3-dimensional formation system using a robot hand

  • In this paper we propose a 3-dimensional formation system using an arc welding robot. The principle of our system is just only to accumulate welding beads, so that the target 3-dimensional surfaces can be built up. Considering the effects of the gravity on the arc welding, the welding torch is steadily clamped and the position and the posture of the target board on which target work is formed is controlled by a 6-axis robot hand. Movements of the target board are controlled considering the 3dimensional shape of the target and the accumulating speed of the welding bead. In order to realize such systems, a distance sensor is mounted on the tip of the robot hand. And a coordinate transformation technique is employed

  • A CCD camera with a laser stripe was applied to realize the automatic weld seam tracking in GMAW. It takes relatively long time to process image on-line control using the basic Hough transformation, but it has a tendency of robustness over the noises such as spatter and arc light. For this reason. it was complemented with adaptive Hough transformation to have an on-line processing ability for scanning specific weld points. The adaptive Hough transformation was used to extract laser stripes and to obtain specific weld points. The 3-dimensional information obtained from the vision system made it possible to generate the weld torch path and to obtain the information such as width and depth of weld line. We controled the wire feeding rate using informations of weld line.

  • Orbital TIG welding process being used fur the new construction, the repair of nuclear piping system ana other critical piping. When weld quality is important or there are a large number of similar weld to be made or when access is restricted with manual torch, Orbital TIG welding is most effective process because of practical for out-of-position and high weld quality. Furthermore, typically superior to manual TIG welding process where the pipe remains in place and the tungsten electrode orbits the weld. As smaller and more compact welding head is being developed, could operate in tight spaces and lend itself to this type of application better than any other welding process. Orbital TIG welding has become more and more field practical process.

  • One of the areas in the continuous casting process that up to this point, has not been definitively instrumented is a method of reliably locating the part of a continuously cast strand that remains liquid for a period after the outer portion has solidified. To solve the problem. Electromagnetic Trandsducers(EMAT) which operate across an air gap without the need for a coupling medium has been developed. The system was designed to employ a through transmission technique which enhanced the signal-to-noise ratio. The Al 75$\times$75mm and 75$\times$100mm simulators with 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 mm hole respectively has been produced in order to verify the developed EMAT system and to measure to liquid core in continuous casting strand. The system developed can be employed for the optimization of torch cutting speed and for the final cut length of the bloom as well as calculation of average bloom temperature.

2차원 축대칭 열 플라즈마 시뮬레이션을 이용한 플라즈마 토치 해석

  • 열 플라즈마(thermal plasma) 는 저온 플라즈마(cold plasma)와 달리 이온과 전자와 중성입자들이 충분한 에너지 교환으로 인해 열평형 상태를 가진다. 열 플라즈마를 생성 시킬 때 전극 사이에서 아크방전을 시켜 제트 형태로 플라즈마를 발생시키는 것을 플라즈마 토치(plasma torch)라고 한다. 이러한 플라즈마 토치는 화학 원소 분해, 강판 절단, 유해 기체 분해 등으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 플라즈마 토치를 수치적으로 해석하여 플라즈마의 특성을 알아보았다. 수치해석적 접근방법으로 열 플라즈마는 LTE (local thermodynamic equilibrium)을 가정하였으며 one-fluid 이론을 적용하였다. 이때 사용된 코드는 DCPTUN으로서 $C^{+}^{+}$로 작성된 열플라즈마 유동의 특성해석 코드인 동시에 SIMPLE 알고리즘을 이용한 유체 코드이다. 시뮬레이션은 2차원 축대칭이며 정렬격자계 및 비정렬격자계 모두에서 사용이 가능하도록 되어있다. 또한 맥스웰 방정식을 통해 electromagnetic field를 풀도록 하여 RF 시뮬레이션이 가능하도록 하였다. 이와 같은 열 플라즈마 시뮬레이션을 통해서 플라즈마 토치의 특성을 알아보았다.

  • 대면적 그래핀의 높은 제조비용과 낮은 생산성으로 인해 최근 산화그래핀(GO)을 박리하여 대면적화 하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 하지만, Hummers 법에 의해 제조된 산화그래핀은 제조공정상 발생되는 황이나 수소 및 산소 등의 불순물에 의한 특성저하와 15층에서 25층 정도의 다층 구조에 의한 높은 접촉저항 때문에 그래핀 고유의 특성 발휘가 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 DC 열 플라즈마의 NH3 방전을 이용하여 산화그래핀의 불순물인 S, H, O를 완전히 제거하였고, DC 열 플라즈마 처리된 후의 산화그래핀의 Volume을 평균 2.5배정도 증가시켰다. 또한 N2와 He을 혼합 시킨 DC 열 플라즈마 방전으로 산화그래핀 표면에 N 을 도핑 하여 전기적 특성을 향상시켰다. N 도핑 농도는 최대 20wt%이었으며 N2과 He공급량, Current 조절에 의해 Dopping 농도를 제어하였다.

A Modular Neural Network for The GMA Welding Process Modelling (Modular 신경 회로망을 이용한 GMA 용접 프로세스 모델링)

  • In this paper, we proposes the steps adopted to construct the neural network model for GMAW welds. Conventional, automated process generally involves sophisticated sensing and control techniques applied to various processing parameters. Welding parameters are influenced by numerous factors, such as welding current, arc voltage, torch travel speed, electrode condition and shielding gas type and flow rate etc. In traditional work, the structural mathematical models have been used to represent this relationship. Contrary to the traditional model method, neural network models are based on non-parametric modeling techniques. For the welding process modeling, the non-linearity at well as the coupled input characteristics makes it apparent that the neural network is probably the most suitable candidate for this task. Finally, a suitable proposal to improve the construction of the model has also been presented in the paper.

$CF_4$ abatement technique with 3 phase AC plasma torch (삼상 교류 플라즈마 토치를 이용한 $CF_4$분해기술)

  • 본 논문에서는 반도체 제조공정에서 발생하는 $CF_4$의 분해와 제거를 위하여 3상 교류 플라즈마 토치를 제작하고, 플라즈마를 발생시켜 $CF_4$제거 가능성과 이에 따른 문제점에 대해 알아보았다. 매우 강하고 안정한 C-F 결합을 깨고 $CF_4$가스를 분해하기 위해서는 1100[$^{\circ}C$]정도의 고온이 필요한데, 본 실험의 플라즈마 플레임의 경우 $CF_4$가스를 열분해 광분해 시키기에는 충분한 온도와 에너지를 가지고 있다고 사료된다. 하지만 고온의 플라즈마와 토치 내부의 복잡한 유동과 고온의 플라즈마에 의한 전극의 융삭문제는 플라즈마를 연속적으로 발생시켜 $CF_4$가스의 제거효율을 높이기 위해서는 필히 개선해야 할 문제점인 것으로 사료된다.

  • Urgency of using plasma-energy technologies in power industry, is outlined, increasing of economical efficiency, decreasing of energy consumption and decreasing of environmental pollution, are shown, scientific and technical bases for plasma-energy technologies of fuel utilisation, are designed, results of theoretical, experimental and rig investigations of processes of plasma ignition, gasification, thermochemical preparation for burning and combined processing of coals, are presented, results of realisation of plasma technologies of residual-oil-free (mazout) pulverised-coal boiler kindling, lighting of torch and stabilisation of luid slagging in furnaces with removal of fluid slag, are described.

  • This paper describes for applications of neural networks in the field of arc welding. Conventional, automated process generally involves sophisticated sensing and control techniques applied to various processing parameters. Welding parameters affecting quality include the arc voltage, the welding current and the torch travel speed. The relationship between the welding parameters and weld qualify is not a direct one, and in addition, the effect of the weld parameter variables are not independent of the each other - changing the welding current will affect the arc voltage, and so on. Finally, a suitable proposal to improve the construction of the model has also been presented in the paper.
