This paper introduces a methodology of the precise control of a mobile/task robot using visual information captured bythe camera attached at the hand of the task robot. The major problem residing in the precise control of mobile/task robot is providing an accurate and stable base for the task robot through the precise control of mobile robot. On account of uncertainties on the surface, the precise control of mobile robot is not feasible without using external position sensor. In this paper, the methodology for the precise control of mobile robot is proposed, which recognizes the position of mobile robot using the camera attached at the hand of the task robot. While the task robot is approaching to an assembly part, the position of mobile robot is measured using the line correspondence between the image capturesd by the camera and the real assembly part, and using the kinematic transformation from the hand of the task robot to the mobile robot. To verify the solidness of this method, experimental data for the measurement of camera position/orientation and for the precise control of mobile robot using measurement are shown.
The present paper deals with obtaining the proper application criteria for the control mode, by using computer graphic simulation, in order to recover the error effectively occurring in the practical supervisory contol work of hyman-robot system. In these experiments the opteations by human and by control program are performed as control modes for recovering the error. And then we compare and analyze tow control modes taking task error and task time as performance measures and task difficulty as a variable factor. Consequently as the task difficulty increases, the task error in the operation by hyman tends to be less than in the operation by control program and the task time is superior in the operation by control program. Therefore, we suggest that two control modes should be used jointly for recovering the error and the operation by control program should be applied in major fraction of control and the operation by human in minor fraction of control.

This study examines changes in walking ability among patients with stroke after applying dual-task training under the condition of visual control and unstable supporting ground; the purpose is to provide reference data for selecting intervention methods that enhance the walking ability of patients with stroke. Among the patients with stroke who received rehabilitation treatment(at Rehabilitation Hospital B in Gyeonggi, South Korea from May 2014 to July 2014), 29 patients were selected as research subjects; all of them understood the purpose and contents of this research and agreed to participate in the experiment. The research subjects were divided into a visual control and unstable supporting ground dual-task(VUDT) group(10 patients), a visual control dual-task(VDT) group(10 patients), and an unstable supporting ground dual-task(UDT) group(9 patients); all of the subjects received 30-minute trainings, three times a week for a total of four weeks. A Timed-Up-and-Go(TUG) test was performed to investigate the change of walking function among the subjects, and a 10m walking test was conducted to measure their walking speed. According to the study results, all three groups showed significant differences after dual-task training; the dual-task training group under the condition of visual control and unstable supporting ground showed the most prominent change. This study confirmed that dual-task training using visual control and unstable supporting ground has a positive impact on the walking ability of patients with stroke. Through the study results, we found that implementing dual-task training under the condition of visual control and unstable supporting ground can more effectively improve the walking ability of patients with stroke, rather than performing visual control dual-task training or unstable supporting ground dual-task training only.
This study examined whether any changes by mental task types on postural control in chronic stroke persons. Sixteen chronic stroke persons (mean age=53.75 yr) and sixteen age-and gender-matched healthy controls (mean age=54.44 yr) took part in this study. Participants randomly performed three different tasks on the stable and unstable surfaces. The no mental task was to stand while holding a 100 g weight in each hand, the arithmetic task (mental task) was to perform a silent 1-backwards counting while standing and holding a 100 g weight in each hand, and the simple task (mental task) was to stand and hold with both hands a tray (200 g) on which a glass filled with water has been placed. Sway path and sway velocity of the center of pressure (COP) were measured to assess standing postural control by task performance using the force platform. According to the results, in stroke group, total sway path and total sway velocity of COP was significantly decreased during arithmetic and simple task compared to no mental task on the stable surface (p<.05), and sway path (anteroposterior AP, mediolateral ML) of COP, total and sway velocity (AP, ML, total) of COP was significantly decreased during arithmetic and simple task compared to no mental task on the unstable surface (p<.05). Especially, sway path (AP, total) of COP and sway velocity (AP, ML, total) of COP was significantly decreased under the simple task when compared to the arithmetic task on the unstable surface (p<.05). In healthy control group, sway path (AP, ML, total) of COP and sway velocity (AP, ML, total) of COP was significantly decreased during arithmetic and simple task compared to no mental task on the stable and unstable surface (p<.05), and sway path (AP, total) of COP and sway velocity (AP, ML, total) of COP was significantly decreased under the simple task when compared to the arithmetic task on the unstable surface (p<.05). In conclusion, the findings of this study showed that arithmetic and simple task improved standing postural control for chronic stroke patients and the type of arithmetic and simple tasks were critical factor that reduced standing postural sway in dual-task conditions. Future research should determine whether dual-task conditions, including simple task, would be effective as a training program for standing postural control of stroke patients.
This paper presents a cooperative control method for multiple robots. This method is based on local sensors. The proposed method integrates all information obtained by local perception through a set of sensors and generates commands without logical conflicts in designing control logic. To control multiple robots effectively, a global control strategy is proposed. These methods are constructed by using AND/OR logic and transition firing sequences in Petri nets. To evaluate these methods, the object-searching task is introduced. This task is to search an object like a box by two robots and consists of two sub-tasks, i.e., a wall tracking task and a robot tracking task. Simulation results for the object-searching task and the wall tracking task are presented to show the effectiveness of the method.

This paper presents a new concept of a reconfigurable manipulator system which adjusts its mechanical structure to suit the kinematic characteristics of a given task. A highly redundant manipulator designed as a general purpose manipulator needs to be reconfigured for a specific task. A general task can be decomposed of motion and force components with different control requirements: either gross motion control or fine motion control. Each of these task components are distributed to each part of the manipulator based on the control requirements and the structure of the manipulator. Through the reconfiguration, a redundant manipulator is decomposed into two local arms, and the kinematic characteristics of each local arm is adjusted to suit the assigned task. The reconfigured redundant manipulator has two local arms well-configured for the local tasks and cooperating in serial for a given task. This globally enhances the performance of a redundant manipulator to execute a specific task. The simulation results are shown.
A mobile manipulator-a serial connection of a mobile robot and a task robot is redundant by itself. Using its redundant freedom, a mobile manipulator can move in various modes, and perform dexterous tasks. An interesting question,

This paper presents a semi-automatic methodology to synthesize executable digital controller saftware in a multi-loop control system. A digital controller is described by a task graph and end-to-end timing requirements. A task graph denotes the software structure of the controller, and the end-to-end requirements establish timing relationships between external inputs and outputs. Our approach translates the end-to-end requirements into a set of task attributes such as task periods and deadlines using nonlinear optimization techniques. Such attributes are essential for control engineers to implement control programs and schedule them in a control system with limited resources. In current engineering practice, human programmers manually derive those attributes in an ad hoc manner: they often resort to radical over-sampling to safely guarantee the given timing requirements, and thus render the resultant system poorly utilized. After task-specific attributes are derived, the tasks are scheduled on a single CPU and the compiled kernel is synthesized. We illustrate this process with a non-trivial servo motor control system.

A real-time control system, composed of the controlled processor and the controller computer(s), may have a variety of task types, some of which have tight timing-constraints in generating the correct control input. The maximum period of those task failures tolerable by the system is called the hard deadline, which depends on not only fault characteristics but also task characteristics. In the paper, we extend a method deriving the hard deadline in LTI system executing single task. An algorithm to combine the deadlines of all the elementary tasks in the same operation-mode is proposed to derive the hard deadline of the entire system. For the end, we modify the state equation for the task to capture the effects of task failures (delays in producing correct values) and inter-correlation. We also classify the type of executing the tasks according to operation modes associated with relative importance of correlated levels among tasks, into series, parallel, and cascade modes. Some examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
This paper gives the detail of the work carried out to develop real-time control software for Flexible Manufacturing Systems. A basic design philosophy to implement such software is proposed. The major features are the partitioning of complicated control actions into simplified ones, structured programming and multi-threaded transaction-based tasks. The software operates on the basis of passing task-to-task messages via mailboxes, causing appropriate actions to be taken by each task. Each task represents a separate subprocess so that the subprocesses can be run simultaneously. The task-to-task message could be easily replaced by computer-to-computer communication, using LAN, demonstrating that the software methods developed produce a flexible designs for control software of an FMS. A method of linking such software to simulation software is suggested as a potentially powerful additional design-tool.
