A design concept on object database of measurement data for building a safety management network of road bridges (도로 교량의 안전관리 네트워크 구축을 위한 계측자료의 객체 데이터베이스 설계 개념)

  • In this study, we analyzed applicability of object database, designed the concept model based on object-oriented idea for measurement data management, and applied the design model to object database. The concept model composes three sub models Infrastructure managing information model, Infrastructure measurement data model, and Measurement unit model. The process to expand measurement data of new type was executed easily without changing database schema in object database. Therefore, applicability of new technology to infrastructures for building a safety management network of road bridges could be increased with object database system.

Characteristics of Sulfide Stress Corrosion Cracking of High Strength Pipeline Steel Weld

  • The sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC) resistance of API X70 grade steel weldment has been studied using SSCC test in NACE TM-O177 method A. Also, microstructures and hardness distribution of weldment was investigated. The microstructure of SAW joint composed ferrite, pearlite and some MA constituent. Instead of hardening in CGHAZ, softening on the HAZ near base metal occurred. The low carbon TMCP type steel used for SAW showed softening behaviour in the HAZ adjacent to base metal, which was known to be closely related with the SOHIC (stress oriented hydrogen induced cracking). The SSC testing revealed that the API X70 SAW weld was suitable for sour service, satisfying the NACE requirements. By suppressing softening in the ICHAZ region, the SSCC resistance of low carbon TMCP steel welded joints could be more improved.

  • In the customer-centered era, financial institutions have understood the importance of Customer Relationship Management(CRM), and heavily invested into building the required technology infrastructure more than ever. In a competitive environment that are changing fast, knowledge management is necessary. To know customers' needs and desire, we have to approach their environment and mind, and the method by estimating in terms of supposing or imitating. Applying customers' knowledge is effective and will come up with a stepping-stone to get rid of threatening factors by having competitiveness in a competitive environment and extending and changing the corporation. This purpose, the study has identified knowledge-oriented infra that corporations know and customer relations by conducting a poll of local corporations and have presented motives that can effectively carry out knowledge-based customer relations. To gain competitive advantage, these Institutions need to understand their customers' potential value to find out more and to recognize the significant changes of customer. Then the CRM implementation will help Financial Institutions move to more of a sales culture away from product and closer to the customer.

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest field-oriented policy of regional innovation support system. To accomplish this purpose, we examined the status quo of technical support ,performance satisfaction of consumers and practical issues. The key factors influencing core technical innovation of small and medium firms are development fund, R&D employees, experimental instrument, technical information, protection of intellectual property, subcontracting and so on. To make sure of practical effect, therefore, it would rather necessary to implement policy support linking government and supporting means on the ground of needs of small and medium firms than specific method such as funding.

  • Because of rapid development of software technology, a number of software professionals have been concerned with component-based development methodologies. Up to date, the evaluation of component quality has been focused on object-oriented metric based methodology. But this paper presents the selection process and evaluation criteria based on an MCDM(Multiple Criteria Decision Making) technique for the selection of optimal COTS component from consumers' viewpoints. We considered functionality, efficiency and usability based on ISO/IEC 9126 for quality measurement and conducted practical analysis into commercial EJB component in internet. This paper shows that the proposed selection technique is applicable for the selection of the optimal COTS component.

  • In this study, we focused on the graphing calculator to support the activity-oriented mathematics instruction with considering the accessibility of technology. The purpose of this study was to investigate the direction of the education of mathematics teachers. For this, we gave the teacher training for mathematics using graphing calculators for secondary mathematics teachers, and then examined the recognition for that of teachers. Teacher training of the graphing calculator was carried out three times in two years, we conducted a survey immediately at the time that has passed and after the 8 months or more after the training. As a result, we have obtained the suggestions of the advantages of using a graphing calculator in the learning mathematics, the difficulties of use of the graphing calculator in the classroom and the form of teacher training they want.

  • Effect of the several initial textures such as random texture, rolling texture and cube texture, on the plane strain stretching was studied by interpretation of the finite element method. The calculation of yield locus indicated that the sheet oriented in the cube texture exhibits easy yielding on uniaxial stress state whereas the sheet having either a random or the rolling texture exhibits easy yielding on shear deformation. Upon stretching tests, the thickness strain at the center region contacting the punch was identical regardless of the initial textures while the dependence of the thickness strain on the initial texture was found in the other regions. In general punch loads required or the sheet with an initial cube texture was as expected from calculated yield locus, lower than those for the others.

  • E-learning has increased on importance as people realize that the use of technology can improve the teaming process. Consequently, new learning environments have been developed. However, in general they are oriented to address a specific e-learning functionality. Therefore, in most of the cases, they are not developed to interoperate with other e-learning tools, which makes the creation of a fully functional e-learning environment more difficult.   • Nowadays, the study on XML as a standard method of exchange of information is active as Internet technology develops. This thesis designs and implements XML documents storage system using uniSQL/X in object-relational database. The system takes advantage of the merits of object-oriented databases, so that the structural information of XML documents can be effectively represented. The system uses split-storage method to allow frequent modifications of XML documents and suggests DTD-independent model so that it can store XML documents without DTD. And retrieval speed is improved by solving the issue of data duplication.

  • We present a fast-switching electro-optical device based on flexoelectro-optic effect in short pitch cholesterics oriented in uniform lying helix texture. The device has two operating modes: amplitude and phase modulation mode. The amplitude modulation mode is a fast in-plane switching of the device optic axis that enables to achieve a high percent of modulation of the transmitted light intensity whereas the phase mode gives a continuous change of the refractive index and thus of the phase shift of the transmitted light. By using a small concentration of diacrylate monomer and selecting the illumination conditions we have been able to create a inhomogeneous polymeric network mostly localized at both substrate surfaces and stabilize the two switching modes.
