Behaviour on social media sites need to be clearly defined so that students would know the clear distinction between the acceptable and unacceptable acts they are supposed to exhibit whenever they get on social media platforms. With the adoption of the survey approach, this study randomly selected 204 students from two renowned universities in Ghana to participate in the study. Using the theory of Technological Determinism, the results of this study indicated that technology has the power to influence human behaviour in a positive and negative manner. The results also brought out the acceptable and unacceptable behaviour that should or should not be exhibited on social media sites by students. The study established the importance of the theory of Technological Determinism to media use. It also gave a vivid description of what is right and not right on social media sites.

Science and technology are regarded as public goods and knowledge in traditional innovation theory. Also, linear innovation model and technological determinism are derived from its theory. This is changed, however, in new innovation theory. Social shaping of technology is emphasized and interaction, network, system characters of innovation process are involved in its theory.

This study aims at integrating the sociological study of technology and the economic study of technological learning. It is argued that the sociological approaches of innovation have some strong points in criticizing technological determinism, but have some weak points in explaining how the knowledge base for innovation is accumulated. On the contrary, the economic approaches of innovation have strong points in explaining technology accumulation, but ignore socio-political process of innovation. This study suggests the model which integrates the socio-political process and technological loaming process.

This research has a purpose to verify whether the Internet diffusion through the Official Development Assistance (ODA) can bring about democratic changes in authoritarian political system of developing countries. This research has found out that IT ODA has 'positive(+)' effect on the Internet diffusion in recipient countries. It seems to support the expectation of donor countries that they can lead the political democratization by constructing infrastructure and promoting the use of the Internet. However, as the impact of IT ODA on the Internet diffusion is not considerable as well as the Internet diffusion has no strong influence on the development of democracy in developing countries, and also each of these aspects of countries looks different, it is hard to see that the democratization hypothesis based on the optimistic technological determinism is reasonable. Therefore, this paper argues that IT ODA must be based on not blind optimism that IT transfer will lead to the political democratization in developing countries, but the social structuralism which is based on distinctiveness and uniqueness of countries. and suggests that the discuss of the effect of IT ODA proceed with the constructive way.

The past studies on the change of industrial location can be reinterpreted as spatial determinism, decision making process determinism and industrial sturcure determinism according to the view of the mutual operation between the economic activity and spatial structure. From the point of the industrial structure determinism which focuses on the fact that the locational type of production activity can be differenciated by the structural change of industry itself, it is proper to explain the change of industrial location not only by spatial condition but also by containing the fundamental changing causes for the reorganization of the spatial condition. One of the most important changing causes for reorganizing economic space is industrial technology. This study aims to explain the spatialization process of industrial technology and consists of the process of suggesting the hypothesis that the spatialization process is differentiated according to the production organization as the user of industrial technology and the user of industrial technology and the production system as using method. In other words, this study attempts to internalize the technology variable, which has been treated as external in the past studies on the industrial location, as an independent one and consider the production organization and production system as a paramenter, so that it can represent 'conceptual framework' for explaining the change of industrial location.

This paper reviews how geographers have embraced the information and communication technology and expanded their perspectives from real space to virtual space. Information and communication geography research on the wired internet infrastructure began in the late 1990s, but the tradition has not been succeeded for the wireless internet technology. While the relationship-expansion, reproduction, and constraint-between real and virtual spaces have been studied by virtual geography scholars, we need more empirical research to reveal to what extent the two spaces impact to each other. To empirically investigate the physicality of the virtual, it will be useful to combine information and communication geography and virtual geography. However, it should be noted that empirical studies in the subfields can be criticized as being data- or technological deterministic.

Today's society is being caught in a whirlpool of change that is not behind the Industrial Revolution, the Reformation and so on. Technological determinism is the most general perspective that explains information society. It is the belief that information technology will bring about a particular form of information society. It is the opinion that the sequence of change of technology is inevitable and asks for a particular social change(Kim, 2006). When technology asks for it, however, not only the degree of technological development but also the credibility of the degree of technological development plays an important role in changing a society. This study was implemented based on the opinion that social change and individual change can vary depending on the degree of trust of people in the Internet technology. This study analyzes preferences of real-name system depending on the credibility of anonymity on the Internet and its influences on the behaviors of users, focused on the survey on the difference between ordinary users and users related to the Internet business. It also suggests not only the potential and the appropriateness of anonymity on the Internet, but also measures to alleviate adverse effects of it. Lastly, the objective of this study is to offer a dispute of real-name system and the standard of the anonymity policy on web sites.

Through analyzing papers on digital libraries and the contexts of usage of the term, ‘digital library’, this study investigates that the professional discourses about digital libraries regard them digital technologies. But digital libraries need to be recognized as socio-technical networks which are constructed by social interaction between heterogeneous elements. The study suggested that Social Informatics and a STIN(Socio-Technical Interaction Network) model should be applied to understand and analyze digital libraries as socio-technical networks.

The paper studies on the cooperation between the humanities & social sciences and natural science & technology in 1990's. The article showed policy alternatives about the crisis of humanities & social sciences. That was science wars and we heard that was announced by Sokal affair. In this article, the author inquired into the Korean research policy's crisis and presented the policy alternatives about the crisis of humanities & social sciences and natural science & technology in various ways. In the concrete, the policy alternatives are cultural critique of technology and science and science & development of domain about interdisciplinary studies at the humanities & social science and natural science & technology. In conclusion, First, the author showed the appraisal and institutionalization of interdisciplinary studies. Second, the researcher proposed few policy alternatives and developmental area of interdisciplinary studies between the humanities & social sciences and natural science & technology.

This paper discusses the 'identity' issue of academic libraries and librarians in South Korea. With the rapid social changes, both academic libraries and librarians in South Korea are confronted with a crisis for survival. This paper criticizes the two main social ideology led to such a crisis : namely, the extreme forms of capitalism and technological determinism. To overcome the present crisis, this paper recommends the academic libraries to recover or reform their identity as a cultural, expecially, knowledge organization, not just as an information agency. Also recommended for academic librarians is to make their best effort to be a real professional with the required knowledge and experience.
