A Patent Analysis for the Strategic Landscape of Firms: Cancer Metabolism

  • Patent information as a proxy measure of technological capability has been utilized to establish technological strategies of firms. It is important to monitor what competitors' plans for direction on research and development in the initial stage of new industry. Cancer metabolism has been considered as a beacon of hope for cancer research because it is anticipated that the research field will play a central role in developing effective cancer therapies. There is little attention given to understanding the status quo of organizational configurations. By utilizing network analysis, six sub-groups of cancer metabolism were categorized and the relationship between an individual field and participants were analyzed based on cluster and entire network-level. Although the largest drug and biotech companies tried to take an initiative across the whole fields, the differences in technological capabilities between them was discovered. This paper attempts to improve the validity of the suggested procedure and is significant in that it looks at the entire structure of cancer metabolism research from a strategic perspective for the first time.

  • 이 논문에서는 위성항법시스템의 운영 현황과 개발 계획에 대하여 기술하였다. 미국의 GPS(Global Positioning System)와 러시아의 GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System), 유럽의 Galileo, 중국의 Beidou/Compsss, 그리고 일본의 QZSS(Quasi-Zenith Satellite System) 에 대하여 시스템의 구성과 운영 위성 상태에 대하여 기술하였으며, 각 시스템의 개발 계획과 현대화에 대하여 기술하였다.

  • PURPOSE: This study examined the status and prospects of telerehabilitation to identify the challenges and propose strategies for its promotion both domestically and internationally. The study also focused on the preconditions and improvements required for adopting telerehabilitation, considering technological, institutional, and socio-cultural factors. METHODS: A thorough database search was conducted. The relevant research, papers, and reports were collected, and the literature was evaluated to summarize the findings. RESULTS: Tele-rehabilitation showed promise in enhancing the healthcare service quality and accessibility. However, addressing challenges requires a comprehensive analysis of its status, global research trends, and the formulation of adoption strategies. Research in this direction is expected to improve healthcare services. CONCLUSION: Tele-rehabilitation can enhance healthcare services by overcoming geographical limitations. On the other hand, addressing challenges through analysis and strategic planning is essential for its effective adoption and advancing healthcare quality and accessibility.

Innovative Writing Assignments in Engineering to Enhance Learning, Thinking and Motivation

  • Three benefits of incorporating writing in engineering curricula are presented. The first benefit is in improving the communication skills which are essential for engineers and are attained through practice. The second benefit is in enhancing learning and is achieved by utilizing the complex process of writing to heighten the level of understanding. The third benefit, though difficult to recognize and even more difficult to promote in a society (and educational institutes) steeped in the behaviorist tradition, is in promoting meaningful learning by cultivating motivation internal to students themselves. The boundaries of writing activities are broadened to include that of stating a paragraph or even one complete sentence such that it may be incorporated in engineering without undue strain. A two-year trial of incorporating four types of writing assignments in six different courses (a total of 12 classes) at Michigan Technological University shows that writing assignments can be designed to achieve different degrees of the three aforementioned benefits. It is found that different types of writing activities need to be assigned depending on the status of course (elective vs. required) and on the composition of the students taking the course (upper division vs. lower division; majors vs. non-majors).

  • Today, in the course of globalization and crisis, the world needs the new ideas, new variants and ways of development of civilizations. Due to this, the author has developed and introduced own research (know-how) without world's analogue. The main purpose of this research is to transfer Turkestan in the spiritual center (mega polis) of the international level. For the first time in history, as an example of one region, two large cardinal problems had been connected, i.e. on the one hand spiritual and cultural development of the society, on the other hand new 6th technological way to show to the world opportunity of Kazakhstan new model of spiritual-innovative development. After realization of this research the status of Kazakhstan will strengthen at international level. This workout is devoted to all people, especially to the youth - as future of our country.

  • Korea has accomplished remarkable economic growth based on the accumulating technological capability. Science and Technology policy aiming at quantitative growth has concentrated on S&T hardware infra-structure construction but it overemphasizes technological factors. This policy has not sufficiently reflected social and cultural elements that should be incorporated in S&T development process. Therefore many experts have been emphasizing the importance of science culture as an important ingredient of S&T policy. This paper aims at investigating how science culture could be diffused. Nowadays, many countries have a strong interest in science shop as an important instrument of science culture. Science shop, however, has been activated in European area so it is not familar to Korea. However there are already a few science shops in Korea. In this paper, we will investigate the Korea science shops. In particular, we will analyze the current status, organizational structure and problems of Korea science shops. we will draw some important policy implications to activate science shops and to strengthen S&T policies in Korea.

Analysis of the Open Source Software Sector in China

  • The paper describes the status and context of the Chinese Open Source Software (OSS) industry and ecosystem based on the analysis of the components of the China OSS Promotion Union. The analysis involves comparisons of several main Chinese developers of Linux operating system and makers of open source counterpart of the popular Microsoft Office package as well as several main Chinese OSS communities. Comparisons concern the technological and business aspect. The findings reveal peculiarities of the divergence of innovative activities of Chinese companies, as well as indicate that the strong government support may at the same time limit the technology selection under rigid competition, especially as foreign open source companies are found to be more focused on hobbyist developers and are able to maintain larger independent communities. Implications of the paper include the need to coordinate global development efforts and adjust science & technology policies in order to stimulate both the development and the diffusion of open source among Chinese companies and individual hobbyists.

  • 연료전지 발전기술은 에너지 절약 및 환경보호 측면에서의 우수한 특성으로 인해 새로운 발전기술로서 평가되고 있다. 여러가지 연료전지 기술중 인산형 연료전지는 기술적으로 가장 성숙되어 있는 상태이며, 상용화를 눈앞에 두고 있다. 본 고에서는 인산형 연료전지에 대한 최근의 기술동향 및 상용화 노력을 소개하고자 한다. 미국과 일본의 개발노력 및 기술상태를 비교 분석하였으며, 향후 기술 개발 방향 등에 대해서도 언급하고자 한다.

  • A marvellous solar cell technology system based on organometal halide perovskites has recently shown an unprecedented progress in power conversion efficiency (PCE); the certified one of 17.9% and unconfirmed of 19.3%, as well as the estimated electricity with a generating cost lower than the half of conventional methods based on fossil fuels. In this report the present status of stability with regards to moisture, ambient temperature, ultraviolet and lead toxicity as well as the key technological developments for the early commercialization are covered. Comprehensive understanding of material science for perovskites is required, together with complete encapsulation technologies beyond those for OLEDs, in order to ensure a 20-year-longer-than lifetime of PSCs (perovskite solar cells) and the stability according to the IEC 61646 damp heat test standard, which will result in the replacement of silicon solar cells with PSCs.

건설장비의 안전 솔루션 기술 동향 (Technological Trends in Safety Solutions for Construction Equipment)

  • Negative perceptions of the construction industry are prevalent due to the high accident rate at construction sites. Recently, with the gradual change of the perception in industrial safety, the demand for improving the safety level of construction sites has increased. Accordingly, the government is preparing various safety-level measures such as the Serious Disaster Punishment Act and support for industrial safety management costs. In addition, private industries are incorporating various safety equipment in the sites. This paper introduced the current status of safety sensors and solutions currently applied to construction equipment and industrial vehicles. The technology development direction suitable for construction equipment was introduced by comparing the operating environment of automobiles and construction equipment. and the need to develop performance standards to protect and revitalize the market for safety devices for construction equipment was suggested.
