무선 IP 네트워크에서 전용선 모뎀 사용가능성 검증 (The Investigation of the Leased Line Modem Usability in the Wireless Internet Protocol Network)

  • A leased line modem usability was evaluated and investigated in the wireless internet protocol(IP) network. The signal of the modem in the circuit switching network was translated to IP packet by using several voice codecs (PCM, G.711A, $G.711{\mu}$, and etc.) and transmitted through the wireless IP network. The wireless IP network was simulated by the Tactical information and communication network Modeling and simulation Software(TMS). The performance and usability of the leased line modem are simulated using the system-in-the-loop(SITL) function of TMS with respect to packet delay, jitter, packet discard ratio, codecs, and wireless link BER.

통합 필터 변별도와 그래프 컬러링을 이용한 전술통신망 백본 무선 링크의 주파수 지정 방법 (Frequency Assignment Method using NFD and Graph Coloring for Backbone Wireless Links of Tactical Communications Network)

  • The tactical communications network has to be deployed rapidly at military operation area and support the communications between the military command systems and the weapon systems. For that, the frequency assignment is required for backbone wireless links of tactical communications network without frequency interferences. In this paper, we propose a frequency assignment method using net filter discrimination (NFD) and graph coloring to avoid frequency interferences. The proposed method presents frequency assignment problem of tactical communications network as vertex graph coloring problem of a weighted graph. And it makes frequency assignment sequences and assigns center frequencies to communication links according to the priority of communication links and graph coloring. The evaluation shows that this method can assign center frequencies to backbone communication links without frequency interferences. It also shows that the method can improve the frequency utilization in comparison with HTZ-warfare that is currently used by Korean Army.

  • Tracking the tactical object is a fundamental affair in network-equipped modern warfare. Geodetic coordinate system based on longitude, latitude, and height is suitable to represent the location of tactical objects considering multi platform data fusion. The motion of tactical object described as a dynamic model requires an appropriate filtering to overcome the system and measurement noise in acquiring information from multiple sensors. This paper introduces the filter suitable for multi-sensor data fusion and tactical object tracking, particularly the unscented transform(UT) and its detail. The UT in Unscented Kalman Filter(UKF) uses a few samples to estimate nonlinear-propagated statistic parameters, and UT has better performance and complexity than the conventional linearization method. We show the effects of UT-based filtering via simulation considering practical tactical object tracking scenario.

전술 모바일 애드혹 네트워크에서 무인기를 이용하는 이동 예측 기반의 데이터 링크 연결 유지 알고리즘 (Mobility Prediction Based Autonomous Data Link Connectivity Maintenance Using Unmanned Vehicles in a Tactical Mobile Ad-Hoc Network)

  • 자가구성 능력을 가진 전술모바일애드혹 네트워크는 기간망을 사용할 수 없는 전술환경에서 단위전술부대와 중앙지휘소와의 통신연결을 제공하기 위해 사용된다. 하지만, 작전 전술부대가 임무수행을 위해 중앙지휘소로부터 장거리 위치로 이동하거나 지형적 장애물이 있는 경우에는 통신단말간 데이터링크가 단절되어 전술부대로부터 지휘소까지의 데이터 경로가 유효하지 않을 수 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 ADLCoM(Autonomous Data Link Connectivity Maintenance) 구조를 제안한다. ALDCoM하에서 각 전술그룹단위는 하나이상의 GW 노드 (게이트웨이)를 갖으며 GW 노드들은 전술부대 및 지휘소 간의 데이터 링크상태를 지속적으로 확인한다. 만약 데이터링크가 단절될 가능성이 높다면 하나이상의 육상 또는 공중 무인기를 데이터링크를 위한 릴레이로서 동작하도록 요청하여 전술 부대 및 지휘소간, 또는 전술 부대간의 데이터링크의 연결을 지속적으로 유효하게 유지 시킨다. 전술환경을 모의한 시뮬레이션을 통하여 ADLCoM구조가 전술모바일애드혹망의 성능을 현저히 높일 수 있음을 보인다.

Performance Comparison between WiMAX and WLAN and Construction of Tactical/Strategic Communication Network Using OPNET

  • As part of overseas defense program of the US's Trump administration, the military allies were asked to cover partial operation costs for the weaponry deployed at the US bases in their countries. This raised the Korean government's, as well as defense industry's interest in constructing a tactical/strategic communication network and investments are being made actively. Thus, in this study, the performances of WiMAX and WLAN have been compared and a tactical/strategic communication network has been constructed for simulation by using OPNET. As a result, the simulation for the network using combat tanks was successful. An average communication distance that can be achieved by WLAN in open terrain is about 200m as it has been designed on the premise of short-range wireless communications. When the distance was increased to 1km, the tanks could not receive data. By contrast, it was able to confirm that the WiMAX-based network has allowed smooth communications at the same distance. Based on this result, it can be concluded that using WiMAX for tactical operations will have much more merit than adopting WLAN as far as the distance is concerned.

  • The Military Tactical Communication technology for effective network-centric warfare is developing. Targeting broadband wireless transmission, core technology for connection, and Transmission technology that secure survivability under High-speed Movement environment. On the one hand, Tactical data communication system that reflects military characteristic is developing on the base of Legacy communication equipment which is used in the field. Because almost every military units in the field have used voice to communicate which lower efficiency of operation, they have made effort to Substitute voice communication which delays military Operation Tempo to digital communication. The Communications environment of troops in Forward edge of battle field area is very poor. Especially in terms of limited frequency allocation and bandwidth. Therefore, improving the efficiency of frequency is essential for Military Tactical Communication. This paper is about The Data Compression Method for increase of Efficiency in Tactical Data Communication over Legacy Radios which are UHF, VHF, HF Radio. I proposed and proved the most efficient Data Compression Method that reflects military characteristic, after analyzing the experimentation, which simulate CAS(Close Air Support mission) data transmission between Pilot and TACP.

CLSR: Cognitive Link State Routing for CR-based Tactical Ad Hoc Networks

  • The Cognitive Radio (CR) paradigm in tactical ad hoc networks is an important element of future military communications for network-centric warfare. This paper presents a novel Cognitive Link State Routing protocol for CR-based tactical ad hoc networks. The proposed scheme provides prompt and reliable routes for Primary User (PU) activity through procedures that incorporate two main functions: PU-aware power adaptation and channel switching. For the PU-aware power adaptation, closer multipoint relay nodes are selected to prevent network partition and ensure successful PU communication. The PU-aware channel switching is proactively conducted using control messages to switch to a new available channel based on a common channel list. Our simulation study based on the ns-3 simulator demonstrates that the proposed routing scheme delivers significantly improved performance in terms of average end-to-end delay, jitter, and packet delivery ratio.

전술통신망에서 능동적 라우팅을 위한 OSPF에 대한 연구 (A Study on OSPF for Active Routing in Wireless Tactical Communication Network)

  • OSPF(Open Shortest Path First)는 유선 통신망에서 주로 사용되는 라우팅 프로토콜로 유선 링크의 상태를 코스트로 환산하여 트래픽의 경로를 결정하는 알고리즘이며, 차세대 전술 통신망의 라우팅 프로토콜로 고려되고 있다. 그러나 기존의 OSPF는 유선망 환경을 고려하여 설계된 프로토콜이므로 노이즈, 재밍 등의 무선 전술 환경에 능동적으로 반응하지 못하는 취약점이 있다. 즉, 데이터 전달 과정에서 링크의 성능이 저하되어도 경로를 그대로 유지하여 통신의 효율성과 신뢰성을 보장하지 못한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 OSPF 비용함수를 재정의 하여 무선 전술 환경에서 네트워킹 시 효율성과 신뢰성을 높이는 것을 목표로 한다. 재정의하는 비용함수에는 네 가지 파라미터로 상대적인 전송 속도, 링크 가중치, 라우터의 이용률, 링크 평균 BER(Bit Error Rate)이 포함된다. 이 파라미터를 통하여 무선 전술환경의 특성을 반영할 수 있다. 또한, OSPF의 Hello 패킷을 개선함으로 각 기반노드의 무선 링크상태를 주기적으로 파악 할 수 있도록 하였다. 실험 결과를 통해 제안하는 OSPF가 기존의 OSPF보다 능동적으로 경로를 변경하고 네트워크를 부하를 줄여 향상된 성능을 보임을 확인하였다.

무선 전술 데이터 네트워크에서 소형 무안항공기를 이용한 연결성 약화 지역 탐색 기법 (A Searching Technique of the Weak Connectivity Boundary using Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle in Wireless Tactical Data Networks)

  • 최근에 전술 무기의 첨단화, 무인화 및 네트워크화에 따라서 무선 전술 데이터 네트워크의 생존성은 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 무선 전술 데이터 네트워크에서 저고도 소형 무인항공기를 이용한 네트워크의 연결성 약화지역을 탐색하는 기법을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서는 간단한 polling 접속 기능을 갖는 소형 무인항공기를 사용하여 무선 전술 데이터 네트워크의 노드들과 접속을 통하여 네트워크의 형태를 파악하고, 파악된 네트워크 그래프를 라플라스 매트릭스로 변환한다. 변환된 라플라스 매트릭스의 eigenvalue를 찾아내는 방법에 기초하여 서브 네트워크를 정의하고 약화된 eigenvalue의 집합을 통하여 네트워크의 연결성 약화지역을 탐색하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 하나의 UAV를 사용한 경우 좁은 네트워크 및 광범위 네트워크의 연결성 약화지역을 제안 알고리즘을 사용하여 탐색 가능하였다. 제안된 알고리즘으로 탐색된 약화지역의 노드에 UAV 링크로 중계 기능을 한 경우, 성형 네트워크 및 MST(Minimum Spanning Tree) 알고리즘에 의한 네트워크와 비교하여 스루풋 성능이 우수함을 검증하였다. 본 기법은 무선 전술 네트워크의 연결성을 보장하는 기법에 적용 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

레거시 라디오 기반의 UMPC 전술 데이터 링크 Push 프레임워크 (The Push Framework for UMPC Tactical Data Link(TDL) Based on The Legacy Radio)

  • Recently, there is on-going research about tactical data link system based on the legacy radio. Tactical data link based on legacy radio is operated mostly in narrow bandwidth under 25khz. Communicating traffics in nodes participated at network need to be minimized for distributing tactical data in narrow bandwidth. In addition, the data distributing structure is necessary for distributing tactical informations such as a situation awareness and so on to war fighters. However, conventional server-client system wastes a lot of time to obtain information for war fighters as user uses pull system to gather necessary information by seeking it one by one. Especially, the fighter pilot is supposed to dedicate into a situation awareness and fight mission in every seconds but seeking information of a user terminal while aircraft maneuvering affects as obstacle to concentrate engaging hostiles. therefore, push technology, the tactical data distributing system, is necessary for war fighters to receive fixed tactical data automatically without putting attention to it. This paper propose the UMPC tactical data link push framework. the UMPC tactical data link is a tactical data link system based on the legacy radio. Proposed push framework is verified by composing experiment environment and testing.
