  • This study investigates the future world of The Perfect Society (1967), science fiction written by Yunsung Moon that was a very rare science fiction publication in the 1960s. In The Perfect society, the main character Woo Sungoo, who was chosen to survive in a sleeping capsule as a representative of $20^{th}-century$ human beings, wakes in the $22^{nd}$ century where only women remain. He experiences this female utopia and finds that this world still contains as much abnormal antipathy to the others and absolute autocracy as the 20th-century world he remembers even though the future people succeed in overcoming the past problems like famine and pollution. The author warns that science alone without humanistic insight in a unity-oriented society cannot settle the human's fate; rather, it only changes the aspects of human conflict.

  • The disaster and safety R&D budget has continued to increase since 2008, but the fire safety R&D budget is a small part. Therefore, successful outcomes that could lead to the economic growth of the fire safety industry have not been achieved. This paper suggests a fire safety R&D budget expansion, reinforcement of R&D capacity, and performance growing plan by analyzing the factors that affect the performance of a fire safety R&D project. Empirical analysis was performed through one-way ANOVA and regression analysis using the statistical program, SPSS statistics 21.0. As a result, this study suggests that the continuous expansion of R&D funds and the securing of excellent trained research manpower will be necessary to obtain qualitatively superior patents and papers.

  • The use of drone-bots is demanded in times regarding the reduction of military force, the spread of the life-oriented thought, and the use of innovative technology in the defense through the fourth industrial revolution. Especially, the drone's surveillance and reconnaissance are expected to play a big role in the future battlefield. However, there are not many cases in which the concept of operation is studied scientifically. In this study, We propose search algorithms for reconnaissance drone through simulation analysis. In the simulation, the drone and target move linearly in continuous space, and the target is moving adopting the Random-walk concept to reflect the uncertainty of the battlefield. The research investigates the effectiveness of existing search methods such as Parallel and Spiral Search. We analyze the probabilistic analysis for detector radius and the speed on the detection probability. In particular, the new detection algorithms those can be used when an enemy moves toward a specific goal, PS (Probability Search) and HS (Hamiltonian Search), are introduced. The results of this study will have applicability on planning the path for the reconnaissance operations using drone-bots.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the tasks developed through task development activities with emphasis on mathematical connectivity, and to provide implications for teacher education to enhance teacher's competence. For this purpose, I analyzed the task developed by 52 pre-teachers through the activities. As a result, they combined mathematics with 'other subjects', 'mathematics', 'phenomenon', 'technology' and 'real life'. And they also made various internal connections of 'Different representation', 'Part-whole relationship', 'Implication', 'Procedure', and 'Instruction-oriented connection'. From the point of view of teacher knowledge, the study revealed that CCK and SCK were positive in terms of 'logical' and 'expression', and KCT as 'strategic' was meaningful but disappointing in diversity; however in terms of 'level', the KCS was limited due to tasks that did not meet the level of students. As such, this analysis reveals that teachers continue to struggle with understanding students' level, but exhibit little difficulty with 'logic', 'expression' and 'strategy. This being the case, teacher education needs to place additional emphasis in understanding students' levels and planning corresponding activities.

  • Structural fuses are made up from oriented steel plates to be used to resist seismic force with shear loading resistance capabilities. The damage and excessive inelastic deformations are concentrated in structural fuses to avoid any issues for the rest of the surrounding elements. Recently developed fuse plates are designed with engineered cutouts leaving flexural or shear links with controlled yielding features. A promising type of link is proposed to align better bending strength along the length of the link with the demand moment diagram is a butterfly-shaped link. Previously, the design methodologies are purely based on the flexural stresses, or shear stresses only, which overestimate the dampers capability for resisting against the applied loadings. This study is specifically focused on the optimized design methodologies for commonly used butterfly-shaped dampers. Numerous studies have shown that the stresses are not uniformly distributed along the length of the dampers; hence, the design methodology and the effective implementation of the steel need revisions and improvements. In this study, the effect of shear and flexural stresses on the behavior of butterfly-shaped links are computationally investigated. The mathematical models based on von-Mises yielding criteria are initially developed and the optimized design methodology is proposed based on the yielding criterion. The optimized design is refined and investigated with the aid of computational investigations in the next step. The proposed design methodology meets the needs of optimized design concepts for butterfly-shaped dampers considering the uniform stress distribution and efficient use of steel.

  • The fourth industrial revolution era calls for the ability to solve problems creatively based on basic literacy for technology. These capabilities can be enhanced through the maker education linked to SW education STEM convergence education. Meanwhile, one of the tasks that must be set prior to the maker education is to take an educational approach rather than a tech-centric approach and consider ways to stimulate interest and motivation of the participants. For this purpose, this study developed and applied an engineering-oriented Reading & Maker education program to prospective teachers so that they could participate in active making activities on their own with interest and sympathy rather than simply guiding maker activities. As a result of the study, the results of the maker education recognition survey after the application of the program showed a statistically significant improvement(p<.000).

  • The introduction of digital technologies affects most socio-economic processes and activities in the economy, from agriculture to public services. Even though the world is currently only in the early stages of digital transformation, the digital economy is growing rapidly, especially in developing countries. Shortly, digital platforms will be able to replace the "invisible hand" of the market and turn it into digital. Some digital platforms have already reached global reach in some sectors of the economy. The growing value of data and artificial intelligence is reflected in the high capitalization of these enterprises. Their growing role has far-reaching consequences for the organization of economic activity and integration into the field of e-business. However, their importance and level of development in different countries differ significantly. The main purpose of this article is an assessment of the level and trends of the digital economy in the world and the identification of homogeneous groups of states following the main trends in the development of its components from among the EU countries. The methodology of the conducted research is based on the use of general scientific research methods in the analysis of secondary sources and the application of statistical methods of correlation-regression and cluster analysis. Macroeconomic indicators and components of DESI (Digital Economy and Society Index) were used for the analysis. Results. Based on the analysis established that most developed countries have a medium level of digitalization of the business environment and a high level of digitalization of socially oriented public services, while countries with lower GDP focus their policies on building digital infrastructure and training qualified personnel. The study summarizes and analyzes current trends in digital technology, analyzes the level and dynamics of integration of digital technologies of the studied EU countries, the level of development of e-business and e-commerce. The conceptualization of mechanisms of creation of added value in the digital economy is offered and the possible consequences of digitalization of the economy of developing countries are generalized.

  • The SDN(Software Defined Networking) technology, which appeared to overcome the limitations of the existing network system, resolves the rigidity of the existing system through the separation of HW and SW in network equipment. These characteristics of SDN provide wide scalability beyond hardware-oriented network equipment, and provide flexible load balancing policies in data centers of various sizes. In the meantime, many studies have been conducted to apply the advantages of SDN to data centers and have shown their effectiveness. The method mainly used in previous studies was to periodically check the server load and perform load balancing based on this. In this method, the more the number of servers and the shorter the server load check cycle, the more traffic increases. In this paper, we propose a new load balancing technique that can eliminate unnecessary traffic and manage server resources more efficiently by reporting to the controller when a specific level of load occurs in the server to solve this limitation.

  • In recent years, urban regeneration is focused on smart and pedestrian oriented development utilizing various mobility technology. The characteristics of walkways needs to reflect such development orientations. This research is the first step to find an adequate slope for ramp replacing stairs and shared by pedestrians, personal mobilities and powered wheelchairs. It aims to check if ramps on a recommended degree of angle by general guidelines are more preferred than stairs and find out what make difference of such preferences. Two surveys were conducted at $9^{\circ}$ and $9.6^{\circ}$ ramps coexisted with stairs at sequential and parallel location. The study on the survey result found that the general evaluation of $9^{\circ}$ ramp was better than $9.6^{\circ}$ ramp but $9^{\circ}$ ramp was not preferred than stairs while $9.6^{\circ}$ ramps was preferred. The difference of preferences was related to characteristics of stairs. The stair with shorter tread and riser next to $9^{\circ}$ ramp was evaluated much better than stairs next to $9.6^{\circ}$ ramp. Therefore the research concludes that $10.0^{\circ}$ which many guidelines recommend for the maximum slop of a ramp was not adequate for a ramp to replace stairs as a preferred means of vertical circulation. In addition the research found that the preference was sensitive to moving direction and gender especially in regards to comfort of stairs and safety of ramp. Most pedestrians chose a means of vertical circulation based on its comfort but pedestrian's evaluation of safety was most different based on moving direction.
