  • In this study would like to find extending or increasing the efficacy of the antibiotic substance for the strains with resistance to antibiotics or persister cells by inhibition of the resistance. This study was used different species of 'legal high' plants leaves from Leonotis leonurus, Mitragyna speciosa, and seeds from Ipomoea murucoides with antibiotics which are Amoxicillin, Chloramphenicol, Ciprofloxacin, Kanamycin, Oxacillin, and Vancomycin. Legal highs were extracted with methanol. Minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) testing for a range of antibiotics with extracts of plant was fulfilled by broth dilution methods. In this essay, it was determined in a microdilution assay utilizing suspended in ISB up to a final concentration of 512㎍/ml in 96 wells microtitre plates, threefold and serial dilutions. After that, the microplates were kept in incubator between 35℃ and 37℃ for overnight. Leonotis leonurus, Mitragyna speciosa, and Ipomoea murucoides of Legal highs (512㎍/ml) investigated small activity to inhibit against pathogens which are susceptible Staphylococcus aureus, resistant Staphylococcus aureus, susceptible Enterococcus faecalis, resistant Escherichia coli.

  • Dynamic modeling was used to predict the Pseudomonas spp. concentration in Alaska pollack under dynamic temperature conditions in a programmable incubator using Euler's method. The model evaluation showed good agreement between the predicted and measured concentrations of Pseudomonas spp. In the simulation, three kinds of distribution path were assumed: consumers buying from a distribution center (A), manufacturer (B), or direct market (C). Each of these distribution paths consists of six phases: shipping, warehousing/shipment, warehousing/storing, processing, market exhibition, and sale/consumption. Sensitivity analysis of each phase was also implemented. The Pseudomonas concentrations and sensitivities ($S_k$) at the terminal phases of the three paths were estimated to be (A) 11.174 log CFU/g and 10.550 log $S_k$, (B) 10.948 log CFU/g and 10.738 log $S_k$, and (C) 8.758 log CFU/g and 9.602 log $S_k$, respectively. The sensitivities indicated that path A has the highest risk of failure in managing the relevant phases.

  • The current study was designed to evaluate the effects of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated with a xanthine (X) and xanthine oxidase system (XO) on sperm function and DNA fragmentation in porcine spermatozoa. ROS were produced by a combination of $1,000{\mu}M$ X and 50 mU/ml XO. The ROS scavengers such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) (200 U/ml) and catalase (CAT) (500 U/ml) were also tested. Spermatozoa were incubated for 2 hours in BWW medium with a combination of X-XO supplemented with or without antioxidants at $37^{\circ}C$ under 5% $CO_2$ incubator. Ca-ionophore-induced acrosome reaction, the proportion of swollen spermatozoa under hypo-osmotic condition, malondialdehyde formation for the analysis of lipid peroxidation, and the proportion of DNA fragmentation were determined after 2 hours incubation. The action of ROS on porcine spermatozoa resulted in decreased Ca-ionophore-induced acrosome reaction and membrane integrity, increased the formation of malondialdehyde, and the proportion of sperm with DNA fragmentation(p<0.05). The toxic effects caused by ROS were completely alleviated by CAT in terms of sperm function and characteristics, however SOD did not serve the same scavenger effect as CAT. To conclude, the ROS can cause significant damage to porcine sperm functions and characteristics, which can be minimized by the use of antioxidants.

  • In this study, the effect of light irradiation on tyrosinase activity during storage in a low temperature incubator was investigated, with the goal of identifying the appropriate wavelength and intensity of light for inhibiting tyrosinase activity. Fluorescent light and blue light emitting diode (LED) irradiation were found to inhibit tyrosinase activity. In particular, tyrosinase activity was significantly inhibited under high intensity blue LED irradiation, suggesting that the activity of tyrosinase present in vegetables or fruits might be inhibited by LED irradiation. Therefore, blue LED irradiation during food storage and the distribution stage would be useful for ensuring good quality of food, owing to the inhibition of the enzymatic browning reaction.

  • Yolk index (In, Haugh unit (BU) and weight loss of quail egg were measured to evaluate the effect of composite film (SPI/corn starch). Also, the effect of composite film was investigated to extend the shelf-life of sandwich foods. The quality characteristics of sandwich food was measured by the weight increment The weight reduction ratio for quail egg coated with composite film showed $8\%$ increment after 20 day storage. Yolk index and Haugh unit were significantly different between the uncoated and coated quail eggs with composite film solution. Sandwich coated with composite film showed the less weight increase for 12 hour storage compared to controls.

  • The production of adventitious roots derived from root explant of Echinacea angustifolia and its secondary metabolite content were assessed in different types and levels of auxin. The induction of adventitious roots from root explant cultured in Murashige and Skoog solid medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/L indole -3-butyric acid (IBA) attained highest as 20.87 mg fresh weight and 3.07 mg dry weight per culture but root suspension culture at the same concentration of IBA enhanced biomass production as 3.07 g fresh weight and 0.38 g per culture after 4 weeks in culture. 3.0 mg/L ${\alpha}$-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) treatment had similar effect on root biomass production as 3.07 g fresh weight and 0.38 g per culture with liquid suspension culture, whereas adventitious roots exposed to over 3.0-5.0 mg/L IBA or 5.0 mg/L NAA were less responsive by reducing the number of adventitious roots and/or changing root morphology such as short and thick. The content of secondary metabolites such as phenolic, flavonoids and total caffeic acid in adventitious roots cultured on MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/L IBA were attained highest as 27.20, 9.60. 10.67 mg/g dry weight, respectively. Overall, the best production of root biomass and secondary metabolites were given by 1.0 mg/L IBA.

  • Recently universities provide the students with the convergence education as a means of start-up support for addressing the youth unemployment crisis. This study aims to empirically analyze moderating effects of nationality in terms of the effects of employment capability on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intentions. For evaluating the effect, a structural equation model was used. The results are as follows. First, employment capability significantly affects entrepreneurship. Second, employment capability does not have a direct impact on entrepreneurial intentions but it has an indirect effect, through entrepreneurship. Finally the moderating effect of nationality was revealed. We hope that the results are applied as the basic data for developing educational programs of convergence technology to promote employment and entrepreneurship.

  • Contact type sensors (e.g., displacement sensor and strain gauge) were typically used to evaluate the safety and mechanical properties in machines and construction. However, those contact type sensors have been constrained because of measurement problems such as surface roughness, temperature, humidity, and shape. The Digital Image Correlation (DIC) measurement system is a vision measurement system. This measurement system uses the taken image using a CCD camera and calculates the image correlation between the reference image and the deformed image under external force to measure the displacement and strain rates. In this paper, we discuss methods to improve the measurement precision of the digital image correlation measurement system. A tensile test was conducted to compare the precision improvement effects, by using the universal test machine and the DIC measurement system, with the use of subpixel algorithms, i.e., the Coarse Fine Search (CFS) algorithm and the Peak Finding (PF) algorithm.

  • To establish a new creative economy, the worldwide efforts have been made to wriggle out the old economic paradigm after the financial crisis of 2008. When it comes to the limitation of the viability. the start up companies have a high risk of failure. Therefore business incubator (BI) should carry out the role to improve their viability. As for the maximization of the effect on the business incubating services as move in companies, it is important for BI to increase the level of business incubating services by the systemic and scientific measurement. This study showed that the quality of the BI center services was measured by Kano analysis and the previous research as follows. First, BI quality attribute by Timko's customer satisfaction came out into the attractive qualities on the 14 items that amount to the 70% of 20 business incubating services items. It is desirable to perform the strategy for the satisfaction. Secondly, basic business incubating services were interpreted as the one-dimensional quality like incubating spaces, parking facilities, security facilities, industry technology development funds, and incubating managers. Finally, training and educational service was recognized as indifferent quality. Futhermore, the improvement and the limitation of this study as well as the interpretation of analysis results are also provided.

  • Face robots capable of expressing their emotional status, can be adopted as an efficient tool for friendly communication between the human and the machine. In this paper, we present a face robot actuated with artificial muscle based on dielectric elastomer. By exploiting the properties of dielectric elastomer, it is possible to actuate the covering skin, eyes as well as provide human-like expressivity without employing complicated mechanisms. The robot is driven by seven actuator modules such eye, eyebrow, eyelid, brow, cheek, jaw and neck module corresponding to movements of facial muscles. Although they are only part of the whole set of facial motions, our approach is sufficient to generate six fundamental facial expressions such as surprise, fear, angry, disgust, sadness, and happiness. In the robot, each module communicates with the others via CAN communication protocol and according to the desired emotional expressions, the facial motions are generated by combining the motions of each actuator module. A prototype of the robot has been developed and several experiments have been conducted to validate its feasibility.
