Rehabilitation of hospital buildings using passive control systems

  • In the case of hospital buildings, where seismic design requirements are very high, existing structuresand especially those attacked by past earthquakes, appear, often, unable to fulfil the necessary safety prerequisites. In this paper, the retrofitting of hospital buildings is investigated, using alternative methods of repair and strengthening. Analysis of an existing hospital building in Patras, Greece, is performed. The load-bearing system is a reinforced concrete system. Two solutions are proposed: strengthening using concrete jackets around column and beam elements and application of viscoelastic dampers for the increase of the stability of the structure. Adequate finite element models are constructed for each case and conclusions are drawn on the efficiency of each rehabilitation method.

Experimental study on the performance of a turbocompound diesel engine with variable geometry turbocharger

  • Turbocompounding is a key technology to satisfy the future requirements of diesel engine's fuel economy and emission reduction. A turbocompound diesel engine was developed based on a conventional 11-Liter heavy-duty diesel engine. The turbocompound system includes a power turbine, which is installed downstream of a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) turbine. The impacts of the VGT rack position on the turbocompound engine performance were studied. An optimal VGT control strategy was determined. Experimental results show that the turbocompound engine using the optimal VGT control strategy achieves better performance than the original engine under all full load operation conditions. The averaged and maximum reductions of the brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) are 3% and 8% respectively.

  • As the functional and nonfunctional requirements of defence systems become more complex and precise, concerning about the systematic development of software embedded into the defence systems has become surged up. In order to develop more reliable and correct software, and to extend the life cycle of the developing software, adoption of some engineering technologies such as development process, methodology, CASE tools and documentation is essentially required. This paper introduce an approach to technical information management in embedded software development process, with an instance, airborne ECM system development project. Particularly, we suggest and explain how to guide the software development according to process and methodology, and how to generate technical documents using CASE tool.

  • 스마트 디바이스의 수가 급증함에 따라 다양한 스크린들 간의 협업을 통하여 사용자들에게 새로운 사용자 경험(User Experience)을 제공할 수 있는 N-스크린서비스에 대한 수요가 급증하고 있으며, 이는 사용자들에게 기술적 풍요를 제공하는 동시에 새로운 보안상의 약점을 유발하게 되었다. 본 논문은 기존의 다양한 웹 공격유형에 대하여 분석하고, 미래 N-스크린서비스 시나리오들을 기반으로 웹콘텐츠의 이동/결합/분리를 위한 새로운 보안 요구사항을 제안하고 이를 구체적으로 정리하고 분석해 본다. 또한, N스크린 환경에서 웹콘텐츠의 이동을 통하여 사용자의 개인 정보가 공공 디바이스를 통해 외부로 공개되는 것을 방지할 수 있는 방안이 적용된 N스크린 협업서비스 프레임워크에 대해서 살펴본다.

  • 시스템의 소프트웨어 아키텍처를 설계하기 위해서는 여러 아키텍처 스타일들이 복합적으로 결합하여 시스템의 전체적인 아키텍처를 구성하게 된다. 이 때 다양한 아키텍처 스타일 즉, 아키텍처 접근법들 중 어떤 것을 선택할 것인가는 완성될 시스템이 어떤 기능적, 비 기능적 품질요구사항을 만족시켜야 하는지에 따라 달라지게 된다. 본 논문에서는 아키텍처 접근법 선정을 위한 평가모델을 기반으로 아키텍처 접근법의 기술적인(technical) 부분에 대한 평가를 통해 시스템의 요구사항에 대한 만족도를 결정하여 가장 적합한 아키텍처 접근법을 선정하도록 하는 평가 방법을 정의하고, 메시지 시스템의 아키텍처 접근법을 선정 시 본 평가 방법을 적용하는 사례연구를 통해 본 평가 방법을 검증한다.

다수의 마켓 세그먼트 하에서 품질기능전개 시(時) 기술특성들의 최적 값을 결정하기 위한 혼합정수계획모형 (Mixed Integer Linear Programming Model to Determine the Optimal Levels of Technical Attributes in QFD under Multi-Segment Market)

  • Quality function deployment (QFD) is a widely adopted customer-oriented product development methodology by analyzing customer requirements. It is a main activity in QFD planning process to determine the optimal values of the technical attributes (TAs) so as to achieve the customer requirements (CRs) from the House of Quality (HoQ). In most of the previous research, all the TAs in QFD are assumed to have either continuous or discrete values. In the real world applications, the continuous TAs and the discrete TAs are often mixed in QFD. In this paper, a mixed integer linear programming model is formulated to obtain the optimal values for the continuous TAs and the discrete TAs in QFD planning as well as Branch and Bound (B and B) algorithm is proposed as the solution approach. Finally, the proposed model and solution approach are illustrated with an office chair under multi-segment market, and the sensitivity analysis is performed to study how the proposed model and its solutions respond to the variation for the two elements which are budget and CRs' weights.

  • 본 논문에서는 철도차량 전문가 집단으로부터 주어진 다수의 철도차량 경량화 설계대안의 효과도를 평가하고 최적 대안을 제시하는 기법을 제안한다. 먼저 철도차량 경량화에 대한 다양한 분야에서 고객의 요구사항을 파악하고 AHP를 이용하여 가중치를 산출한다. 그리고 차량 제작을 위한 실질적인 설계사양인 기술적 특성을 도출하고 QFD를 이용하여 각 특성에 대한 가중치를 산정한다. 마지막으로 제시된 다양한 경량화 철도차량의 대안은 TOPSIS를 이용하여 평가하고 최적의 대안을 결정한다.

  • True process collaboration can be accomplished through seamless integration of business processes and enterprise knowledge. Therefore, it is natural that the concept of Business Operating System (BOS), proposed by Delphi Group in 1994, is currently considered as a next evolutionary step for Business Process Management System (BPMS). Literature reports very little work, however, especially, on a comprehensive architecture of the system. This paper proposes an architecture of BOS with the following definition: ' BOS is an intelligent activity supporting system that provides a comprehensive and personalized work environment to each knowledge-intensive worker. ' To propose an architecture of BOS, the paper first identifies and classifies functional requirements for Business Operating System. Then, it proposes a data model and an architecture of the system to satisfy the functional requirements. The proposed architecture focuses on two essential technical requirements. First, the system should provide an effective means to integrate data and processes and to standardize distributed component systems. Secondly, the system should also be intelligent enough to assist workers to perform their knowledge-intensive work. The paper shows how these requirements can be achieved by using Semantic Web and Web Service.

A Study on the Analysis of Quality Attributes on the Software Architecture for Development of a Navigation System Platform of Autonomous Ships

  • Technology-driven development of a new system makes it difficult for users and stakeholders to identify or intervene in the development process, resulting in systems with unnecessary functions and poor quality services. Applying the software architecture design process to the initial design of the navigation system platform of autonomous ships enables the development of a system that reflects the required functions and service quality of the stakeholders. The design, which includes all of the subsystems that make up an autonomous ship platform, is close to an enterprise architecture. Thus, we strived to design a navigation system platform suitable for the design range of the software architecture. This study analyzed the definition of functional requirements, and quality attributes by applying the software architecture design procedure. This study was conducted to identify the characteristics of the navigation system and platform needs, and the stakeholders were identified. To derive the functional requirements and constraints of the platform, a quality attributes workshop was held engaging stakeholders, and the results of the analysis of functional requirements and quality attributes were listed. Based on the results of this study, the architect can establish the evidence and technical solutions that are integral for the architecture development, and will facilitate the creation of quality attribute scenarios.

  • 본 연구에서는 충돌해석 프로그램의 해석 결과와 실제 시험결과에 대한 비교를 통하여 충돌해석 프로그램의 신뢰성에 대한 검증을 진행하였으며, 충돌해석 프로그램을 이용하여 도시철도차량에서 요구하는 차량 편성에 대한 충돌 해석 결과를 제시하였다.
