The effect of weldbond hybrid joining process on the mechanical behavior of single lap and L-tensile joints was investigated for the newly developed 1.2GPa grade ultra high strength TRIP(transformation induced plasticity) steel. In the case of single lap shear behavior, the weldbond joint of 1.2GPa TRIP steel showed lower maximum tensile load and elongation than that of the adhesive bonding only. It was considered to be due to the reduction of real adhesion area, which was caused by the degradation of adhesive near the spot weld, and the brittle fracture behavior of the spot weld joint. In the case of L-tensile behavior, however, the maximum tensile load of the weldbond joint of 1.2GPa TRIP steel was dramatically increased and the fracture mode was change to the base metal fracture which is desirable for the spot weld joint. These synergic effect of the weldbond hybrid joining process in 1.2GPa TRIP steel was considered to be due to the stress dissipation around the spot weld joint by the presence of adhesive which resulted in the change of crack propagation path.

Effect of lip shape on the hole flangeability of high strength steel sheets is investigated. Circular plates of various hole sizes are tested and the variation of lip length as well as the variation of thickness on the sectional views of the finished lip were studied. The conventional hole flanging process is limited to a certain limit hole diameter below which failure will ensue during the hole expansion. The intention of this work is to examine the effect of lip shape on the flangeability of TRIP steel and Ferrite-Bainite duplex steel and find out major parameters which can affect flanging shape of high strength hot rolled steels. Over the ranges of conditions investigated, the minimum hole diameter of F+B steel is better than TRIP steel. while, the lip-shape accuracy of TRIP steel is better than that of F+B steel. although the tensile strength and elongation of %P steel are superior than those of Ferrite-Bainite duplex steel, the flangeability is found to be not so strongly sensitive to the tensile properties but sensitive to displacement on the circumferential direction of hole edge.
The effect of chemical composition on the microstructural change and tensile property in TRIP-assisted steels with different chemical composition was investigated by using SEM, TEM, XRD and UTM. As a result of microscopic observation, the morphology of retained austenite could be identified as two types; a granular type in a steel containing higher Si and a film type in a steel having higher C. For the case of higher C-containing steel with a tensile strength of 860 MPa and a total elongation of 38%, film-typed retained austenite could be observed between lath bainitic ferrite. Actually, metastable retained austenite was a requisite for the good formability, which means that chemical composition plays a significant role in the microstructure and tensile property of TRIP-assisted steels. With respect to tensile property, the steels containing suitable Si and Mn, respectively, showed a typical TRIP effect in stress-strain curve, while a steel containing higher Mn content exhibited the similar behavior shown in dual phase steel.
The present study aimed to develop the TRIP(transformation induced plasticity) aided high strength low carbon steel sheets using reverse transformation process. The cold-rolled 0.14C-6.5Mn steel was reverse-transformed by slow heating to intercritical temperature region and air cooling to room temperature. An excellant combination of tensile strength and elongation of $98.3kgf/mm^2$ and 44.4% appears. This combination comes from TRIP phenomena of retained austenite during deformation. The stability of retained austenite Is very Important for the good ductility and it depends on diffusion of carbon and manganese during reverse transformation. The air cooling after holding at intercritical temperature retards the formation of pearlite and provides the carbon enrichment in retained austenite, resulting the increase of elongation in cold-roiled TRIP steel.

In this study, three cold-rolled TRIP steels containing different Al content (0.04wt%, 1.0 wt.% and 2.00wt%) were fabricated to understand the complex effects of Al in TRIP steel. The influences of Al on microstructural evolution of cold-rolled TRIP steels have been analyzed by using advanced analysis techniques, such as transmission electron microscope (TEM) and three dimensional atom probe tomography (3D-APT). TEM results revealed that second phases such as bainte and retained austenite decrease with increase of Al content. In addition, 3D-APT was used to characterize atomic-scale distribution of alloying elements at the constituent phases. Through these analysis techniques, the advanced characteristics of constituent microstructure in TRIP steels were identified depending on Al contents in TRIP steels.

The hole flanging experiments are performed on a flat circular plates with a hole in the center and the flangeability and fracture behavior of TRIP steel and ferrite-bainite duplex steel were examined. Over the ranges of conditions investigated, the flangeability of ferrite-bainite duplex steel is better than TRIP steel and the term 'hole flanging capacity' introduced in this study. Fracture behavior of TRIP steel and ferrite-bainite duplex steel was characterized by petal formation at the edge of flange. In case of crack propagation, crack tip diversion that is supposed to be responsible for flangeability occurs more severely on HSLA Steel.
The cyclic hardening behavior of transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steels shows tension-compression asymmetry known to be attributed to transformation of retained austenite into martensite during deformation. In this work, YoshidaUemori hardening model was used to represent the asymmetric hardening behavior of TRIP1180 steel. Yoshida-Uemori hardening model parameters were obtained from three sets of data: tension-compression, compression-tension, and a combination of the two. Material models were validated for U-bending and springback.
The development of lightweight car bodies is the most prominent issue in the automotive industry today, in preparation of environmental regulations such as reduction of CO$_2$ emissions. Also, with the recent implementation of mandatory off-set collision test, many studies have been carried out to enhance the safety of automobiles. Recently, TRIP(Transformation Induced Plasticity) steel has developed as a prominent alternative due to its high strength and superior elongation. In this study, TRIP steel weldability is evaluated with lobe curve, continuous spot welds, shunt effect, and weld of edge position.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the characteristics of springback for the U-bending of steel sheets for automotive body panels. This study presents the experimental and analytical approach for the two kind of steel sheets, namely SCP1 and TRIP(Transformation-induced plasticity), the newly developed high strength steel. The adopted thicknesses are 0.8, 1.2 and 1.6 mm for SCP1, and 1.0 mm for TRIP. The punch profile radii are designed in 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 mm. As results, the springgo aspect could be observed experimently in the small punch profile radius. The degree of springback for TRIP sheets was more than the SCP1 sheets.
Various types of high strength steel sheets were usually used for improving the automobile safety and fuel efficiency by reducing the vehicle weight. The present study aimed to develop the TRIP (transformation induced plasticity) aided high-strength low carbon steel sheets by using a reverse transformation process. The 0.1C-4~8Mn steels were reverse-transformed by slow heating to intercritical temperature region and then furnace cooled to the room temperature. Granular type retained austenite was observed in 4Mn steel and lath type retained austenite was also observed in 6~8Mn steel. The results show that the 6Mn steel under reverse transformed at $625^{\circ}C$ for 6 hrs has maximum elongation up to 39%. The optimum strength-elongation combination was 3,888 ($kg/mm^2{\times}%$) when the 8Mn steel was reverse transformed at $625^{\circ}C$ for 12 h.
