강원도 및 경기도 소재 유류오염지역의 수질특성, 발현 생분해능과 오염물질 저감속도 (A Study on Groundwater Quality and Biodegradability at the Petroleum Contaminated Sites of Kangwon and Gyeonggi Provinces, Korea)

  • This study focused on the groundwater quality, biodegradability and attenuation rate at the petroleum contaminated sites of Kangwon and Gyeonggi Provinces, Korea. For groundwater quality, Kangwon site showed chemical compositions of $Ca-SO_4+Cl$, $Ca-HCO_3$ and $Na+K-HCO_3$ types, while Gyeonggi site showed chemical compositions of $Ca-SO_4$, $Ca-HCO_3$ and $Na-HCO_3$ types. $Na+K-HCO_3$ and $Na-HCO_3$ types were detected only in February. Among many biodegradation processes, the majority was attributed to biodegradation from denitrification in both area. In Kangwon site, biodegradation from denitrification occupied 63.5%, and in Gyeonggi site it was 39.45%. Biodegradation from the most efficient aerobic respiration occupied 7.12% in Kangwon site, while Gyeonggi site in it did 27.29%. Point attenuation rate of BTEX in Gyeonggi site (GW-22) was 0.0182 $day^{-1}$, half life of BTEX was 84 days, and thus 124 days (0.34 year) would be required to clean up this site. Mean of point attenuation rate of TPH in Kangwon site was 0.0088 $day^{-1}$, mean of half life was 257 days, and thus 462 days would be required to clean up the site. Mean of point attenuation rate of TPH in Gyeonggi site was 0.0387 $day^{-1}$, mean of half life was 55 days, and thus remediation time was calculated as 99 days.

온담탕가미방(溫膽湯加味方)의 항산화와 Serotonin 대사 과정에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of OnDam-tang-Kami-bang (ODK) in Antioxidant and Serotonin Metabolism Testing on P815 Cell)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of antioxidant activities and serotonin activities of OnDam-tang-Kami-bang (ODK) on P815 Mast Cell. Methods : The effects of ODK on the activation of DPPH radical-scavenging and SOD in P815 mast cell were investigated. The effect of ODK on the content of serotonin in P815 mast cell was investigated. The effects of ODK on the activation of 5-HTT, TPH-1 mRNA in P815 mast cell were investigated. Results : It was found that the ODK increased SOD activities and DPPH radical-scavenging activities in the P815 mast cell. Also, the ODK decreased the intracellular concentration of serotonin in the P815 mast cell. Further, the ODK decreased 5-HTT and TPH-1 mRNA expression in the P815 mast cell. Conclusions : The results of this experiment reveal that ODK has significant antioxidative effects. However, ODK decreased the intracellular concentration of serotonin and mRNA expression of 5-HTT and TPH-1, which implies that ODK might not be effective for treating depression. Further research exploring the positive aspects of ODK is suggested such that ODK could adequately target symptoms that are to be treated.

디젤 오염토양에서 화학적 산화에 의한 PAH 분해특성 및 PAH 분해미생물의 거동

  • The effect of in-situ chemical oxidation on the indigenous soil microorganisms (total microbes and PAH-degrading microbes) and contaminant removal were investigated. Field soil contaminated with diesel in gas station was collected and the soil was treated from 0 to 900 minutes by in-situ ozonation as chemical remediation. The treated soil samples were incubated with supplying oxygen during the 9 weeks to understand the characteristics of microbes regrowth, damaged by ozone. The sharp decrease of aromatic fraction and TPH was observed within 60 minutes of ozone application and aromatic fraction and TPH then slowly decreased. The phenanthren-degrading bacteria were the most sensitive to ozonation, because 1 hour of ozonation reduced the microbes from 10$^{6}$ CFU/g-soil to below detection limits.

  • A lab-scale slurry reactor was developed for the treatment of contaminated sediments with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (naphthalene, phenanthrene). In this system, range from 85 to 95% of PAHs with 2~3 rings were degraded within 11 days. Higher naphthalene degradation(94.05%) over phenanthrene degradation(87.07%) was probably due its higher solubility. Both compounds were not detected in aqueous phase after 7days and only 26.8% of naphthalene and 49.1% of phenanthrene were biodegraded. Removal TPH(Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon) concentration in solid after 11 days of treatment was 46%.

순환유동층보일러의 연료유연성 실증연구 (The fuel flexibility of CFBC boiler)

  • Fuel flexibility of CFBC boiler was examined. Combustion characteristics of low grade coal, coal sludge, coal RDF mixture and RDF were compared. The operation result of a commercial 130TPH CFBC co-generation boiler burning a low grade Chinese coal were analysed. Burning characteristics of coal/RDF mixture and coal and industrial sludge mixture were studied in a 0.1MWth scale CFBC test rig. Also RDF fuel were tested in a 8TPH CFBC test facility. Though fuel characteristics were different, the combustion modes were all very stable. The temperature were maintained in between $800-950^{\circ}C$.

가미소요산(加味逍遙散)의 항산화 효과와 serotonin 대사과정에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Gamisoyo-san(Jiaweixiaoyaosan) on Serotonin Metabolism)

  • Objectives : This experiment was designed to investigate the effect of Gamisoyo-san(Jiaweixiaoyaosan, SYS) on serotonin activity of P815 Mast Cell. Methods : The effects of SYS on activation of TPH-1 mRNA and AAADC mRNA in P815 mast cell were investigated. The effect of SYS on content of serotonin in P815 mast cell was investigated. The effects of SYS on activation of DPPH and SOD in P815 mast cell were investigated. Results : 1. The SYS increased the activation of SOD and DPPH in P815 mast cell. 2. The SYS decreased the manifestation TPH-1 mRNA in P815 mast cell. 3. The SYS decreased the manifestation AAADC mRNA in P815 mast cell. Conclusions : This experiment shows that Gamisoyo-san might not be effective for treating depression in terms of biogenic amine theory. However, Gamisoyo-san showed significant anti-oxidative effect and it can not yet be ruled out for treating depression. Therefore, pathogenesis of depression and clinical research of Gamisoyo-san is suggested for future research.

가미귀비탕(加味歸脾湯)이 P815세포의 serotonin 대사 과정에 미치는 영향 (Study on Effect to Serotonin Metabolism of Gamiguibi-tang on P815 Cell)

  • Objectives: This study was perfomed to investigate the antioxidant activity and serotonin activity of Gami-guibi-tang on P815 Mast Cell. Methods: The effects of Gami-guibi-tang on activation of TPH-1 mRNA and AAADC mRNA in P815 mast cell were investigated. The effect of Gami-guibi-tang on content of serotonin in P815 mast cell was investigated. The effects of Gami-guibi-tang on activation of DPPH radical scavenging and SOD in P815 mast cell were investigated. Results: 1. The Gami-guibi-tang increased SOD activity and DPPH radical scavenging activity. 2. The Gami-guibi-tang increased the intracellular concentration of serotoninin 60 ${\mu}g/ml$, 80 ${\mu}g/ml$ experiment group. 3. The Gami-guibi-tang increased menaingful the manifestation TPH mRNA. 4. The manifestation of AAADC and MAO mRNA have not made menaingful changes on Gami-guibi-tang. Conclusions: This experiment shows that Gami-guibi-tang had significant anti-oxidative effect. And Gami-guibi-tang increased the intracellular concentration of serotonin. Therefore, Gami-guibi-tang can be used by the medication of major depression disorder. But Study on mechanism of increased serotonin and clinical research of Gami-guibi-tang is suggested for future research.

Ethaverine 화합물이 P815 세포중의 Serotonin 함량에 미치는 영향 (Inhibitory Effects of Ethaverine on Serotonin Content in Murine Mastocytoma P815 Cells)

  • The effects of ethaverine on serotonin biosynthesis in murine mastocytoma P815 cells were investigated. Ethaverine at 2.5${\sim}$10 ${\mu}$M decreased serotonin content in a concentration-dependent manner. The IC$_{50}$ value of ethaverine was 6.1 ${\mu}$M. Ethaverine at concentrations up to 20 ${\mu}$M was not cytotoxic towards P815 cells. Under these conditions, tryptophan hydroxylase (EC 1.14.16.4; TPH), a rate-limiting enzyme in serotonin biosynthesis, was inhibited by ethaverine in P815 cells (15.3% inhibition at 7.5 ${\mu}$M), however, aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.28) was not. These results indicate that ethaverine leads to a decrease in serotonin content by reducing TPH activity in P815 cells.

Investigation of Coke Formation in Dry Methane Reforming over Nickel-based Monolithic Catalysts

  • Coking accumulations via dry methane reforming (DMR) over 10NAM monolithic catalyst and pelletized catalyst was investigated. 10NAM catalyst was synthesized and coated on a wall of monolithic reactor. Pelletized catalyst of 10NAM was also prepared for the comparison. Consequently, catalyst was characterized by BET, $H_2-TPR$ and $H_2-TPD$. The catalytic reaction was undergone at $600^{\circ}C$ under atmospheric pressure and $CH_4$ to $CO_2$ reactant ratio of 1:2. The coking formation over spent catalyst was then carried out in the hydrogen flow using temperature programmed technique (TPH). According to the results, DMR over 10NAM monolithic catalyst exhibits a minimized coking formation comparing to the use of pelletized catalyst. This could be attributed to a prominent heat transfer efficiency of the monolithic catalyst.

마이크로웨이브와 고온발열체를 이용한 연속식 공정의 유류오염토양 처리에 관한 연구 (A Study on Treatment of a Contaminated Soil by Oil using Continuous System of High Temperature Heating Element and Microwave)

  • This study is maintains the condition of high temperature (above $600^{\circ}C$) within a short time using on microwave and high temperature heating elements. And removal characteristics according to changes in soil moisture, microwave power and temperature through the decomposition of the contaminated soil by oil. The difficulty resolvability material was sort of lubricating oil having long carbocyclic (C18-C50) and TPH removal rate reached 85.2% at 6 kW and $700^{\circ}C$ and thus the contaminant was removed 1,788 mg/kg within a process time of 40 minutes. In the case of light oil, gasoline contaminated soil, the removal amount showed 567 mg/kg and the treatment rate reached 98.4% at 6 kW, $500^{\circ}C$ and 20 minute. In the case of non-resolvability reached TPH concentrations on 2,000 mg/kg of worrisome level of soil contamination in the 3 zones at 6 kW, $700^{\circ}C$ and 30 minute. At the time, showed up processing costs 8,173 won per ton.
