limitations are suggested.

  • Manufacturing conb'ol applications consist of concurrent active components such as robots, AGV's (Automatic Guided Vehicles), and conveyors. Running of manufacturing control programs is interactions among those components. We can enhance the productivity and extendability of manufacturing control applications by using the object-oriented teclmology that models those components as reusable objects. But the objects in current object-oriented technology that encapsulate state and behavior infonnation are passive in a sense that those respond only when messages are sent to them. In this paper, we introduce the Distributed Active Object Systems (DAGS) approach that SUPPOltS active objects. Since active objects encapsulate control infonnation in addition to state and behavior information under COREA/Java-based distributed environment, they can represent manufacturing control components better than the objects in ordimuy object-oriented technology. TIus control infonnation provides an object with a featme that can monitor its own status as well as other object's status connected by intelface valiables. Active objects can initiate a behavior according to the change of those status. Therefore, we can sb-uctmally assemble self-initiating active objects by using intelface variables to construct a system without describing bow to control distributed objects by using message passing. As the DAOS approach supports object composability, we can enhal1ce the productivity and extendability of disbibuted manufactming control applications even better than the ordil1alY object-oriented approach. Also, the DAOS approach supports better component reusability with active objects that encapsulate control information .

  • Research and development projects, in the past decade, has shown that object-oriented(OO) technology could importantly contribute in productivity and reusability improvement. There are various research areas related to OO technology. Two of major research fields in this areas are concerned in issues for CASE tools and component-based technologies. This paper discusses an example of applying component-based technology to a CASE tool. This paper proposes the research experience gained while we have incrementally developing OODesigner, an OO CASE tool, with compound document support functionality based on COM/OLE technology. As OODesigner with OLE container functionality has interoperability with other application programs of Windows system which can be run as a OLE server, it can provide more powerful documentation environment than other CASE tools. OODesigner can be used not only to design UML diagrams, but also to make documentation cooperatively with various kinds of OLE- enabled software like Recoder and Excel. Therefore we can conduct powerful and consistent documentation with the tool.

  • National R&D Projects provide the central axis to weave the valuable information derived from variable projects and their participants. Thus to efficiently manage and utilize the National R&D information, the project-oriented management system has to be established and its information must to be articulated with each other. Using the connected relations the system can provide an efficient way to easily gain and share the information. To do this the National R&D information management systems and the identifier management system must to be builded and the common services and functions connecting the systems have to be provided. On this study, by defining these constituents and their relationships we're going to establish the base of promotion of National R&D Information utilization.

  • International Civil Aviation Organization adopted the program to improve performance of aviation-related data systems through the ASBU for 20 years from 2013. Research and development for integrated management network of aeronautical telecommunication data through SWIM(System Wide Information Management) technology which is part of program, are being progressed in the United States and European countries. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest a method of testbed implementation based on technology of aeronautical data services architecture applied the concept of SOA(Service Oriented Architecture), development of future data management model for integrated management of aeronautical data, and development of user-centric integrated aeronautical data management network through adapter technology for interoperating legacy aeronautical data system to develop even technology with development trends of advanced countries.

Research on the R&D Support Plan for Disabled Enterprise (장애인기업의 연구개발 지원 방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the current status and R&D activities of disabled enterprise, and to find ways to support R&D. Through this study, the company's demand for R&D and the characteristics of companies with active R&D activities were derived, and the research and development support plan was proposed by integrating them. As a result of comparing the location quotient (LQ) of small and medium-sized businesses and disabled enterprise by industry, the number of workers with disabilities showed great specialization by business type. R&D was active in companies with sales of over 2 billion won in four industries including manufacturing. As a result of the research, R&D support for disabled enterprise needs to be supported by categorizing them into field-hardened technology-oriented and innovative technology-oriented, depending on the type of business and the size of the company.

Efficient Provisioning for Multicast Virtual Network under Single Regional Failure in Cloud-based Datacenters

  • Network virtualization technology plays a key role in cloud computing, which serves as an effective approach for provisioning a flexible and highly adaptable shared substrate network to satisfy the demands of various applications or services. Recently, the problem of mapping a virtual network (VN) onto a substrate network has been addressed by various algorithms. However, these algorithms are typically efficient for unicast service-oriented virtual networks, and generally not applicable to multicast service-oriented virtual networks (MVNs). Furthermore, the survivable MVN mapping (SMVNM) problem that considers the survivability of MVN has not been studied and is also the focus of this work. In this research, we discuss SMVNM problem under regional failures in the substrate network and propose an efficient algorithm for solving this problem. We first propose a framework and formulate the SMVNM problem with the objective of minimizing mapping cost by using mixed integer linear programming. Then we design an efficient heuristic to solve this problem and introduce several optimizations to achieve the better mapping solutions. We validate and evaluate our framework and algorithms by conducting extensive simulations on different realistic networks under various scenarios, and by comparing with existing approaches. Our simulation experiments and results show that our approach outperforms existing solutions.

Consumer's Demands for the T-Commerce By the Technology Adoption Types (소비자의 기술혁신수용 유형에 따른 T-Commerce 수요도)

  • The purpose of study is to investigate the customer oriented transaction environment for the customers' convenience, the plan of public policy in regard to the customer oriented T-Commerce, and the consumption pattern of customers' commercial transaction, necessary for the marketing strategy by analyzing the demand for the T-Commerce with the purchase intention and maximum willingness to pay according to the demographic factors, the pattern of commercial transaction, and the technology innovation types. The results showed that there were statistically significant relations between consumer's willingness price to pay for the T-commerce and the consumer's technology adoption types, monthly internet shopping amounts, and weekly TV-home shopping hours. The simulations on a basis of multiple regression analysis for the T-commerce were illustrated by those factors.
