  • This paper presents a dynamic modeling and a robust PID controller design process for the wire bonder head assembly. For the modeling elements, the system is divided into electrical system, magnetic system, and mechanical system. Each system is modeled by using the bond graph method. The PID controller is used for high speed/high accuracy position control of the wire bonder assembly. The Taguchi method is used to evaluate the more robust PID gain combinations than conventional one. This study makes use of an L18 array with three parameters varied on three levels. Computer simulations and experimental results show that the designed PID controller provides more improved signal to noise ratio and reduced sensitivity than the conventional PID controller.

  • 로버스트설계는 품질공학에서 품질특성치의 수행변동(performance variation)을 줄이는데 있다. 다구찌가 제안한 파라미터설계는 아주 많은 장점을 가지고 있으나 몇 가지 단점이 있다. 그 중에서 파라미터설계에 있어서 교차배열은 제어인자와 잡음인자의 모든 교호작용효과를 고려한 실험배치이기 때문에 많은 실험횟수를 필요로 하는 단점이 있다. 그래서 대안방법으로 Welch등(1990)이 제안한 통합배열이 고려된다. 본 논문에서는 로버스트 설계를 위한 다구찌의 파라미터설계(혹은 교차배열방법론)와 통합배열방법론을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 비교 연구하고자 한다.

다구찌 방법을 사용한 구조물의 손상 평가 (Damage Assessment of Structures Using Taguchi Method)

  • A robust damage assessment technique is presented such that the location and severity of damage in structures can be identified using measured modal data. In order to identify the damage efficiently, the concept of design of experiment using orthogonal array is used for screening the main effects of each parameter which corresponds to possible damage location in FE model. Then, Taguchi method, which has been widely used for robust design in industry, is applied to parameter updating in analytical FE model. The numerical simulations of a truss structure show that damages in structure can be located from updated parameters.

  • In the manufacture and processing of large plastic materials, product quality is tested and verified through several techniques such as injection processing, residual stress through injection molding and shrinkage. With regards to the injection molding process, common problems such as inconsistent density is seen when different points of the product are discovered to have varying thickness levels. Sink marks in product are then evident. This occurs when there is poor molding conditions caused about by poor runner and packaging systems incorporated into the process. We designed the runner system which is possible balanced filling to cavities using CAE program $Moldflow^{TM}$ and then obtained optimal processing conditions by Taguchi's Robust Design technique.

  • Each method for economic evaluation has its own characteristics. Therefore adoption of each of them in evaluation production investment project results in many problems. Hence combination & modification of them are required to perform more accurate evaluation about investment project. This paper discuss evaluation method of investment projects expansion and replacement investment on each line or individual in the production. Generally investment evaluation method has add to a few method by Subsidiary means with use a especial method. And then in this paper, a Taguchi Techniques is presented, which may be effective to the facilities appraisal or improvement. We propose a decision model to incorporates the values assigned by a group of experts on different factors in production. Using this model, SN ratio of taguchi method for each of subjective factors as well as values of weights are used in this comprehensive method for reducing production rate in production management.

  • 다구찌 방법의 핵심인 피라미터 설계의 원리는 제품의 성능특성이 잡음에 둔감하도록 제품이나 공정을 설계하자는 것이다. 다구찌는 이 피라미터 설계를 위해 소위 직교배열이라는 실험계획의 사용을 추천하고 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 이와 같은 다구찌 직교배열의 구성원리를 밝힘으로써 앞으로 보다 적절한 활용과 개선을 위한 자료를 마련하는데 있다.

  • It has many variables and factors to design the friction materials for automotive brake pads. The purpose of this study is to develop the proper method for design of low-cost and to know friction characteristics of each raw materials. For the purpose of examining the effect of each major raw materials, we used the Taguchi L9(3$^4$)orthogonal matrix and 1/5 scale dynamo machine for evaluation of the friction characteristics of composite brake pads. By adapting the Taguchi method, it is easy to investigate the influence of each component in complicated composites friction materials. After analyzing the testing results by the Taguchi method, the effect of factors and levels influenced friction behavior was studied.

  • Semi-solid casting(SSC) of magnesium alloys is increasingly being used to produce high quality components. This process is similar to the injection molding of plastics and is called thixomolding. Using this process, higher strength, thinner wall sections and tighter tolerances without porosity are obtained. The high strength and low weight characteristics of magnesium alloys render the high-precision fabrication of thin-walled components with large surface areas. They are widely used for the IT, auto and consumer electronics industries. However, warpage of the thin-walled sections degrade quality of the parts produced in the SCC process. To produce thin-walled magnesium alloy parts, the geometry of gating system on the quality of the finished products should be clearly studied. In this paper, to minimize warpage of the thin-walled sections, Taguchi method is applied to the optimal design of the gate geometry in the thixomolding process. Width, height, length and angle of the gating system are selected for the robust design parameters. Effectiveness of the robust design is verified through the CAE software.

동특성 파라미터설계를 위한 SN비의 결정 및 분석 (Determination and Analysis of Signal-to-Noise Ratios for Parameter Design with Dynamic Characteristics)

  • Taguchi's parameter design is a method for quality improvement by making the performance fo a system robust to noise. Parameter design with dynamic characteristics has been recently the subject of much interest. This paper is concerned with a review and a generalization of the Signal-to-Noise (SN) ratio, a quality measure for parameter design with dynamic characteristics, proposed by Taguchi. We present a method for determination and analysis of the generalized SN ratio and illustrate its implementation by example.

다구찌 방법을 이용한 신발 아웃솔 펠레타이징 기계 절단부의 강건설계 (Taguchi-based robust design for the footwear outsole pelletizing machine cutter)

  • Purpose: This study attempts to find out the optimum condition of the rotary cutter making pellet in the footwear outsole process. The pellets are used in the process of outsole rubber fabrication to reduce cycle time and save raw material. Methods: Computer simulations are used to analyze the maximum stress in the rotary cutter after designing a variety of cutter shapes. Taguchi method is used to identify the robust condition of the cutter. In $L_{18}$ orthogonal array, the control factors such as knife width, twisted angle, number of knives, diameter, knife depth and supported angle are considered and noise factors like assembly tolerance and amount of antifriction are allocated. Results: It is found that the most important factors to reduce maximum stress in the cutter are supported angle and diameter. Using Tacuchi's results, we can reduce 70% cycle time and 9% raw material compared to the traditional method using cutting die. Conclusion: When designing the rotary cutter, the best conditions are the diameter at its maximum allowable value and supported angle in the boundary of machine inner space.
