Flammable Evaluation of Plastics for Living by Cone Calorimeter Test (콘칼로리미터 시험법에 의한 생활용 플라스틱의 가연성 평가)

  • It was conceived from the realization that there was a lack of studies on the fire risk compared to utility and importance of plastic which is widely used. In this study, the fire hazard of five types of plastic products was measured by Cone Calorimeter (ISO 5660-1). As a result, the time to ignition (TTI) of polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) plate delayed TTI (196 s), and polystyrene (PS) plate had the shortest TTI of 19 s. The total heat release (THR) of PS plate was measured at 213.07 % higher than the lowest measured PVC plate. Also, the PS plate will have 1.45 to 4.21 times higher $CO_2$ than other plastics, resulting in the highest incomplete combustion and the greatest possible damage of life. Thus, assessing the risk of fire revealed that PS plate is the most dangerous and PVC is the safest.

  • In this study, a classification analysis was performed based on the type of traffic situation. The purpose was to derive the major variable factors that could represent the traffic situation. The TTI(Travel Time Index) was used as a criterion for determining traffic conditions, and analysis was performed using data generally detected by the Vehicle Detecting System(VDS). First, the major factors influencing the traffic situation were selected through factor analysis, and traffic conditions were clustered through a cluster analysis of the major factors. After that, variance analysis for each cluster was performed based on the TTI, and similar clusters were merged to categorize the type of traffic situation. The analysis derived, the maximum queue length and occupancy as major factors that could represent the traffic situation. Through this study, it is expected that efficient management of traffic congestion would be possible by just concentrating on the main variable factors that affect the traffic situation.

  • Most protection systems such as seat belts and airbags are not effective means for side structure. There has been significant effort in the automobile industries in seeking other protective methods, such as stiffer structure and padding on the door inner panel. Therefore, a car-to-car side impact model has been developed using ATB occupant simulation program and validated for test data of the vehicle. Compared to the existing side impact models, the developed model has a more detailed vehicle side structure representation for the more realistic impact response of the door. This model include impact bar which effectively increases the side structure stiffness without reduction of space between the occupant and the door and padding for absorbing impact energy. The established model is applied to a 4-door vehicle. The parameter study indicated that a stiffer impact bar would reduce both the acceleration-based criteria, such as thoracic trauma index: TTI(d), and deformation-based criteria, such as viscous criterion(VC). Padding on the door inner panel would reduce TTI(d) while VC gives the opposite indication in a specified thickness range. For a 4-door vehicle, the stiffness enhancement of B-pillar is more beneficial than that of A-pillar for occupant injury severity indices.

  • Time-temperature indicators (TTI) from three different companies obtained and were attached to food packages materials to evaluate degree of their color change according to storage time and temperature. Five temperature (-10 -5, 0, 5 and 10) was selected to represent standard freezing, refrigerating and room temperature, and evaluated performance by color change based on magnitude of color change and hunter system (L, a, b). Response end point was measured and recorded to find characteristic of each indicator. Comparison and discussion were conducted for accuracy and precision of each time-temperature. More research should be conducted at variable temperature and with various food to determine applicability of TTI on various storage condition.

  • 현재, TPEG 포럼(Forum)에서는 RTM전술한 바와 같이 주차장 정보(PKI), 혼잡 및 여행시간 정보(CTI), 날씨정보(WEA), 환경오염경보(EIA) 등의 신규 서비스에 대한 표준화가 진행중에 있지만, TPEG에서 정의된 TTI(교통 및 여행(자) 정보) 응용서비스는 RTM과 PTI와 같은 교통정보에만 국한되어 서비스 제공되고 있다. 본 논문은 TPEG 기반 응용서비스의 다양성 한계를 극복하고 많은 고부가가치 서비스들 중에 뉴스정보(News)를 선정하고, 기존 TPEG(Transport Protocol Expert Group) 프로토콜과 호환성을 유지하며, 이동멀티미디어 방송 시스템을 통해 효과적으로 서비스할 수 있는 프레임 구조를 정의한다. 이를 위해, 기존 TPEG프레임의 구조를 분석하고, 신규 응용서비스(뉴스정보)를 위한 프레임을 구성하는 각 필드들과 각 필드에 쓰여질 관련 DB 테이블과 구성방법을 정의한다. 또한 이동멀티미디어 방송시스템(T-DMB)을 통한 콘텐츠 저작, 스트림 생성 및 전송, 그리고 TPEG 디코더가 내장된 수신단말에서의 구현 결과물을 보임으로써 신규 제안된 뉴스정보의 타당성을 검증한다.

Development of a Time-temperature Indicator for Managing the Distribution Temperature of Frozen Mackerel Scomber japonicus (냉동 고등어(Scomber japonicus)의 유통 온도 관리를 위한 Time-temperature Indicator 개발)

  • We developed a time-temperature indicator (TTI) that rapidly determines whether frozen mackerel Scomber japonicus has thawed during its distribution. Our TTI was made from filter paper capable of absorbing mackerel exudate that was soaked in a 20% citric acid solution at pH 4.0 and then dried. The dried absorbent paper was cut and attached to blue litmus paper with a 2 mm overhang. The fixed litmus paper was covered with a polypropylene film and sealed. The indicator was placed inside a polyvinyl vacuum package containing the mackerel sample. The vacuum-sealed packaged was frozen at $-20^{\circ}C$ for 24 h. After freezing, the color change and time dependence of the indicator were observed at room temperature ($25^{\circ}C$) and demonstrated the utility of this TTI for rapidly determining whether frozen mackerel underwent thawing during distribution.

First Record of the Eyeshade Sculpin Nautichthys pribilovius (Hemitripteridae: Pisces) from the East Sea, Korea

  • A new record of the eyeshade sculpin Nautichthys pribilovius is described on the basis of a single specimen collected from the East Sea, Korea. The species has 23 second dorsal fin rays, rounded spines on the occiput, a black band through the eye and across the cheek, branched caudal fin rays and a branchiostegal membrane attached to the isthmus. The new Korean name "Gum-eun-tti-nun-hoet-dae-sok" is proposed for the genus Nautichthys, and "Gum-eun-tti-nun-hoet-dae" is proposed for the species N. pribilovius.

  • The terrestrial-DMB (T-DMB) provides one-way broadcasting service in intial phase and two-way interactive data services through a return channel of mobile communications network are commercialized recently. The possible evolution of the T-DMB will be fully convergence between the T-DMB and other communication services such as telematics, RFID and so on. From this evolution point of view, a framework should be defined for supporting telematics and RFID applications on T-BMB platform. In this paper, we propose an integrated service model that could support RFID application services on the interactive T-DMB. To realize the model, we design a service scenario, a network reference model, functionalities of each entity, a data transmission mechanism messages, and coding rules. The service model could allow users to support the identical RFID application services over the T-DMB network even if T-DMB terminal doesn't have RFID reader capability. In addition, in the case for providing the interactive TTI(Traffic and Travel Information)service, users could utilize the current location based RFID application service using by the TPEG-Location application that forms the basis of user location referencing. The messages structure is designed by following TPEG standardization

A Time-temperature Indicator for A Vision Based-Detection System for Managing the Storage Temperature of Frozen Fish Products (냉동 수산물의 저장 온도 관리를 위한 Time-temperature Indicator와 비전 기반 Indicator 분석 프로그램 개발)

  • We develop a time-temperature indicator (TTI) that can determine whether thawing of fish and other fishery products has occurred during frozen storage. A polypropylene tube with an internal diameter of 3 mm was prepared and cut to a length of 14 to 20 mm. One end of the tube was thermally sealed and 0.1% acetic acid was injected into the other end; the tube was then frozen at $20^{\circ}C$. Then the open side of the frozen tube was blocked by sinking the tube into a 10% gelatin solution. The tube was attached to a polyvinyl packaging bag along blue litmus paper and the bag was put into a freezer at $-20^{\circ}C$. After freezing, the bag was removed to an ambient temperature of $20^{\circ}C$, and the time dependence of the color change of the litmus paper was observed. The color changed from blue to red, with the length of the red region increasing with time. Our TTI can be used as a part of a visible detection system and the detection program can conduct the elapsed time analysis on the length of the red region of the litmus paper indicating the degree of thawing. Thus, the TTI is a useful tool in the temperature management of frozen fish and fishery products.
