  • Recently, the military need more various education and training because of the increasing necessity of various operation. But the education and training of the military has the various difficulties such as the limitations of time, space and finance etc. In order to overcome the difficulties, the military use Defense Modeling and Simulation(DM&S). Although the participants in training has the empirical knowledge from education and training based on the simulation, the empirical knowledge is not shared because of particular characteristics of military such as security and the change of official. This situation obstructs the improving effectiveness of education and training. The purpose of this research is the systematizing and analysing the empirical knowledge using text mining and network analysis to assist the sharing of empirical knowledge. For analysing texts or documents as the empirical knowledge, we select the text mining and network analysis. We expect our research will improve the effectiveness of education and training based on simulation of DM&S.

  • Design optimization is a mathematical process to find an optimal solution through the use of formal optimization algorithms. Design plays a vital role in the engineering field; therefore, using design tools in education and research is becoming more and more important. Recently, numerical design optimization in fluid mechanics, which uses computational fluid dynamics (CFD), has numerous applications in the engineering field, because of the rapid development of high-performance computing resources. However, it is difficult to find design optimization software and contents for educational purposes in aerospace engineering. In the present study, we have developed an aerodynamic design framework specifically for an airfoil, based on the EDucation-research Integration through Simulation On the Net (EDISON) portal. The airfoil design framework is composed of three subparts: a geometry kernel, CFD flow analysis, and an optimization algorithm. Through a seamless interface among the subparts, an iterative design process is conducted. In addition, the CFD flow analysis and the design framework are provided through a web-based portal system, while the computation is taken care of by a supercomputing facility. In addition to the software development, educational contents are developed for lectures associated with design optimization in aerospace and mechanical engineering education programs. The software and content developed in this study is expected to be used as a tool for e-learning material, for education and research in universities.

  • This research aims to enhance the efficiency of Pt/C catalysts due to the limited availability and high cost of platinum in contemporary fuel cell catalysts. Nano-sized platinum particles were distributed onto a carbon-based support via the polyol process, utilizing the metal precursor H2PtCl6·6H2O. Key parameters such as pH, temperature, and RPM were carefully regulated. The findings revealed variations in the particle size, distribution, and dispersion of nano-sized Pt particles, influenced by temperature and pH. Following sodium hydroxide treatment, heat treatment procedures were systematically executed at diverse temperatures, specifically 120, 140, and 160 ℃. Notably, the thermal treatment at 140 ℃ facilitated the production of Pt/C catalysts characterized by the smallest platinum particle size, measuring at 1.49 nm. Comparative evaluations between the commercially available Pt/C catalysts and those synthesized in this study were meticulously conducted through cyclic voltammetry, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and field-emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (FE-SEM EDS) methodologies. The catalyst synthesized at 160 ℃ demonstrated superior electrochemical performance; however, it is imperative to underscore the necessity for further optimization studies to refine its efficacy.

  • Lifelong education also plays a big role in promoting social inclusion. By providing equal educational opportunities to people from various social classes, regions, and cultural backgrounds, we reduce social inequality and help all individuals reach their full potential. Through lifelong education, a culture of continuous learning can be established throughout society. The importance of learning will be emphasized, and the attitude of pursuing knowledge and wisdom will become common. The purpose of this study is to suggest a direction for the development of national lifelong education by comparing and analyzing the basic plan for promoting lifelong education from the 1st to the 5th. As a result of the study, it has contributed greatly to the development of national lifelong education by developing the lifelong education promotion basic plan from the 1st to the 5th. If the 5th Basic Plan for Lifelong Education is faithfully implemented, it will contribute to the development of national lifelong education in many areas, and in addition to this, the direction of development of national lifelong education is emphasized. First, the strengthening of the use of digital technology. Second, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation with industries. Third, it is necessary to improve the financial support and scholarship system. Fourth, diversification of curriculum. Fifth, expansion of community participation. Sixth, reinforcement of self-directed learning. Seventh, laws related to lifelong education need to be improved.

  • Virtual reality (VR) simulation in nursing education, especially in the teaching of VR simulations just prior to clinical practice, has the potential to enhance the effectiveness of clinical practice and better prepare nursing students for patient care. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a preclinical VR simulation education program on the development of critical thinking, self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, and perceived clinical competency among undergraduate nursing students. The study was conducted between May and June 2021 using a pretest-posttest design with a control group. A total of 42 nursing students were recruited through convenience sampling from two separate classes. The intervention group participated in VR simulation education, while the control group engaged in lecture-based education, before beginning clinical practice. Assessments were conducted before preclinical education and after completing clinical practice using structured questionnaires. The data was analyzed using chi-square tests, independent t-tests, and ANCOVA. The findings indicated that the intervention group had a significantly higher score in perceived clinical competency compared to the control group (F = 5.25, p = 0.029) after controlling for pretest scores. However, there were no statistically significant differences in critical thinking, self-efficacy, or problem-solving abilities between the two groups. These findings suggest that preclinical VR simulation education is partially effective in preparing nursing students for their clinical practice, underscoring the need for a balanced educational approach that integrates VR with clinical practice to develop a full spectrum of nursing skills and knowledge.
