  • Stress intensity factors for a planar crack parallel to a bimaterial interface are considered. The formulation leads to a system of hypersingular integral equations whose unknowns are three modes of crack opening displacements. In the numerical analysis, the unknown displacement discontinuities are approximated by the products of the fundamental density functions and polynomials. The numerical results show that the present method yields smooth variations of stress intensity factors along the crack front accurately. The mixed mode stress intensity factors are indicated in tables and figures with varying the shape of crack, distance from the interface, and elastic constants. It is found that the maximum stress intensity factors normalized by root area are always insensitive to the crack aspect ratio. They are given in a form of formula useful for engineering applications.

  • The burrowing-cricket genus Velarifictorus Randell, 1964 is reviewed in Korea, comparing with morphologically resembled genus Lepidogryllus Otte and Alexander, 1983 for the first time. First, Velarifictorus aspersus borealis Gorochov, 1985 is confirmed from only restricted area of southern regions in Gyeongsangnam-do and Jeollanam-do. Second, Velarifictorus micado (Saussure, 1877) is confirmed from nearly all around the Korean peninsula including North Korea. Third, the previously not recorded Velarifictorus ornatus (Shiraki, 1911) is newly recognized from South Korea. Relating to the genus Velarifictorus, the resembled genus Lepidogryllus Otte and Alexander, 1983 and its species Lepidogryllus siamensis (Chopard, 1961) com. & stat. nov. is studied and compared with Velarifictorus members. A key, descriptions, tables, photographs, figures, oscillograms and spectrograms of calling sounds are provided to aid identification between the four similar species.

  • In this paper, we present a time-triggered mechanism for providing energy consumption profiles in the level of C functions. The similar mechanisms have already been introduced at the previous researches such as PowerScope and ePRO. Instead, we, in this paper, introduce our efforts to extend these researches to incorporate power domains and DVS(Dynamic Voltage Scaling), then to provide GUI-based tool as a plug-in to ESTO which is an IDE for Embedded S/W development based on Eclipse. From our experimental results, we could conclude that our approach worked and produced consistent energy consumption profiles on the DVS-applied program codes, and also displayed function level and time domain power consumption information with diverse presentation skills such as tables, phi-chart, bar-chart, 2-D graphs, consequently, is expected to provide more ease-to-use and productive IDE for lower power embedded S/W developers.

  • This paper describes an iterative method for orthogonal projections $AA^+$ and $A^+A$ of an arbitrary matrix A, where $A^+$ represents the Moore-Penrose inverse. Convergence analysis along with the first and second order error estimates of the method are investigated. Three numerical examples are worked out to show the efficacy of our work. The first example is on a full rank matrix, whereas the other two are on full rank and rank deficient randomly generated matrices. The results obtained by the method are compared with those obtained by another iterative method. The performance measures in terms of mean CPU time (MCT) and the error bounds for computing orthogonal projections are listed in tables. If $Z_k$, k = 0,1,2,... represents the k-th iterate obtained by our method then the sequence of the traces {trace($Z_k$)} is a monotonically increasing sequence converging to the rank of (A). Also, the sequence of traces {trace($I-Z_k$)} is a monotonically decreasing sequence converging to the nullity of $A^*$.

  • This paper presents control designs using neural networks (NN) for a XY positioning table. The proposed neurocontroller is composed of an outer PD tracking loop for stabilization of the fast flexible-mode dynamics and an NN inner loop used to compensate for the system nonlinearities. A tuning algorithm is given for the NN weights, so that the NN compensation scheme becomes adaptive, guaranteeing small tracking errors and bounded weight estimates. Formal nonlinear stability proofs are given to show that the tracking error is small. The proposed neuro-controller is implemented and tested on an IBM PC-based XY positioning table, and is applicable to many precision XY tables. The algorithm, simulation, and experimental results are described. The experimental results are shown to be superior to those of conventional control.

  • Every year, the last products from most important builders of high bandwidth digitizers are tested in our laboratory which is specialized in the design and the characterization of fast links used in large laser facility. The purpose of this article is to describe the series of tests conducted during the characterization of such digitizers. More particularly, it takes an interest in the metrology of instruments with more than 5 GHz of bandwidth. It presents the different methods used and the kind of conclusion that we can give after such study. Such metrology campaign which usually takes one month of work, allows us to observe the smallest details and characteristics that usually builders don't give in their tables specifications. After the campaign, a copy of our technical report is written and sends to the builder. This report can be used by the technical team to ameliorate the points we noted.

  • The nondimensional differential equations governing the buckling loads of tapered columns with both clamped ends and its boundary conditions are derived, in which the effects of shear deformations are included. These equations are solved numerically using a numerical integration technique and a bracketing method to obtain the buckling loads of columns. Four types of cross-sectional shape are considered in the numerical examples. The parametric studies of shear deformation effects on the buckling loads such as cross-sectional shape factor, shear coefficient, ratio of modulus of elasticity, slenderness ratio and section ratio are reported in tables and figures.

  • The odds ratio is used for assessing the disease-exposure association, because epidemiological data for case-control of cohort studies are often summarized into 2 ${\times}$ 2 tables. In this paper we define the odds ratio function(ORF) that extends odds ratio used on discrete survival event data to continuous survival time data and propose estimation procedures with censored data. The first one is a nonparametric estimator based on the Nelson-Aalen estimator of comulative hazard function, and the others are obtained using the concept of empirical odds ratio. Asymptotic properties such as consistency and weak convergence results are also provided. The ORF provides a simple interpretation and is comparable to survival function or comulative hazard function in comparing two groups. The mean square errors are investigated via Monte Carlo simulation. The result are finally illustrated using the Melanoma data.

  • A review of the royal banquet rituals which were excuted twice a day for consecutive three days for master were found to be progressed; 1st day for Queen Mother, 2nd day for King, 3rd day for Crown Prince very orderly. And performing dozens of dances and musics at each intervals of this procedure. The Sequence of rituals were summarized as follows. 1. Entering by order of low in rance. 2. Opening a ceremony. 3. Setting napkins, spoons and chopsticks and sumptuous table for master. 4. Offering flowers to master and then granting that flowers to subjects 5. Singing a open song. 6. Setting wine/side dishes for master and complimenting master's achievement/wellness. 7. Bowing politely three times and giving cheers. 8. Distributing wine/dishes to high ranked subjects. 9. Offering special dishes for master. 10. Distributing wine to low ranked subjects. 11. Singing a closing song. 12. Taking away tables. 13. Closing a banquet and leaving the hall.
