A Study on Characteristic of Spiral Inductor with Patterned Ground Shield (패턴드 그라운드 쉴드를 적용한 나선형 인덕터 특성 연구)

  • This paper presents the characteristic of rectangular and octagonal spiral inductor using PGS(Patterned Ground Shield). We investigated variation of inductance and Q-factor with changing of turn number at fixed width, spacing and inner diameter. We confirmed that characteristic of inductance and Q-factor be appled PGS in rectangular and octagonal types spiral inductor by EM simulation tool. Inductance decreased irrespective of structure but Q-factor increased. When PGS not exist, Q-factor of Inductor is analogous at classification frequency but, rectangular is a few larger then octagonal in small turn number. The other side, When PGS is inserted, we confirmed that octagonal lager then rectangular in many turn number. Q-factor is improved in case of octagonal structure and small turn number by PGS effect.

  • In this paper, the influence of electrical parameters such as the turn-on and turn-off angle on the torque and force characteristics is investigated for the reduction of the torque ripple which is main source of vibration and noise in switched reluctance motor (SRM). The four different types of the turn-on angle are set to the section of rising inductance profile respectively. The optimum turn-on angle is proposed for the acquisition of the flat current shape minimizing the torque ripple. 2D finite element method (FEM) considering the iron saturation and the actual switching circuit of the SRM drive is applied for the dynamic analysis. The simulation results of phase current and torque are also compared to the experimental results.

  • Proton irradiation technology was used for improvement of switching characteristics of the PT-IGBT. Proton irradiation was carried out at 5.56 MeV energy with $1{\times}10^{12}/cm^2$ doze from the back side of the wafer. Characterization of the device was performed by I-V, breakdown voltage, threshold voltage, and turn-off delay time measurement. For irradiated device by 5.56 MeV energy, the breakdown voltage and the threshold voltage were 730 V and 6.5~6.6 V, respectively. The turn-off time has been reduced to 170 ns, which was original $6\;{\mu}s$ for the un-irradiated device.

  • In this paper, A fuzzy logic based turn-off angle compensator for torque ripple reduction in a linear switched reluctance motor is proposed. The turn-off angle, as a complex function of motor speed and current, is automatically changed for a wide speed range to reduce torque ripple. Simulation results are presented that show ripple reduction when the him-off angle compensator is used.

  • A novel soft-switching pulse-width modulated boost-type DC-DC converter topology is presented in this paper. The conventional boost switch is replaced by a switching cell that is comprised of two switch-diode pairs being linked by an inductor for zero-current switching turn-on. The diodes commutate the current that is flowing through the soft-switching inductor when the two switch turn-off. The capacitor is placed in parallel with the two switches during turn-off, thus providing zero-voltage switching turn-off. Simulation results are presented to support the theoretical considerations.

  • Because of using PWM inverters and converters. The problems of insulation breakdown is emerging in both high voltage motors and general motors. In conventional methods, the viewpoint of surge problems is wave propagation with or without cable and inverter. For the purpose of knowing the situation of insulation breakdown, the end-turn coil of windings in the motor winding insulation structure is modelled by FEM, and field analysis of that is done. For first step, only end-turn coil is modelled and the model is simulated with FEM by approximating the resistivity of metallic foil surrounding insulation layers with having nonlinear property. Next, the result of simulation with nonlinear resistivity are compared with the result of linear resistivity. Because of microscope analysis, there is the problem of generalization but the situation of corona discharge in end-turn coil will be explained from this simulation.

  • It needs to consider of turns during a path-finding on real road network. Because a car is delayed by waiting a traffic signal and decreasing speed when drived in a turn road such as cross road and slip road. If a straightness of a path is increased, a real cost of traveling should be able to decrease. An older method, the algorithm with Turn Heuristic, considered of this case. The algorithm, that differently gave weights to left, right and U-turns, improved a straightness of a path, but increased a cost of exploring. In this paper, we propose a improved Turn Heuristic Algorithm. Proposed algorithm uses Dynamic Turn Heuristic. It is able to more decrease a cost of exploring than older method by using the Turn Heuristic in a part of path-finding.
