Technology Trends Related with the Natural Dyeing by Patent Analysis (특허분석을 통한 천연염색기술의 현황)

  • The trends of patents related to natural dyeing were examined in order to guide the development of natural dyeing into a high value-added technology. Total 181 patents data provided from KISTI were analyzed and following results were drawn. Korea had the overwhelming number of patents related to natural dyeing over Japan or United States of America from 1970 to 2007. In case of domestic, the number of patent applications were heavily focused on the metropolitan area in 1990's, but started to increase in the Honam region and Youngnam region in the first half of the year 2000 which indicated that the researches and the developments of natural dyeing were very active. In the case of foreign countries, most of their patent applications comes from the corporation such as a company while the number of patents applications from individuals overwhelms that of corporation in South Korea. Also, more of individuals' patent applications were denied than corporations' patents applications. The vegetable dye, a type of dyestuff which is a research subject for patent application, had the most research done above all other dyestuff.

  • Security threats in supply-chains can be targeted at all the users who use products related to these supply-chains as well as at single equipment or individuals. This implies that these security threats can cause nationwide economic and social damages. In particular, it is true that hardware security threat analysis technology in supply-chains has significant technical barriers due to the lack of software knowledge as well as the need to study and understand undisclosed hardware designs. In this paper, we discuss the future direction of studies by introducing basic concepts and attack cases, along with domestic and foreign technology trends related to supply-chain security technology.

  • Augmented reality/virtual reality(AR/VR) technology has a very long research history, beginning in the 1860s. As of the CES of 2016, the expectations regarding the commercialization of AR/VR technology have increased, incurring the interest of many people. AR/VR technologies will be established as a part of our everyday life, such as smartphones, by combining the breakthrough developments of displays, semiconductors, sensors, and various content development technologies. However, until recently, the results of innovative technological developments and market growth had not been reported. In this article, we analyze these trends by focusing on display technologies, and discuss future directions.

  • In the age of IoT, in which everything is connected to a network, there have been increases in the amount of data traffic, latency, and the risk of personal privacy breaches that conventional cloud computing technology cannot cope with. The idea of edge computing has emerged as a solution to these issues, and furthermore, the concept of ultra-low power edge intelligent semiconductors in which the IoT device itself performs intelligent decisions and processes data has been established. The key elements of this function are an intelligent semiconductor based on artificial intelligence, connectivity for the efficient connection of neurons and synapses, and a large-scale spiking neural network simulation framework for the performance prediction of a neural network. This paper covers the current trends in ultra-low power edge intelligent semiconductors including issues regarding their technology and application.

  • Currently, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is spreading from recreational purposes to the public- and commercial-use product areas. Various efforts are being made worldwide to ensure the safety of UAVs and expand their service applications and convenience, because autonomous flights are becoming increasingly popular. In order for a UAV to perform autonomous flight and mission without operator assistance, environmental perception technology, path planning technology, and flight control technology are needed. In this article, we present recent trends in these technologies.

  • A technology to replace the traditional blood sampling method for glucose monitoring has been sought for a long time. It is now possible to measure the blood glucose change rate continuously for more than 24 hours using a minimally invasive method that does not involve blood collection. Furthermore, various technology development efforts are being made for innovative diabetes management through intermittent or continuous blood glucose monitoring in a non-invasive manner. In this paper, we present an overview of diabetes and the need for continuous blood glucose measurement techniques., and then introduce various non-invasive blood glucose measurement techniques currently being studied. In addition, through research and analysis of the recent commercialization development status of minimally invasive, non-invasive, and wearable continuous blood glucose measurement technologies, we examine global development trends of future technologies.

  • Recently, LNOI photonics technology has attracted attention as a photonics platform capable of integrating ultra-high-speed, low power consumption, and high nonlinearity optical devices, as it is possible to manufacture LiNbO3 optical waveguides with ultra-low optical loss and a radius of curvature of several tens of micrometers. Here, we will briefly compare various photonics platforms, such as Si, InP, SiN, and LNOI, describe the current research trends of LNOI photonics, and discuss the direction of photonics technology at the conclusion.

  • In this paper, we analyze the current research technology trends through the literature reviews of technical outlines of electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, domestic and overseas policy trends, etc. After analyzing the literature, we found out while the re-use and recycling of waste batteries and the in-wheel motor systems are essential areas for the development of electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the related research is not quite sufficient, so the direction for further research is proposed at the conclusion.

  • In this study, we investigate the trends and prospects of spatial light modulation (SLM) technology that enables full complex modulation as a next-generation SLM. Current SLM technology, which is used as a key element in holography, augmented reality (AR), XR, and realistic displays, has performance limits that modulate only amplitude or phase. Notably, SLM capable of full complex modulation does not produce diffraction noise, unlike DC and twin image, and thus has a high-efficiency performance. In the future, the application field of next-generation SLM, which can be full-complex modulated, is expected to cover a wide range of holography-AR and-XR devices, optical artificial intelligence, and 6G free space optics communications, which will greatly contribute to the development of a super-realistic metaverse platform and service.

  • This document describes the technologies related to internet protocol (IP)-based media production systems. As high-capacity, high-quality data transmission increases, broadcast production platforms are shifting to IP. The IP-based production system uses the network by sharing resources and is easy to control centrally. It also facilitates software-based cloud production. A cloud IP-based media production platform can work regardless of dedicated hardware and can easily collaborate. Associations and industrial groups have created common standards related to production, and manufacturers are developing solutions with their technologies based on their product competitiveness. This study investigates the open standard technologies used for IP-based media production and technology trends in the ProAV industry and describes the production in the cloud environment and cloud AI-based production technology trends.
