Research trends and development direction in cell-based seafood (배양수산물의 연구현황 및 발전방향)

  • Climate change due to global warming is affecting the global environment. The fishery industry is highly dependent on the natural environment, so the fishery industry is increasingly volatile due to the rapidly changing climate change. At the same time, consumers' anxiety due to marine pollution such as microplastics, radioactivity, and heavy metals are increasing. Accordingly, cell-based seafood are being proposed as an alternative for the sustainable use of seafood resources. Cell-based seafood manufactured through a process of differentiation and proliferation using cells isolated from actual seafood and cell, scaffold, media, and bioreactor technologies are organically connected to each other. This review summarizes the latest research status of cell-based seafood. Based on this, suggests a development direction for cell-based seafood to properly settle in the future market.

  • The purpose of this paper is to summarize the development process of major science and technology manpower policies and to derive desirable future policy directions in the policy environment of a paradigm shift in supply and demand. To this end, first, the development process of the science and technology manpower policy, which was promoted in earnest from the 2000s, with the topic of resolving the phenomenon of avoidance of science and engineering majors, was examined, focusing on the basic plan for supporting science and engineering majors. Next, we summarized the main contents and implications of the change in demand for science and technology personnel caused by digital transformation and the supply shock of demographic decline, that is, the paradigm shift in the supply and demand of science and technology talents. Based on this, the core direction of the future science and technology manpower policy was suggested to create a human-centered science and technology research ecosystem that promotes the continued growth and inflow of human resources, so that can be the foundation for the training and utilization of excellent science and technology talents.

Current Status of Sewerage Technology Evalution Verification System and Direction for Improvement of the System (하수도 기술의 평가 인증제도 운영현황 및 방향)

  • As sewerage works has become one of the major public works in Korea, the employment of advanced and more appropriate sewerage technology has become essential to improve the efficiency of sewerage works. During last 10 years, the Korean Government has made tremendous amount of investment on sewerage works so that treatment plants in 58 cities have treatment capacity which is equivalent to 52.8% of total daily sewage generation in Korea. This remarkable development, however, has heavily depended on one technology, the conventional activated sludge process as more than 95% of the existing plants employ this process, Recently, the Korean Government and local authorities have plans to introduce more appropriate sewage treatment technologies and research and development in this area has become very active. To encourage employing new and appropriate technologies, however, the proper technology evaluation and verification program for new process is needed. The public sector should play a key role in this program since the sewerage works is one of the major public works. In this paper, the technology evaluation and verification programs related with sewerage facilities in the US and Japan are briefly reviewed. The Innovatived and Alternative Technology programs which was operated by US EPA until recently and Environmental Technology Verification(ETV) program which was commenced in 1995 are introduced. The technology verification programs operated in Japan and also in Korea are also reviewed in this paper to propose a future direction for development of the appropriate evaluation and verification system.

Establishment of a development direction for smart aquaculture technology through patent analysis and a demand survey of experts and fishermen (특허 현황 분석과 전문가 및 어업인 수요 조사를 통한 스마트 수산 양식 기술 개발 방향 설정)

  • The objective of this study is to establish a direction for smart aquaculture technology development in the Republic of Korea through patent analysis and a demand survey of experts and fishermen. The patent analysis was conducted using Wisdomain for patents in the Republic of Korea, the United States of America, Europe, Japan, and China from 2005 to 2016. This study conducted an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) survey of experts in the fields of fishery, marine, and ICT among others. Furthermore, it carried out a demand survey of 85 fishermen in Jeonnam and Jeju. The smart aquaculture technology market has moderately grown in the Republic of Korea until recently, and it is expected to expand further because of the expansion of national investment in the smart aquaculture field. The priority evaluation results for developing smart aquaculture technology show that land-based aquaculture has a higher priority than sea-based aquaculture. Of the fishermen that responded, 84% said that they need to introduce smart aquaculture technology to solve problems in the supply and demand of manpower, labor cost, and maintenance expenses. The direction of development should lie in developing biological and environment-based standard aquaculture models to spread high-tech systems and vitalize the aquaculture industry. This requires continual training of human resources in the smart aquaculture field.

A Study on Trend of Technology Development for Super-Speed Maglev (초고속 자기부상철도 기술개발 동향조사 및 분석)

  • In this study, to understand the technology development trend of super-speed maglev, the patents applied by major countries are analyzed. And based on the analyzed results, the domestic technology development direction are suggested. For patent analysis, the major technologies for super-speed maglev are classified into 14 parts. Then, through the quantitative analysis method such as number, increase rate and share rate, the overview of technology development and focused parts by each country are investigated. Also through the qualitative analysis method such as concentration degree, citation index and market share index, the technology level and market securing ability of each country are anticipated. Considering the analyzed results and technology development trend, the domestic technology development direction such as priority development fields and methods are proposed.

A study on surface roughness depending on cutting direction and cutting fluid type during micro-milling on STAVAX steel (STAVAX 강의 마이크로 밀링 중 가공 방향 및 절삭유체 분사형태에 따른 표면 거칠기 경향에 관한 연구)

  • As Light-Emitting Diodes(LEDs) continue to advance in performance, their application in automotive lamps is increasing. Automotive LEDs utilize light guides not only for aesthetics but also to control light quantity and direction. Light guides employ patterns of a few hundred micrometers(㎛) to regulate the light, and the surface roughness(Ra) of these patterns can reach tens of nanometers(nm). Given that these light guides are produced through injection molding, mold processing technology with high surface quality micro-patterns is required. This study serves as a preliminary investigation into the development of high surface quality micro-pattern processing technology. It examines the surface roughness of the workpiece based on the cutting direction of the pattern and the cutting fluid type when cutting micro-patterns on STAVAX steel using cubic Boron Nitride(cBN) tools. The experiments involved machining a step-shaped micro-pattern with a height of 60 ㎛ and a pitch of 400 ㎛ in a 22×22 mm area under identical cutting conditions, with only the cutting direction and cutting fluid type being varied. The machining results of four cases were compared, encompassing two cases of cutting direction(parallel to the pattern, orthogonal to the pattern) and two cases of cutting fluid type (flood, mist). Consequently, the Ra value was found to be the highest(Ra 128.33 nm) when machining with the flood type in parallel to the pattern, while it was the lowest(Ra 95.22 nm) when machining with the mist type orthogonal to the pattern. These findings confirm that there is a difference of up to 25.8 % in the Ra value depending on the cutting direction and cutting fluid type.

Research on the Development Direction of Wireless Charging Technology Using Patent Analysis (특허분석을 통한 무선충전 기술방향 분석)

  • The wireless power transmission market is growing at an average annual rate of 51.5% from $ 16.4 billion in 2015 to $ 131.1 billion in 2020. However, there are limitations to commercialization due to the development of standards and technologies. Thus, this study identified trends in standards and regulations by market and by country. The research collected and filtered a total of 69,488 worldwide wireless power transfer patents by June 2019 and extracted a total of 28,555 patents. Based on this, technology development status was analyzed and predicted. In this study, long-distance and short-range technology development with high technology development difficulty and low technology development ratio could lead to growth of the entire wireless charging market. It is analyzed that investment and policy preparation are necessary to secure source technology for long-distance / near technology development than China, Japan and Europe.

The Present State of Physiotherapy and the Development Direction of a Curriculum for Physiotherapy Educational Program in Swaziland (Swaziland의 물리치료 현황과 물리치료 교육프로그램 개발방향)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to search the present state of physiotherapy and the development direction of a curriculum for physiotherapy educational program, especially in field of orthopedic manual therapy, in Swaziland. Methods: The developed curriculum is as follows: 1. Disease and Health State in Swaziland. 2. Medical Human Resources State of Swaziland. 3. Physiotherapy Services State in Swaziland. 4. Higher Education State in Swaziland. 5. Development Direction of a Curriculum for Physiotherapy Educational Program in Swaziland. Conclusions: There is no a physiotherapist in Swaziland and Swaziland government which has not a physiotherapy education programme in any university of whole country. So we need to the development direction of a curriculum for physiotherapy educational program for the future of Swaziland, especially in field of orthopedic manual therapy. The reason is firstly, most of people are obesity in this country, so many people complained a lot of joint and muscle pain. And secondly, also there are many musculoskeletal disease patients now a day in Swaziland because of HIV/AIDS. Lastly, Swaziland country is in a poor and developing state, so physiotherapist it is hard to make a purchase and setting physiotherapy modalities apparatus at Swaziland country.

An Amplitude Comparison Direction-Finding Antenna Assembly for Mounting on a Small Flight Vehicle (소형 비행체 탑재를 위한 크기 비교용 방향 탐지 안테나 조립체)

  • In this paper, a compact antenna assembly for an amplitude comparison direction-finding(DF) method for a small flight vehicle is presented. Designed antenna assembly consists of four antennas and it is mounted on a radius of 1.45 λc where λc corresponds to the wavelength of the center frequency. To achieve compactness and robustness of the assembly, the elements are fed by end-launch feeding method and have modified aperture shapes of E- or H-sectoral horns. The feeding part consists of SMA connector, stepped impedance matching structure, and square waveguide of 0.6 λc × 0.6 λc. To achieve different main beam directions for every antenna which is required condition for amplitude comparison DF method, all apertures of the antennas are inclined and it makes the main beam direction of each antenna to top, bottom, left, and right with respect to the axis of the platform. To verify the validation of DF performance of the presented antenna assembly, amplitude comparison curves using measurement results are presented. The bandwidth of the antennas are above 3.2 % in Ku-band(VSWR ≤ 2:1).
