This paper presents the details of size independent fracture energy and bi-linear tension softening relation for nano modified high strength concrete. Nano silica in powder form has been used as partial replacement of cement by 2 wt%. Two popular methods, namely, simplified boundary effect method of Karihaloo et al. (2003) and RILEM (1985) fracture energy with P-${\delta}$ tail correction have been employed for estimation of size independent fracture energy for nano modified high strength concrete (compressive strength ranges from 55 MPa to 72 MPa). It is found that both the methods gave nearly same values, which is an additional evidence that either of them can be employed for determination of size independent fracture energy. Bi-linear tension softening relation corresponding to their size independent fracture energy has been constructed in an inverse manner based on the concept of non-linear hinge from the load-crack mouth opening plots of notched three-point bend beams.

Absorption and luminescence characteristics of disperse red-19 (DR-19) and $TiO_2$ composite have been investigated with various poling electric field strengths. Two step synthetic processes were employed to employ the DR-19 to the $TiO_2$ sol-gel. Firstly, urethane bond formation between DR-19 (-OH) and 3-isocyanatopropyl triethoxysilane (ICPTES, -N=C=O) performed (ICPDR) prior incorporation to the $TiO_2$ sol-gel. Secondary, the hydrolysis of the ethoxy group from the ICPTES and condensation reaction between silanol groups from ICPTES and $TiO_2$ sol-gel were performed. The ICPDR and $TiO_2$ sol-gel ($DRTiO_2$) were mixed and stirred for several days. The composite was coated to the ITO coated glass substrate. Corona poling were performed before drying the composite with various electric field strengths. The absorption intensity decreased with the increase of the poling field strength, which resulted in the increase of poling efficiency. The photoluminescence also decreased as the poling field strength increased. There is long luminescence tail for the poled $DRTiO_2$ film compared with unpoled $DRTiO_2$ film. The luminescence long tail indicates that the self-trapped excitons and polarons were generated when the $DRTiO_2$ film was poled with electric field.

The distribution characteristics of data retention time for DRAM was studied in connection with the probability distribution of the cell parameters. Using the cell parameters and the transient characteristics of cell node voltage, data retention time was investigated. The activation energy for dielectric layer growth on cell capacitance, the recombination trap energy for leakage current in the junction depletion region, and the sensitivity characteristics of sense amplifier were used as the random variables to perform the Monte Carlo simulation, and the probability distributions of cell parameters and distribution characteristics of cumulative failure bit on data retention time in DRAM cells were calculated. we found that the sensitivity characteristics of sense amplifier strongly affected on the tail bit distribution of data retention time.

In the presence of synchrotron losses, diffusion of an ensembel of relativistic particles in an intraculster medium is investigated. The diffusion coefficient in the medium is found to be constrained by $28.8\;{\pm}\;0.4\;{\leq}\;Log\;D\;{\leq}\;30.5\;{\pm}\;0.4\;cm^2s^{-1}$ with the energy dependency of $D_0{\varepsilon}^{\mu}$ of ${\mu}=0.4{\pm}0.2$ as the previous observations suggested. As an important implication of the result, the brightest head-tail radio source NGC 4869, whose radio tail structure is indicative for its orbit within the cluster core, is considered to be the major contributor of particles for the formation of the Coma radio halo.

An underwater glider is a type of autonomous unmanned vehicle and it advances using a vertical zig-zag glide. For this purpose, the position of an internal battery is regulated to control its attitude, and the amount of water in a buoyancy bag is regulated to control the depth. Underwater glider is suitable for a long-distance mission for a long time, because the required energy is much smaller than the conventional autonomous unmanned vehicle using propeller propulsion system. In this paper, control of horizontal tail wing is newly added to the conventional battery position and buoyancy control. The performance of the proposed controller is shown through Matlab simulation.
The alkaline single-cell gel electrophoresis (SCGE) assay, called the comet assay, has been applied to detect DNA damage induced by a number of chemicals and biological factors in vivo and in vitro. The DNA damage was analysed by tail moment (TM) and tail length (TL), which were markers of DNA strand breaks in SCGE. Human, mouse and rat peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) were irradiated with different doses of $^{60}Co$${\gamma}$-rays, e.g. 1, 2, 4, and 8 Gy at a dose rate of 1 Gy/min. A dose-dependent increase in TM (p<0.01) and TL (p<0.01) was obtained at all the radiation doses (1-8 Gy) in human, mouse and rat PBLs. Mouse PBLs were more sensitive than human PBLs which were in turn more sensitive than rat PBLs when the treated dosages were 1 and 2 Gy. However, human PBLs were more sensitive than mouse PBLs which were in turn more sensitive than rat PBLs when the irradiation dosages were 4 and 8 Gy. Data from all three species could be fitted to a linear-quadratic model. These results indicated that there may be inherent differences in the radio-sensitivity among PBLs of mammalian species.
We solve the momentum resolved d-wave Eliashberg equation employing the magnetic excitation spectrum from the inelastic neutron scattering on the LSCO superconductors reported by Vignolle et al. The magnetic excitation spectrum exhibits 2 peaks: a sharp incommensurate peak at 18 meV at momentum (${\pi}$, ${\pi}{\pm}{\delta}$) and (${\pi}{\pm}{\delta}$, ${\pi}$) and another broad peak near 40~70 meV at momentum (${\pi}$, ${\pi}$). Above 70 meV, the magnetic excitation spectrum has a long tail that is shaped into a circle centered at (${\pi}$, ${\pi}$) with ${\delta}$. The sign of the real part of the self-energy is determined by the momentum position of the peaks of the magnetic excitation spectrum and bare dispersion. We will discuss the effects of the each component of the magnetic excitation spectrum on the self-energy, the pairing self-energy.
We used the GEANT4 Monte Carlo MC Toolkit to simulate carbon ion beams incident on water, tissue, and bone, taking into account nuclear fragmentation reactions. Upon increasing the energy of the primary beam, the position of the Bragg-Peak transfers to a location deeper inside the phantom. For different materials, the peak is located at a shallower depth along the beam direction and becomes sharper with increasing electron density NZ. Subsequently, the generated depth dose of the Bragg curve is then benchmarked with experimental data from GSI in Germany. The results exhibit a reasonable correlation with GSI experimental data with an accuracy of between 0.02 and 0.08 cm, thus establishing the basis to adopt MC in heavy-ion treatment planning. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov K-S test further ascertained from a statistical point of view that the simulation data matched the experimentally measured data very well. The two-dimensional isodose contours at the entrance were compared to those around the peak position and in the tail region beyond the peak, showing that bone produces more dose, in comparison to both water and tissue, due to secondary doses. In the water, the results show that the maximum energy deposited per fragment is mainly attributed to secondary carbon ions, followed by secondary boron and beryllium. Furthermore, the number of protons produced is the highest, thus making the maximum contribution to the total dose deposition in the tail region. Finally, the associated spectra of neutrons and photons were analyzed. The mean neutron energy value was found to be 16.29 MeV, and 1.03 MeV for the secondary gamma. However, the neutron dose was found to be negligible as compared to the total dose due to their longer range.
When the preparation method of iron silicide films possess the annealing process, the interfacial state of the films is not fine. The good quality films were obtained as the plasma was used without annealing processing. Since the injected precursors were various active species in the plasma state, the organic compound was contained in the prepared films. We confirmed the formation of Fe-Si bonds as well as the organic compound by Fe and Si vibration mode in Raman scattering spectrum at $250cm^{-1}$ and Ft-IR. Because of epitaxy growth being progressed by the high energy of plasma at the low temperature of substrate, iron silicide was epitaxially grown to ${\beta}$-phase that had lattice structure such as [220]/[202] and [115]. Band gap of the prepared films had value of 1.182~1.174 eV and optical gap energy was shown value of 3.4~3.7 eV. The Urbach tail and the sub-band-gap absorptions were appeared by organic compound in films. We knew that the prepared films by plasma were obtained a good quality films because of being grown single crystal.
