Behaviour on social media sites need to be clearly defined so that students would know the clear distinction between the acceptable and unacceptable acts they are supposed to exhibit whenever they get on social media platforms. With the adoption of the survey approach, this study randomly selected 204 students from two renowned universities in Ghana to participate in the study. Using the theory of Technological Determinism, the results of this study indicated that technology has the power to influence human behaviour in a positive and negative manner. The results also brought out the acceptable and unacceptable behaviour that should or should not be exhibited on social media sites by students. The study established the importance of the theory of Technological Determinism to media use. It also gave a vivid description of what is right and not right on social media sites.

전통적 혁신 이론에서 과학과 기술은 공공재와 지식으로 다루어지며, 이러한 관점은 선형모델과 기술 결정론을 자연스럽게 도출시킨다. 그러나 과학과 기술을 새롭게 규정하는 신혁신 이론에서는 기술의 사회적 형성을 강조하며, 선형 모델에서 탈피하여 혁신과정의 상호작용, 네트워크, 시스템 측면을 포섭하고 있다.

This study aims at integrating the sociological study of technology and the economic study of technological learning. It is argued that the sociological approaches of innovation have some strong points in criticizing technological determinism, but have some weak points in explaining how the knowledge base for innovation is accumulated. On the contrary, the economic approaches of innovation have strong points in explaining technology accumulation, but ignore socio-political process of innovation. This study suggests the model which integrates the socio-political process and technological loaming process.

이 연구는 정보화 분야 ODA를 통해 확산된 인터넷이 권위주의적이거나 폐쇄적인 개발도상국의 정치 체제에 민주적 변화를 가져오는지에 대해 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 연구 결과, IT ODA는 개발도상국의 인터넷 확산에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 ODA를 통한 IT이전이 개발도상국에 인프라를 구축하고 인터넷의 이용률을 높임으로써 정치적 민주화를 이끌 것이라는 공여국의 기대를 뒷받침하는 것처럼 보인다. 그러나 인터넷 확산에 대한 IT ODA의 영향이 크지 않은데다 인터넷 확산 역시 개발도상국의 민주주의 발전에 강한 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 또한, 국가마다 상이한 양자구조를 보여 낙관적 기술결정론에 기초한 민주화 가설을 지지한다고 보기는 어려웠다. 따라서 이 연구는 IT ODA를 이행함에 있어 선진국의 IT이전이 개발도상국의 정치적 민주화를 이끌 것이라는 '맹목적' 믿음에 기초하기보다 국가마다의 특수성과 고유성을 고려하여야 하며, IT ODA의 효과에 대한 논의 또한 건설적 방향으로 나아가야 함을 요구한다.

The past studies on the change of industrial location can be reinterpreted as spatial determinism, decision making process determinism and industrial sturcure determinism according to the view of the mutual operation between the economic activity and spatial structure. From the point of the industrial structure determinism which focuses on the fact that the locational type of production activity can be differenciated by the structural change of industry itself, it is proper to explain the change of industrial location not only by spatial condition but also by containing the fundamental changing causes for the reorganization of the spatial condition. One of the most important changing causes for reorganizing economic space is industrial technology. This study aims to explain the spatialization process of industrial technology and consists of the process of suggesting the hypothesis that the spatialization process is differentiated according to the production organization as the user of industrial technology and the user of industrial technology and the production system as using method. In other words, this study attempts to internalize the technology variable, which has been treated as external in the past studies on the industrial location, as an independent one and consider the production organization and production system as a paramenter, so that it can represent 'conceptual framework' for explaining the change of industrial location.

본 논문은 지리학자들이 정보통신기술의 발전에 따라 논의의 폭을 현실공간으로 가상공간으로 넓혀왔던 연구 흐름을 정리하고, 이를 바탕으로 경제지리학의 새로운 연구 주제 발굴을 위한 이론 및 방법론을 모색하고자 한다. 정보통신지리학은 2000년을 전후하여 유선 인터넷 기반시설의 지리적 분석을 중심으로 활발하게 연구되었으나, 무선 인터넷 시대에 들어 그 전통이 충분히 계승되지 못하였다. 가상지리학 연구는 현실공간과 가상공간이 서로를 어떻게 확장, 재생산 또는 제약할 수 있는지에 대해 밝혀왔지만, 그 구체적인 정도에 대한 실증연구가 더욱 필요하다. 이에 대하여 본 논문은 가상공간의 지리적 물리성을 실증적으로 밝히기 위한 도구로 정보통신지리학과 가상지리학의 결합이 유용할 것이라고 주장한다. 이를 통해 시시각각으로 변화하는 21세기의 경제 공간을 보다 정확히 이해하고 효과적으로 분석할 수 있을 것이다. 아울러 정보통신지리학과 가상지리학의 실증 연구들이 데이터결정론 및 기술결정론으로 비판받을 수 있음을 주지하며, 4차 산업혁명 시대에 경제지리학이 나아갈 길을 제시한다.

21세기를 막 들어선 세계는 과거 산업혁명, 종교개혁 등에 전혀 뒤쳐지지 않는 정보사회의 변화의 소용돌이에 휘말리고 있다. 이러한 정보사회를 설명할 수 있는 가장 일반적인 관점이 바로 기술결정론이라고 말할 수 있을 것이다. 정보기술이 곧 특정한 모습의 정보 사회를 가져올 것이라는 믿음이다. 기술 결정론이란 기술변화의 경로가 필연적이며 특정한 사회 변화를 요구한다는 견해를 의미한다[2]. 그러나 기술이 특정한 사회 변화를 요구함에 있어서, 기술의 발전의 정도 또한 중요하지만 기술의 신뢰감도 사회를 변화시키는 데 커다란 기여를 하게된다. 이러한 전제로 본 연구에서도 인터넷 기술에 대한 사람들의 신뢰감 정도에 따라 사회 변화와 개인의 변화가 다르게 나타날 수 있다는 견해를 가지고 진행하였다. 인터넷 익명성의 신뢰도에 따른 실명제의 선호도와 이용자의 행위에 미치는 영향력을 일반 사용자와 인터넷 관련 업계 종사자 간의 차이를 설문을 중심으로 분석하고, 인터넷 익명성의 가능성 및 당위성 그리고 역기능에 대한 해소방안을 제안하여 실명제의 논의와 인터넷 웹사이트의 익명성 정책에 대한 기준 자료를 제시하는데 그 목적을 두고 살펴보고자 한다.

본 연구는 국내의 디지털도서관 연구 및 디지털도서관 용어 사용을 분석함으로써, 디지털도서관에 대한 논의가 기술중심적 혹은 기술결정론적 방향으로 진행되어 왔다는 것을 밝히고 있다. 그러나 디지털도서관은 다양한 이종의 구성요소들이 사회적 상호작용 과정을 통하여 구성되는 사회기술망으로 인식될 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 사회기술망으로서의 디지털도서관을 이해하고 분석하기 위하여 사회정보학과 STIN 모델이 적용되어야 한다는 것을 제안한다.

The paper studies on the cooperation between the humanities & social sciences and natural science & technology in 1990's. The article showed policy alternatives about the crisis of humanities & social sciences. That was science wars and we heard that was announced by Sokal affair. In this article, the author inquired into the Korean research policy's crisis and presented the policy alternatives about the crisis of humanities & social sciences and natural science & technology in various ways. In the concrete, the policy alternatives are cultural critique of technology and science and science & development of domain about interdisciplinary studies at the humanities & social science and natural science & technology. In conclusion, First, the author showed the appraisal and institutionalization of interdisciplinary studies. Second, the researcher proposed few policy alternatives and developmental area of interdisciplinary studies between the humanities & social sciences and natural science & technology.

This paper discusses the 'identity' issue of academic libraries and librarians in South Korea. With the rapid social changes, both academic libraries and librarians in South Korea are confronted with a crisis for survival. This paper criticizes the two main social ideology led to such a crisis : namely, the extreme forms of capitalism and technological determinism. To overcome the present crisis, this paper recommends the academic libraries to recover or reform their identity as a cultural, expecially, knowledge organization, not just as an information agency. Also recommended for academic librarians is to make their best effort to be a real professional with the required knowledge and experience.
