  • In this article, we propose the weighted LAD (least absolute deviations) estimators for multi-dimensional contingency tables and drive an estimation method to estimate the proposed estimators. To illustrate the robustness of the estimators, simulation results are presented for several models Including log-linear models and models for ordinal variables in multidimensional contingency tables. Examples were also introduced.

  • We propose five Bayesian methods to estimate the cell expectation in an incomplete multi-way categorical table with nonignorable nonresponse mechanism. We study 3 Bayesian methods which were previously applied to one-way categorical tables. We extend them to multi-way tables and, in addition, develop 2 new Bayesian methods for multi-way categorical tables. These five methods are distinguished by different priors on the cell probabilities: two of them have the priors determined only by information of respondents; one has a constant prior; and the remaining two have priors reflecting the difference in the response mechanisms between respondent and non-respondent. We also compare the five Bayesian methods using a categorical data for a prospective study of pregnant women.

  • Monte Carlo methods have been used in exact inference for contingency tables for a long time; however, they suffer from ergodicity and the ability to achieve a desired proportion of valid tables. In this paper, we apply the stochastic approximation Monte Carlo(SAMC; Liang et al., 2007) algorithm, as an adaptive Markov chain Monte Carlo, to the exact test of mutual independence in a multiway contingency table. The performance of SAMC has been investigated on real datasets compared to with existing Markov chain Monte Carlo methods. The numerical results are in favor of the new method in terms of the quality of estimates.

  • A method of DID generating step is suggested for applying the XML technology to the information data extracted from the Legacy databases. The IDREF-ID attribute reference modeling is used for representing the complex relationship between tables and excluding the prearranged step of ID insertion. ID Insertion procedure is performed in parallel with investigating the relationship between the tables and the frequent search direction between the table data. As a result, ID insertion procedure can be performed simultaneously with understanding of the IDREF-ID relationship between tables, and DID are also generated.

  • For square contingency tables with ordered categories, Tomizawa (1995) considered two kinds of measures to represent the degree of departure from global symmetry, which means that the probability that an observation will fall in one of cells in the upper-right triangle of square table is equal to the probability that the observation falls in one of cells in the lower-left triangle of it. This paper proposes a generalization of those measures. The proposed measure is expressed by using Cressie and Read's (1984) power divergence or Patil and Taillie's (1982) diversity index. Special cases of the proposed measure include TomiBawa's measures. The proposed measure would be useful for comparing the degree of departure from global symmetry in several tables.

  • An efficient logic circuit for realizing the function which has output of 1 diagonaly and design for multivalued logic circuit using with ROM structure which has two output at once are presented. The circuits presented are suited for the circuit design of a symmetric multivalued truth tables and the circuit design of multivalued truth tables with many independent variables. Also, they are applied to the multivalued truth tables of Galois field(GF).

  • Many surveys provide categorical data and there may be one or more missing categories. We describe a nonignorable nonresponse model for the analysis of two-way contingency tables from small areas. There are both item and unit nonresponse. One approach to analyze these data is to construct several tables corresponding to missing categories. We describe a hierarchical Bayesian model to analyze two-way categorical data from different areas. This allows a "borrowing of strength" of the data from larger areas to improve the reliability in the estimates of the model parameters corresponding to the small areas. Also we use a nonignorable nonresponse model with Bayesian uncertainty analysis by placing priors in nonidentifiable parameters instead of a sensitivity analysis for nonidentifiable parameters. We use the griddy Gibbs sampler to fit our models and compute DIC and BPP for model diagnostics. We illustrate our method using data from NHANES III data on thirteen states to obtain the finite population proportions.

  • This paper presents a method to calculate a sag cumulative table and density table based on the area of vulnerability to voltage sags. The expected sag performance at sensitive load points can be easily assessed through the calculation of the sag cumulative table and density table. However, the calculation of the tables regarding large power systems is very difficult task. Therefore, an efficient method for calculating the tables is needed. In this paper, the improved method to determine the areas of vulnerability is addressed and the method to calculate the tables based on the area of vulnerability is also described. The proposed scheme can be efficiently used to assess the voltage sag performance at sensitive load points in large power systems.

  • In this study, titles, abstracts, and tables of content were evaluated and compared. The evaluation of the representativeness of surrogates and the evaluation through retrieval experiments were carried out in this study. Through the two experiments it was proved that titles are the best surrogate to condense information but they can't contain sufficient information because of the degree of condensation. Abstracts and tables of content are more effective than titles, while tables of content are the most effective.

  • This paper introduces a computerized version of the Korean Standard Pronunciation Rules that can be used in speech engineering systems such as Korean speech synthesis and recognition systems. For this purpose, we build Petri net models for each item of the Standard Pronunciation Rules, and then integrate them into the sound conversion table. The reversion of the Korean Standard Pronunciation Rules regulates the way of matching sounds into grammatically correct written characters. This paper presents not only the sound conversion table but also the character conversion table obtained by reversely converting the sound conversion table. Malting use of these tables, we have implemented a Korean character into a sound system and a Korean sound into the character conversion system, and tested them with various data sets reflecting all the items of the Standard Pronunciation Rules to verify the soundness and completeness of our tables. The test results show that the tables improve the process speed in addition to the soundness and completeness.
