The representation of color with natural dyes is closely related with the modern well-being life. This study is focused on the representation of target color of the blue, yellow, and red color system, these color sources were originated from the green tea, gardenia, and black rice respectively. The quantitative numerical value of brightness (L), color coordinates (a, b) were designated for the target color, the optimum color nearest to the target value was extracted with the solvent pH, temperature, and extraction time. The longer the extraction time had more thickening color in case of the gardenia. The L-a-b coordinate of extracted color were analyzed with the color difference meter and compared with the target color. The experimental variables were optimized to extract the color of the smallest ${\Delta}E$ with the target color. As a result, the CIE standard value was proposed and the color was represented.

Background: Clinical use of propofol along with remifentanil for intravenous sedation is increasing in these days, but there are not enough researches to evaluate proper target concentration when these drugs are infused by using target controlled infusion (TCI) pump in dental treatment cases. In this study, we compared efficacy of TCI conscious sedation and target concentration of propofol when it used with or without remifentanil during conscious sedation with the help of a TCI for the surgical extraction of impacted teeth. Methods: After IRB approval, all the charts of patients who had undergone surgical extraction of impacted teeth under propofol TCI sedation for 6 months were selected and reviewed for this study. After reviewal of charts, we could divide patients in two groups. In one group (group 1), only propofol was selected for sedation and initial effect site concentration of propofol was $1{\mu}g/ml$ (n = 33), and in another group (group 2), both propofol and remifentanil was infused and initial effect site concentration of each drug was $0.6{\mu}g/ml$ and 1 ng/ml respectively (n = 25). For each group, average propofol target concentration was measured. In addition, we compared heart rate, respiratory rate, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as oxygen saturation. Besides, BIS, sedation scores (OAAS/S), and subjective satisfaction scores were compared. Results: Between group 1 and 2, there were no significant differences in demographics (age, weight and height), and total sedation time. However, total infused dose and the effect site target concentration of propofol was $163.8{\pm}74.5mg$ and $1.13{\pm}0.21{\mu}g/ml$ in group 1, and $104.3{\pm}46.5mg$ and $0.72{\pm}0.26{\mu}g/ml$ in the group 2 with $1.02{\pm}0.21ng/l$ of the effect site target concentration of remifentanil, respectively. During sedation, there were no differences between overall vital sign, BIS and OAAS/S in 2 groups (P > 0.05). However, we figured out patients in group 2 had decreased pain sensation during sedation. Conclusions: Co-administration of propofol along with remifentanil via a TCI for the surgical extraction of impacted teeth may be safe and effective compared to propofol only administration.

A PSRI (position, scale, and rotation invariant ) feature extraction and automatic target recognition system using a cooperative network and an MLP is proposed. We can extract position invarient features by obtaining the target center using the projection and the moment in preprocessing stage. The scale and rotation invariant features are extracted from the contour projection of the number of edge pixels on each of the concentric circles, which is input to the cooperative network. By extracting the representative PSRI features form the features and their differentiations using max-net and min-net, we can rdduce the number of input neurons of the MLP, and make the resulted automatic target recognition system less sensitive to input variances. Experiments are conduted on various complex images which are shifted, rotated, or scaled, and the results show that the proposed system is very efficient for PSRI feature extractions and automatic target recognitions.

Laser scanning technology with high positional accuracy and high density automation will be widely applied in vast range of fields including geomatics. Especially, the development of laser scanning technology enabling long range information extraction is increasing its full use in civil engineering. The purpose of this study is to extract accurate highway geometric information taking the advantages of scanning technology. Fulfilling this goal, the information of target highway's three-dimensional data was obtained through terrestrial laser scanning technology. In accordance with the result from target highway's geometric information extraction using the information above, laser scanning technology showed faster speed and better accuracy on highway geometric information extraction with reduced cost compared to traditional methods.

Near targets in the infrared (IR) images have the steady feature for inner region and the transient feature for the boundary region. Based on these features, this paper proposes a new method to extract the fine target shape of near targets in the IR images. First, we detect the boundary region of the candidate targets using the local variance weighted information entropy (WIE) of the original images. And then, a coarse target region can be estimated based on the labeling of the boundary region. For the coarse target region, we use the opening filter with an adaptive structure element to extract the fine target shape. The decision of the adaptive structure element size is optimized for the width information of target boundary by calculating the average WIE in the enlarged windows. The experimental results show that a proposed method has better extraction performance than the previous threshold algorithms.

Detecting target objects robustly in natural environments is a difficult problem in the computer vision and image processing areas. This paper suggests a method of robustly detecting target objects in the environments where reflection exists. The suggested algorithm first captures scenes with a stereo camera and extracts the line and corner features representing the target objects. This method then eliminates the reflected features among the extracted ones using a homographic transform. Subsequently, the method robustly detects the target objects by clustering only real features. The experimental results showed that the suggested algorithm effectively detects the target objects in reflection environments rather than existing algorithms.

In this paper, target extraction method in FLIR(forward-looking infrared) images based on fuzzy thresholding which used bi-modality and adjacency to determine membership value is proposed. The bi-modality represents how a pixel is classified into a part of target using distribution of pixel values in a local region, and The adjacency is a measure to represent how each pixel is far from the target region. First, membership value is calculated using above two measures, and then fuzzy thresholding is performed to extract the target. To evaluate performance of proposed target extraction method, we compare other segmentation methods using various FLIR tank image. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is a good segmentation performance.

Microwave extraction system equipped with closed vessels, which is known to rapidly extract target compounds from natural products, was applied to monitor the changes in phenolic compounds, browning color intensity and electron donating ability by using response surface methodology(RSM). Maximum content of phenolic compound was 21.65mg/100ml in 67.88% of ethanol concentration, 145oC of extraction temperature, and 6.24min of extraction time. The phenolic compounds in extracts are dependent on the increase of the extraction temperature and the ethanol concentration. Browning color intensity, which was maximized in 67.21%, 147oC, and 6.02min, was proportional to the increase of the extraction temperature. Maximum value of electron donating ability was 24.50units in 54.33%, 147oC, and 6.11 min. The electron donating ability of extracts was dependent on the increase of extraction temperature and maximized in the range from 50 to 65% of ethanol concentration.

This paper describes the extended pivot-based approach for bilingual lexicon extraction. The basic features of the approach can be described as follows: First, the approach builds context vectors between a source (or target) language and a pivot language like English, respectively. This is the same as the standard pivot-based approach which is useful for extracting bilingual lexicons between low-resource languages such as Korean-French. Second, unlike the standard pivot-based approach, the approach looks for similar context vectors in a source language. This is helpful to extract translation candidates for polysemous words as well as lets the translations be more confident. Third, the approach extracts translation candidates from target context vectors through the similarity between source and target context vectors. Based on these features, this paper describes the extended pivot-based approach and does various experiments in a language pair, Korean-French (KR-FR). We have observed that the approach is useful for extracting the most proper translation candidate as well as for a low-resource language pair.
Background: The objective of this study was to compare hemodynamic and recovery characteristics of total intravenous anesthesia using propofol target-controlled infusion (TCI) versus sevoflurane for extraction of four third molar teeth. Methods: One hundred patients undergoing extraction of four third molar teeth under general anesthesia were randomized to one of two groups. Group 1 received propofol TCI-oxygen for induction and propofol TCI-oxygen-air for maintenance. Group II received a propofol bolus of 2 mg/kg for induction and sevoflurane-oxygen-air for maintenance. Heart rate, mean arterial pressure (MAP), operating time, time to emergence, nausea and vomiting, and sedation and pain scores were measured in each group. Results: Demographic data, including age, gender, weight, and height, were not significantly different between the two groups. The MAP was significantly higher after intubation (P = 0.007) and injection of anesthesia (P = 0.004) in the propofol group than in the sevoflurane group, with significant reflex bradycardia (P = 0.028). The mean time to emergence from anesthesia using propofol was 25 s shorter than that of sevoflurane (P = 0.02). Postoperatively, the propofol group was less sedated than the sevoflurane group at 30 min (0.02 versus 0.12), but this difference was not significant (P = 0.065). Conclusion: Both propofol TCI and sevoflurane are good alternatives for induction and maintenance of anesthesia for short day-case surgery. However, propofol TCI does not blunt the hemodynamic response to sudden, severe stimuli as strongly as sevoflurane, and this limitation may be a cause for concern in patients with cardiac comorbidities.
