  • In a pre-existing online newspaper has inconvenience such that a difference of a newspaper from other newspapers is confirmed on another script window. To solve this inconvenience, we propose a system called Rose News Reader. Since our proposed system classifies the articles with respect to the publishers and domain, a user can compare the articles from diverse publisher and analyze them to obtain correct facts.

An Innovative Training Program on Engineering Education

  • From 2010, an "excellent engineer" undergraduate and graduate program had been initiated in higher education of China to promote the development of industry and social economy. In this circumstance, the engineering education programs in Dalian Maritime University are reformed to satisfy the requirements of transportation industries. And the engineering practice, engineering activities, and engineering courses are emphasized. In this training program, industrial communities are deeply involved in the engineering education and training procedure; the students are educated and trained in university and enterprise according to the common standards and industrial standards; and the engineering competences and creative ability are emphasized and are to be enhanced in the training schedules and procedure. A joint-training mode has been established already between Dalian Maritime University and enterprises in transportation fields.

Examining the Phenomenon of Information Society by Exploring the Use of Information Technology in Education

  • This study attempted to examine the phenomenon of information society in education by exploring pre-service teachers' use of technology. Pre-service teachers from the USA and Korea participated in the study. Surveys and interviews were conducted to collect the data. The NET and ISST which are the national educational technology standards for each country were used as survey instruments. Focused interviews were conducted with 10 participants after analyzing the data for collecting more information. Based on the study results, technology is not deeply infused into education yet and the degrees of technology infusion were different in two countries. The participating pre-service teachers were not quite confident in their abilities to integrate technology into their lessons.

A Comparative Study on ICT Policy in Education in Korea and Japan

  • Korea and Japan have been making a continuous effort to build information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure in schools, and integrate ICT into curriculum by training teachers based on own ICT policies in education. ICT policy in education isparticularly diverse and challenging, in part because the rapid development of ICT continues to create new possibilities for use and demands the transformation of the ways we teach and learn. The present study is to analyze ICT policies of Korea and Japan, between 1980's and the present period, in a larger educational and historical context. The study reviews chronological changes in major streamlines of ICT policies of both countries, and discusses in detail changes in two aspects of ICT policies in education, that is, ICT infrastructure and teacher training. The paper points out convergence and diversity of ICT policies in two countries and concludes with a set of guidelines for ICT policy makers.

Examining the enactment of learning technologies to support learners' access, power, and achievement in elementary school mathematics

  • Technology has potential to support mathematics teaching and learning when technology is used in specific ways. This study examines how the use of mathematics learning technologies (MLTs) promotes students' Access, Power, and Achievement, as defined by Gutiérrez' (2009, 2012) equity-based framework. The article includes two cases that were collected during the authors' time engaging with students in mathematics classrooms through work in elementary school classrooms. The inductive qualitative analysis of data conducted during teaching episodes concluded that teachers' launch of the activities that used MLTs and their support during MLT use influenced students' Access, Power, and Achievement. Specifically, the more support that a teacher provided with direct telling was associated with decreases in Access and Power. There was also evidence of student engagement and Achievement based on teachers' actions during MLT activities. The article concludes with implications to support teachers' enactment of specific pedagogies during the use of MLTs in order to promote Access, Power, and Achievement.

  • This study aimed to present the tasks to solve digital divide by understanding the actual condition of the digital divide of persons with disabilities in South Korea. Moreover, It is considered that the factors about qualitative digital divide. As a result, it was found that "Information Utilization Capacity" and "Information Utilization" tend to be higher among the young, more often male, higher education level, higher income people who had some information technology education and experience using telecommunication services. In Addition, all failure type affected the "age", "income", "information technology education" in common. Among them, influence of "age" and "information technology education" has become stronger than the other variables. Therefore, in order to solve the qualitative digital divide, it is required to focus as "age" and "information technology education".

  • 현재 우리나라 제주도에서 스마트 그리드 실증단지를 만들어 한국형 스마트 그리드의 효용성과 실효성을 검증하려고 하고 있다. 이는 우리나라에 적합한 스마트 그리드 시스템을 실행하기 위한 범 정부 차원의 프로젝트다. 또한 다른 국가들도 자국의 정치, 경제, 기술, 기타 환경에 맞는 최적의 스마트 그리드 시스템을 찾기 위해서 구상하고 실행에 옮기고 있다. 따라서 다른 국가의 스마트 그리드 동향을 알아봄으로써 우리나라가 스마트 그리드의 국제 표준화 선점 및 핵심기술 확보 등을 통한 신 비즈니스 모델을 창출할 수 있고, 최적의 스마트 그리드 시스템을 찾아 궁극적으로는 전기 에너지의 고효율화 사용으로 온실가스를 감축 할 수 있다. 이러한 이유로 본 논문에서는 국내 스마트 그리드의 동향 및 미국, 일본, 중국, 유럽등의 스마트 그리드 동향에 대해서 분석하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 배전계통에 연계된 태양광전원에서 발생하는 양방향 보호협조에 대한 문제점을 분석하였다. 모의배전계통과 통합 보호기기장치, 모의 태양광전원장치로 구성된 태양광전원용 보호협조시험장치를 제작하여, 단락사고시험(OCR)과 지락사고시험(OCGR)에 대한 보호기기의 특성시험을 수행하였다. 태양광전원 연계에 의한 사고전류 공급으로 보호기기의 정정치 변동과 보호기기의 오동작, 부동작에 대한 동작특성을 분석하여, 기존의 배전계통에 연계된 태양광전원의 문제점을 분석하고, 그 대안을 제시하였다.

  • 최근 배전계통에 태양광전원의 전력변환장치나 비선형기기에서 발생되는 고조파는 보호계전기의 오동작 및 기기의 손실 등을 초래하여, 이에 대한 전력품질특성 해석이 필수적인 상황이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 태양광전원이 연계되어 정상운용중인 배전계통에 미치는 전력품질 특성시험을 위하여, LabVIEW를 이용한 전력품질 평가시스템을 제작하였다. 그리고 이 장치를 통해 태양광전원 연계 시 발생하는 고조파를 분석하여, 제한한 평가시스템의 유용성을 확인하였다.

  • 전력 시스템은 인간이 만든 시스템 가운데 가장 크고 복잡한 시스템이다. 현대 디지털 경제 사회의 인프라는 전력시스템을 통한 전기에너지의 공급과 기술에 기초하고 있다. 전력시스템은 대용량화, 대규모화, 고 효율화를 위한 시설증대와 기술개발로 이루어져 있다. 사람이 직접 사고 현장을 가지 않고 컴퓨터로 제어함으로써 사람의 번거로움을 기계가 대신해 줌으로서 사람의 생활을 보다 편리하며 효율성 측면에서도 기여함에 틀림이 없는 사실이다. 따라서 디지털 정보화 사회에서 언제 어디서나 인간과 설비들이 컴퓨터와 통신네트워크에 의해 접속되는 유비쿼터스화 사회의 에너지와 정보통신 인프라 역할로 새롭게 전환 될 수 있음을 인식하는 전력감시시스템을 PLC 기술을 이용하여 저렴하게 구현하였다.
