  • This study is to examine constructs influencing the acceptance of SMEs for VSPs and the efficiency of VSPs, based on the two theories theory of reasoned action (TRA) and technology acceptance model (TAM) in the context of venture support program in Korea. This study concentrates on the government's venture support policy (VSP), namely the examination of the efficiency of current government VSPs in terms of preferential treatment for SMEs experiencing many other venture support programs (the EXP policy), and the reduction of documents/processes related to venture support programs for SMEs so that they are easily accessible and implementable (the EASE policy). Additionally, this paper will suggest an effective way to encourage SMEs to succeed by analyzing the fundamental reasons for their acceptance of VSPs to attain their long-term goals.

  • Objectives: We assessed the public acceptance of a health information exchange (HIE) and examined factors that influenced the acceptance and associations among constructs of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Methods: We collected data from a survey of 1,000 individuals in Korea, which was administered through a structured questionnaire. We assessed the validity and reliability of the survey instrument with exploratory factor analysis and Cronbach's alpha coefficients. We computed descriptive statistics to assess the acceptance and performed regression analyses with a structural equation model to estimate the magnitude and significance of influences among constructs of TAM. Results: Eighty-seven percent of the respondents were willing to use the technology, and the average level of agreement with the need for the technology was 4.16 on a 5-point Likert scale. The perception of ease of use of the technology significantly influenced perceptions of usefulness and attitudes about the need for HIE. Perceptions of usefulness influenced attitude and behavioral intention to use HIE, and attitude influenced intention. Age showed a wide range of influences throughout the model, and experience with offline-based information exchange and health status also showed noteworthy influences. Conclusions: The public acceptance of HIE was high, and influences posited by TAM were mostly confirmed by the study results. The study findings indicated a need for an education and communication strategy tailored by population age, health status, and prior experience with offline-based exchange to gain public buy-in for a successful introduction of the technology.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the moderating effect of psychological empowerment on the relationship between technostress, the technology acceptance model, and the continuance intention of use. The results of the analyses are as follows: First, IT corporation workers' technostress had a negative effect on perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Second, psychological empowerment was found to regulate the relationship between technostress and the technology acceptance model. Third, the perceived ease of use of IT corporation workers had a significant positive effect on the continuance intention of use, and the perceived usefulness had a positive effect on the continuance intention of use. These findings imply that training and education should be continuously conducted to improve psychological empowerment as well as manage technostress.

  • Shanghanlun (Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases) is the oldest document in the literature on clinical records of Traditional Asian medicine (TAM), on which TAM theories about symptoms-herbs relationships are based. In this study, we aim to quantitatively explore the relationships between symptoms and herbs in Shanghanlun. The text in Shanghanlun was converted into structured data. Using the structured data, Term Frequency - Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) scores of symptoms and herbs were calculated from each chapter to derive the major symptoms and herbs in each chapter. To understand the structure of the entire document, principal component analysis (PCA) was performed for the 6-dimensional chapter space. Bipartite network analysis was conducted focusing on Jaccard scores between symptoms and herbs and eigenvector centralities of nodes. TF-IDF scores showed the characteristics of each chapter through major symptoms and herbs. Principal components drawn by PCA suggested the entire structure of Shanghanlun. The network analysis revealed a 'multi herbs - multi symptoms' relationship. Common symptoms and herbs were drawn from high eigenvector centralities of their nodes, while specific symptoms and herbs were drawn from low centralities. Symptoms expected to be treated by herbs were derived, respectively. Using measurable metrics, we conducted a computational study on patterns of Shanghanlun. Quantitative researches on TAM theories will contribute to improving the clarity of TAM theories.

  • Skeletal muscle accounts for about 40-50% of body weight and is an important tissue that performs various functions, such as maintaining posture, supporting soft tissues, maintaining body temperature, and respiration. Cancer, which occurs widely around the world, causes cancer cachexia accompanied by muscular atrophy, which reduces the effectiveness of anticancer drugs and greatly reduces the quality of life and survival rate of cancer patients. Therefore, research to improve cancer cachexia is ongoing. However, there are few studies on the link between cancer and muscle atrophy. Cancer cells exhibit distinct microenvironment and metabolism from tumor cells, including tumor-associated macrophages (TAM), tumor-associated neutrophils (TAN), and insulin resistance due to the Warburg effect. Therefore, we summarize the microenvironment and metabolic characteristics of cancer cells, and the molecular mechanisms of muscle atrophy that can be affected by cytokine and insulin resistance. In addition, this suggests the possibility of improving cancer cachexia of substances affecting TAM, TAN, and Warburg effect. We also summarize the mechanisms identified so far through single agents and the signaling pathways mediated by them that may ameliorate cancer cachexia.

  • The purposes of this research were to identify fish species using DNA barcodes or partial sequences of cytochrome b (Cytb) and to assess the diversity of fish in the Mae Tam reservoir, Phayao province, Thailand. Fish samples were collected 3 times, during the winter, summer, and rainy seasons, from 2 sampling sites using gillnets with 3 mesh sizes (30, 50, and 70 mm). A total of 34 representative samples were classified into 12 species, 7 families and 6 orders by morphological- and DNA barcoding-based identifications. However, one cichlid species, Cichlasoma trimaculatum, could only be identified using DNA barcoding. Family Cyprinidae had the greatest diversity, 50.00%. The diversity, richness and evenness indices ranged from 0.43-0.65, 0.64-1.46, and 0.27-0.40, respectively, indicating that fish diversity at both sampling sites was relatively low. A comparison of the catch per unit effort (CPUE) with 3 different mesh sizes found that the 50 mm mesh size was the best (474.80 ± 171.56 g/100 m2/night), followed by the 70 mm (417.41 ± 176.24 g/100 m2/night) and 30 mm mesh sizes (327.88 ± 115.60 g/100 m2/night). These results indicate that DNA barcoding is a powerful tool for species identification. Our data can be used for planning the sustainable management of fisheries resources in the Mae Tam reservoir.

  • The purpose of this paper is to (1) evaluate a proposed conceptual model based on integrated Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); (2) compare the differences between Vietnam and South Korea regarding the effects of consumer perception of CSR activities and technology acceptance on intention to adopt mobile banking. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was conducted to analyze the data collected from the field survey questionnaires administered to a convenience sample of Vietnamese and Korean banking customers. The results showed that there is a difference between South Korea and Vietnam with regard to intention to use mobile banking services. While the effects of social responsibility and environmental responsibility on trust, trust on perceived usefulness, perceived risk on intention to use, perceived usefulness on intention to use were significant in the context of Vietnam but those effects were not significant in South Korea. Therefore, this study has attempted to fill this gap by empirically examining some of the important factors influencing the adoption of m-banking from the Vietnamese and Korean customers' perspectives. Finally, practical and theoretical implications for both banks and researchers in the m- banking context are also discussed in the concluding section.
