The Visual Effect in Combination of Details on Tailored Suits - In Case of Middle Aged Women - (테일러드 수트의 형태구성요인의 조합에 따른 시각효과 - 중년 여성의 경우 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the combination of tailored suit details through visual evaluation which helps compensating middle aged women's body defects for their more attractive fashion styles. The data evaluated by a multiple ranking test were analyzed using mean, paired t-test, general linear measure and Duncan's multiple raged test. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The middle aged woman wearing the opened flap pocket-jacket and slacks looks longer(p〈0.001) in lower part of her body and taller(P〈0.01) as a whole than when wearing others. And, opened jacket makes a middle aged woman be seen with less appeared abdomen(p〈0.01) than that wearing others. 2) The middle aged woman wearing the opened flap pocket-jacket and skirt looks more elegant(p〈0.001), more graceful(p〈0.001), and a bit more balanced(p〈0.05) than that wearing the opened flap pocket-jacket and slacks suits. According to situation(TPO). the middle aged women wearing the opened flap pocket-jacket, and slacks or skirt looks more effective the visual effect in combination of details on Tailored suits. Patterns of Tailored Suit and Formal Jackets for Children (아동 정장 및 예복의 패턴제작에 관한 연구)

  • The need for children's formal wear is growing as parents take their children into formal occasions more often than before. Yet there are some problems to be solved in order to generalize about children's formal wear such as high price and the development of patterns for better fit and design. Mothers of boys were surveyed to find out the needs, complaints, and required improvements of boy's formal wear. Pattern designers of children's formal wear brands were interviewed to determine the size specifications, pattern drafting methods and design features of each brand. Based on these results, several pattern drafting methods were selected. Jackets and pants for 9-year-olds were made by each pattern drafting method using the us standard size. They were compared through wearing test to improve the fit. As a result, pattern drafting methods for children's tailored suits and two formal jackets were suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how the Post-modernism social cultural pattern has been reflected in collar of costume. In the classes social, collar in costume is the expressive medium of ideology and status symbol such as Passium of ancian Ezypt and Byzantin collar which is examined religion belif. The conspicuous function of collar can be examed as the ruff collar, which is the expressive medium of self-confidence, but the whisk collar and the flat collar means decline the authorized conspicous function. In the cultural pattern of Post-modernism, collar in costume presents the coexistence of double-sides value such as androgyny, dividinism and eclecticism. For example, the tailored collar or shirt collar in women's suit with delicate materials express the self-confidence, energy and intelligence, and the round collar or the draped collar in men's suit with rough material express the sensibility and liberty. In the deconstructivity through breaking the basis form of the collar, callar can be transformed in to sleeve, cape or hat on occasion. In conclusion, the function of collar changes by the cultural pattern and expresses the spirit.

Evaluation of Types of Female Workers' Uniforms - Appropriate, Functional, and/or Power Look - (사무직 여성을 위한 유니폼스타일 평가 -적절성, 기능성, 유능.권위성을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate types of uniforms which were considered as appropriate, functional, and/or power look. Also, the possibility of acceptance of a pantsuit for uniforms was examined. For the study, a questionnaire was developed by the researcher. The subjects were asked to select appropriate, function Al, or power look among combinations of: 1) two types of jackets with different shoulder width (natural, wide) and two types bottoms(pants, skirt) : 2) blouses with three different collars (ribbon, convertible, tailored) and two types of bottoms (pants, skirt) . The majority (89%) of subjects were 185 male and 182 female white-collar workers. For the ststistical analysis, Chi-square, one-way ANOVA, and t-test were used. The results of the study were: 1) For a uniform, a skirted suit was considered as being appropriate and powerful, and pants were regarded as being functional. 2) A jacket with natural shoulders was viewed as an appropriate and functional uniform, and a jacket with wide shoulders as power look. 3) A blouse with a convertible collar was regarded as an appropriate and functioal uniform, and a tailored collared-blouse evaluated as power look.

  • The purpose of this study was primarily aimed at the revealing changes in the aspects of women's clothing derivationed with the women's self-consciousness, liberation movement, women's suffrage and social participation from the mid-l9th century to the mid-20th century. According to the study, the main change of western women's costumes were eradication of corset, emergence of troussers and tailored suit, and transformation of sportwear. So that, women's liberation movement has an deep effect on leading up to a change tendency the functionalization and masculinization of women's costume.

  • GPIB-based measurement applications are common in every field of multi-instrument environment. Also personal computers and workstations play a key role in measurement ability to create cost-effective instrument control solutions. For simple data acquisition systems which are automated by GPIB interface, standard GPIB controllers add a little burden to the budget for DAQ. In this paper, we provide software and hardware construction methods for cost-effective custom-made GPIB controller boards both for controllers and instruments. This way of tailored configuration to suit a particular application of GPIB-based instrument control solution pays dividends in cost and flexibility for data processing management.

The Study of Chanel in Coutume Jewelry (샤넬의 커스튬 주어리에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Chanel design and her Costume jewelry in 1920's-1930's through documentary studies. According to the study the result was as follows: 1. Chanel's esthetic in the field of Fashion Design bore the double stamp of "elegance" and 'simplicity' 2. Chanel changed the concept of costume jewelry. Chanel's great innovation was that she let 'fake' jewels always keep the intrinsic value of 'real' ones. 3. The simplicity of her perfectly tailored suit was Paradoxically overwhelmed by a fan-tastic array of jewels. The relationhship be-tween Chanel design and her costume jewelry was not able to be seperated. Chanel was a fashion leader fifty years ago and the name "Chanel" will be at the forefornt of fashon fifty years from now. The image of quality will always remain the same in the futures.

  • The purpose of this study were to identify the design elements and the changing flow of advertisement from 1970's to 1990's by using content analysis of men's magazines. Finding were as followed; First through the analysis of men's wear advertisement in magazine it was found that the closer to 1990's the more various men's wear styles and backgrounds were advertized. These were more image oriented than product oriented. Since 1980 the advertisement about the licenced and the imported brands have been increased and the serial advertisement has shown more fre-quently than the 1-page advertisement since 1990's ; Second two piece suit was dominated in men's wear during 1970's and 1980's From 1990's this style was decresed in stead combi suit was increased. In 1970's the X silhouette was infashion and the y and the X silhouette was in fashion and the y and X sillhouette were increased during 1980's . The H silhouette was dominated in 1990's The brighter and the more various colors appeared in 1990's than in 1970's. The brighter and the more various colors appeared in 1990's than in 1970's The solid pattern was the main flow in men's wear however the stripes and the the check patterns were added in 1990's Third single breasted jacket style with two buttons and tailored collar was in fashion during 1970's . The length of the v-zone was shorter than half at this time however it was lengthened in 1980's . Also the the length of the jacket was lengthened. In 1990's the double breasted jacket style and two buttons were increased. The length of the v-zone and jacket were also lengthened.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the esthetic features of femme fatale character fashions, which are shown in Movie . The feature of evil femineity is the attribute of evil which brings men to ruin by the dangerous, cunning, and cruel trick, and is expressed in black color, red color, and slash fashion. This fashion shows the dark reverse side of women's sexual desire in relation to anxiety, evil, and death. The feature of sensuality evokes physical pleasures or desires, and maximizes the exposure of sexual regions by tightening or loosening women's body. In the fashion expressing this feature, the forms are fit or loose silhouette. and the colors are black and red. and the materials are soft. This fashion seems to deconstruct the past concept of sex consciousness and emphasize the independent and autonomous femineity. The feature of positiveness combines feminine elements with masculine elements in relation to power elements. This feature is expressed in tailored suit and trousers, with few patterns and details, and in black color and gray color. This fashion reflects the aggressive, challenging, and independent femineity, and expresses the potential defense for the weakness and danger of female body. The feature of purity expresses the earnest and truthful mind, and is expressed in the soft and light one-piece dress, the elegant suit, and the pink color and black color fashion. This fashion shows angel-like and reliable womanly beauty, but at the same time shows women's attribute which changes their behavior and thinking every moment, so that this fashion shows women's double-sided attribute which combines women's weakness and violence, or tenacity and conflict.

A Study on the Movie Costume of the 「Bonnie and Clyde」 (영화 「우리에게 내일은 없다」의 의상분석)

  • This study attempted to summarize the characteristics of fashion in the 1930s which were the background of 'Bonnie and Clyde' and analyze how fashion in the 1930s was expressed through costume in the movie, focusing on some critical scenes. For this, previous studies and domestic & foreign books, magazines and DVDs relating to movie costume were examined. For analysis of movie costume, 'Bonnie and Clyde (1967)' DVD was referred to. In the movie, meaningful scenes were captured using a GOM Player. Then, the study results found the followings: First, in terms of women's fashion in the 1930s, adult look and slim & long silhouette which naturally revealed breast, waist and hip with a long skirt, a military look with strong shoulders and tailored costume were found. In terms of men's fashion, in contrast, the Duke of Windsor Style (a slim silhouette jacket and loose pants) was popular. Second, in the movie, Bonnie's costume started with a slim linen H-line dress at her first meeting with Clyde. While committing crimes and becoming a famous gangster, she displayed the fashion styles which were in vogue in the 1930s such as fancy and luxurious slim dress, tailored suit and trench coat. Third, in terms of Clyde's costume, from his first meeting with Bonnie to his first crime, he put on common costume (ex: pants, vest, shirts, etc.) which revealed his open and unconventional character. After he became a famous gangster, he would wear the Duke of Windsor style (jacket, vest and pants). The study results well describe movie costume's role as visual language which expresses characters' inner circumstances and outer situations that reflect socio-cultural background.
