The Correlation between E-Selectin S128R Gene Polymorphism and Ischemic Stroke in Chinese Population : A Meta-Analysis

  • To perform a systematic review of the data collected from case-control studies conducted earlier to investigate the correlation between E-selectin S128R polymorphism and ischemic stroke (IS) risk among the Chinese population. The PubMed, Web of Science, Chinese biomedical literature database (CBM), Chinese databases China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanfangData knowledge service platform (Wanfang Data), and information resource integration service platform (VIP) Databases were searched to retrieve case-control studies on the correlation between E-selectin gene S128R polymorphism and IS from the inception of the database till June 2019. The literature was screened, data were extracted, the risk of bias was reviewed, and the studies included were assessed independently by two reviewers. Stata ver. 12.0 software (Stata Corp LLC, College Station, TX, USA) was used to perform the meta-analysis. A total of 2907 cases from eight case-control studies involving 1478 IS patients and 1429 controls were included in this study. The R allele and RS genotype in E-selectin were found to be associated with the risk of IS as per the results of the meta-analysis (R vs. S : odds ratio [OR], 2.75; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.15-3.51; p<0.00001; RS vs. SS : OR, 2.50; 95% CI, 1.95-3.19; p<0.00001; RR+RS vs. SS : OR, 2.85, 95% CI, 2.21-3.67; p<0.00001). The E-selectin gene S128R polymorphism is likely related to IS based on the results of a meta-analysis in the Chinese population, and the R allele and RS genotype of E-selectin may be IS risk factors.

Several related results deal with iterative approximations of fixed points of ∮-hemicontractions by the ishikawa iteration with errors in a normed linear space. Certain conditions on the iterative parameters {${\alpha}$n}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} , {${\beta}$n}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} and t are also given which guarantee the strong convergence of the iteration processes.

고DHA(Docosahexaenoic Acid)어유가 첨가된 식이가 흰쥐의 항혈전 및 지질과산화물대사에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Docosahexaenoic Acid Rich-Fish Oil Addition on Antithrombotic effect and Lipid Peroxidation in Rat)

  • This study was undertaken to elucidate the effect of DHA rich fish oil(DHA rich oil) added to different dietary fats on thrombosis and lipid peroxidation. Rats were fed perilla oil, sesame oil and beef tallow with or without DHA rich oil for 12 weeks. Bleeding time was the longest in Perilla oil groups with or without DHA rich oil. The productions of thromboxane B2(TX B2) and 6-keto Prostaglandin F1$\alpha$(6-keto PG F1$\alpha$) were the highest in Esame oil group without DHA rich oil. Bleeding time tended to be extened and group showed the most antithrombotic effect among three oil groups when DHA rich oil added. The antithrombotic effect by DHA rich oil addition seemed to be resulted from the increase of dietary n-3 fatty acid rather than DHA. And there was not the difference in antithrombotic effect between DHA and $\alpha$-linolinic acid. The level of TBARS(thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) in plasma and liver, and the activities of lipid peroxide metabolizing enzymes(catalase, superoxide dismutase and gluthathion peroxidase) in erythrocyte and liver were not affected by the dietry fat type and DHA rich oil addition, except that activity of hepatic catalase was increased by DHA rich oil addition. Therefore it revealed the DHA level added in this study seldom affected lipid peroxidation. However, it dose not conclude that DHA level of this study make low production of lipid peroxide because the peroid of our study was short.

V2X 차량 통신용 5.9 GHz 버틀러 매트릭스의 광대역화 설계 (Band-Broadening Design of the Butler Matrix for V2X - 5.9 GHz Communication)

  • 본 논문에서는 5.9 GHz에서 동작하는 광대역의 Butler Matrix에 기반한 차량 간 통신(V2X)용 안테나의 설계법이 제시된다. V2X가, 교통 시스템의 지능화, 모바일 통신 기능의 다각화, 주파수 자원의 포화문제 해소, 신호 송수신의 효율성을 극대화를 위한 빔 형성 및 빔 조향 안테나를 필요로 함에 따라, 부피가 크지 않으면서 요구사항을 충족할 수 있는 Butler Matrix 급전부와 그에 연결된 방사체를 구현한다. 기본적인 Butler Matrix를 구성하는 협대역 부품들과 방사체가 먼저 설계된 다음, 안테나 시스템의 차량 장착시에 발생될 주파수 천이에 대해 영향을 크게 받지 않기 위한 광대역용 Butler matrix의 구성품들이 설계된다. 협대역과 광대역 구조들의 성능들이 서로 비교되어, 빔 형성 및 빔 조향의 공통된 성능을 보이는 동시에, 주파수 영역에서 대역폭 관점에서의 차별성이 도시된다.

볼링 투구동작의 운동역학적 연구 (Biomechanical Analysis of a Bowling Swing)

  • The general objective of this study was to investigate biomechanical characteristics of bowling swing using three-dimensional cinematography. This study focused specifically on movements of the upper body segments during a bowling swing. Eight elite female bowling players participated in this study. Subjects performed bowling swing and their performance was sampled at 60 frame/sec using two high-speed video cameras with a synchronizer. After digitizing images from two cameras, the two-dimensional coordinates were used to produce three-dimensional coordinates of the 12 body segments (20 joint reference makers). The obtained three-dimensional coordinates were fed to a custom-written kinematic and kinetic analyses program (LabView 6.1, National Instrument, Austin, TX, USA). The analyses determined the linear and angular kinematic variables of the body segments with which joint force and torque of the lower and upper trunks and the shoulder were estimated based on the Newton-Euler equations. It was found that during the bowling swing the peak linear velocities of the body segments were reached in sequence the trunk, the shoulder, the elbow, the wrist, and the bowl. This result indicates that linear momentum of the lower body and the trunk transmits to the arm segment during the bowling swing. The joint torques of the torso and the arm occurred almost simultaneously, indicating that bowling swing seem to be a push-like motion, rather than a proximal-distal sequence motion in which many of throwing motions are categorized. The ultimate objective of the bowling swing is to release a heavy-weight bowl with power and consistency. Therefore, the bowling swing observed in this study well agrees with that bowlers use the stepping to increase the linear velocity of the bowl, the simple pendulum system and the push-like segmental motion in the torso and the arm segment to enhance the power at the release of the bowl.

Loss of Expression of PTEN is Associated with Worse Prognosis in Patients with Cancer

  • Background: The tumor suppressor phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) is an important negative regulator of cell-survival signaling. However, available results for the prognostic value of PTEN expression in patients with cancer remain controversial. Therefore, a meta-analysis of published studies investigating this issue was performed. Materials and Methods: A literature search via PubMed and EMBASE databases was conducted. Statistical analysis was performed by using the STATA 12.0 (STATA Corp., College, TX). Data from eligible studies were extracted and included into the meta-analysis using a random effects model. Results: A total of 3,810 patients from 27 studies were included in the meta-analysis, 22 investigating the relationship between PTEN expression and overall survival (OS) using univariate analysis, and nine with multivariate analysis. The pooled hazard ratio (HR) for OS was 1.64 (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.32-2.05) by univariate analysis and 1.56 (95% CI: 1.20-2.03) by multivariate analysis. In addition, eight papers including two disease-free-survival analyses (DFSs), four relapse-free-survival analyses (RFSs), three progression-free-survival analyses (PFSs) and one metastasis-free-survival analysis (MFS) reported the effect of PTEN on survival. The results showed that loss of PTEN expression was significant correlated with poor prognosis, with a combined HR of 1.74 (95% CI: 1.24-2.44). Furthermore, in the stratified analysis by the year of publication, ethnicity, cancer type, method, cut-off value, median follow-up time and neoadjuvant therapy in which the study was conducted, we found that the ethnicity, cancer type, method, median follow-up time and neoadjuvant therapy are associated with prognosis. Conclusions: Our study shows that negative or loss of expression of PTEN is associated with worse prognosis in patients with cancer. However, adequately designed prospective studies need to be performed for confirmation.

실내공기질 측정 및 관리를 위한 브랜드 서비스디자인 연구 (A Study on the Brand Service Design for Measuring and Managing Indoor Air Quality)

  • 우리나라 대기환경의 질적 하락으로 인한 영향과 주변환경에 의해 실내공기질은 매우 심각한 상황에 직면하고 있다. 이러한 일반인들의 위험성에 대한 인식은 높아지고 있으나, 실질적으로 대기환경 뿐만이 아니라 실내공기의 질적 하락에 대한 인식과 이에 따른 대책을 강구하기 위한 방안은 설정되지 않았다. 본 연구는 실내공기질에 대한 궁극적인 관리를 위해 측정과 관리를 위한 신규 브랜드의 기초설계 연구로 서비스디자인 기법을 적용한 일반 소비자의 실내공기질 관리 행태에 대한 관찰을 통해 브랜드 방향성을 도출하기 위해 연구되었다. 연구방법론으로는 서비스디자인의 설계로 일반가정, 일반 소형사무실, 공공시설의 이용행태에 대한 관찰과 현재 법률상의 이유로 시행되고 있는 실내공기질 측정에 대한 프로세스를 관찰하여 기록한 후 전문가 의견을 수렴하여 보편적인 문제점과 방향성을 도출하였다.

Regions in China identification and quality control of radix Codonopsis by chemical fingerprint: Evaluation of lobetyolin from different cultivated

  • By using high-performance liquid chromatography-photodiode array detection, a simple and accurate chromatographic fingerprint method was developed for the identification of Radix Codonopsis (roots of Codonopsis) from different sources. Eighteen herbs of Codonopsis at different habitats in China, including roots from Codonopsis pilosula, Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta and Codonopsis tangshen were analyzed by the fingerprint. The amount of lobetyolin was calibrated, which was found to be more consistent in roots of Codonopsis pilosula as compared to that of Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta and Codonopsis tangshen. Having the fingerprint results, hierarchical clustering analyses were performed to classify the eighteen herbs into three groups: Codonopsis pilosula, Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta and Codonopsis tangshen. This clustering analysis agrees very well with the pharmacognostic identification result, and which could be used as a tool in the quality control of Radix Codonopsis.

Comparison of nonlinear 1$1/2$-layer and 2$1/2$-layer numerical models with strong offshore winds and the Tsushima Current in the East Sea

  • According to numerical experiments, the Sokcho Eddy is produced at $37 5~39.0^{\circ}N$ by strong offshore winds, whereas the Ulleung Eddy is produced at $35~37^{\circ}N$ by an inflow variation of the Tsushima Current. These locations compare well with visual observations. The nonlinear 1$1/2$-layer model showed that most of the East Korea Warm Current (EKWC) driven by the Tsushima Current form the Ulleung Eddy that is larger and stronger than the Sokcho Eddy. In contrast, the nonlinear 2$1/2$-layer model showed that most of the EKWC travels further northward due to a strong subsurface current, thereby enhancing the Sokcho Eddy making it larger and stronger than the Ulleung Eddy. The Sokcho Eddy is also produced relatively offshore due to an eastward subsurface current in the frontal region. Using the 1$1/2$-layer model, when the mass of the Tsushima Current decreases, the two eddies are weakened and produce a circular shape. In the 2$1/2$-layer model the EKWC pushes the Ulleung Eddy northward after 330 days, next the Sokcho and Ulleung eddies begin to interact with each other, and then after 360 days the Ulleung Eddy finally disappears absorbed by the relatively stronger Sokcho Eddy. This behavior compares favorably with other visual observations.

국내 DAA 기술 기준을 고려한 MB-OFDM UWB 성능 평가 (A Performance Evaluation of MB-OFDM UWB System Considering the Domestic DAA Regulation)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 $3.1{\sim}4.8$ GHz 대역에서 UWB를 허용하기 위해 국내에서 제시한 DAA 기술 기준을 적용하여 MB-OFDM UWB(Multi-Band Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Ultra Wide Band) 시스템과 피 간섭신호간의 성능을 평가하는 것이다. DAA 기술 기준에서 정한 피 간섭 신호로는 유럽에서 DAA 적용 시스템으로 검토하고 있는 WiMAX나 국내에 도입될 것으로 예상되는 4G 시스템 등이 있다. MB-OFDM UWB 시스템은 TFC(Time Frequency Code)에 따라 심볼마다 3개 주파수 대역을 호핑하는 TFI(Time frequency Interleaving) 모드와 하나의 주파수 대역을 선택하여 신호를 전송하는 FFI(Fixed Frequency Interleaving) 모드를 지원한다. 본 논문에서는 호핑 모드에 따른 간섭 영향을 정확하게 분석하기 위해 TFC에 따른 평균 송신 출력 및 동기 구조를 반영하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 국내 DAA 기술 기준을 적용할 경우, UWB 간섭 신호로부터 Wi-MAX 통신 시스템은 철저히 보호되는 반면, MB-OFDM UWB 시스템은 DAA 검출 레벨의 간섭 신호에 의해 주파수 다양성 효과를 얻을 수 있는 주파수 호핑 모드에서 조차 심각한 성능 저하가 발생하였다.
