  • This study observed how school resilience of adolescents from multi-cultural families was influenced by risk factors and protective factors. Furthermore, this study verified which protective factor moderated factor to exert positive influence on school resilience. The results showed that risk factors negatively influenced school resilience and protective factors positively influenced school resilience with statistical significance. The results showed that 'high self-esteem' moderated 'negative rearing attitude', 'positive attitude' moderated 'negative rearing attitude' and 'parent conflict', whereas 'teacher support' moderated 'negative rearing attitude' to significantly increase school resilience. The study suggested a measure that can reduce risk factors to increase school resilience of children from multi-cultural families according to the moderation relationship between protective factors and risk factors.

  • This study is aimed at putting forward effective methods of computer education for use in schools by comparing the schools of UK and Korea. It shows : 1) a big difference in infrastructure such as H/W and Network, 2) for S/W budget UK teachers have control over their own budget, but not in Korea, 3) government, school, teacher, student, and parent all have the same mind set to promote the use of information communication technology in the UK, but in Korea the government alone drives it with its own policy. At University level, potential computer teachers in the UK are emphasized to practice fields works in schools, but in Korea, the course mainly consists of education theory and pre-teachers get only four weeks field experience. In addition, computer teachers are often those with majors in different fields, but due to the lack of interest in computer education, they are forced into these empty positions. This often leads to conflict between students and teachers because of those teachers who do not have the necessary depth in knowledge of computers.

  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a relatively common condition of childhood onset and is of significant educational and social concern in elementary school. Investigating the determinants of teachers' attitudes and behavior and their relative importance is crucial for improving teaching practices and initial teacher education for effective inclusion of ADHD children. Based on two hundred and twenty seven survey responses from elementary school teachers, having experienced in dealing with ADHD students, this paper examines the age, gender, career and training-hours effects on the knowledge, attitude, stress and inclusive education involving ADHD children. The regression analysis shows that the gender influences the level of stress and that the training hours has some impact on the knowledge about ADHD at 5% significance level. However, the number of ADHD children experienced, age, gender, career and training-hours were identified as the non-significant predictors of teaching behavior in relation to ADHD children. As a conclusion, a brief discussion concerning the critical needs of elementary school teachers is also presented.
