Detection Performance and THD Analysis of Active Frequency Drift for Anti-Islanding (단독운전 방지를 위한 능동적 주파수 변환 기법의 검출 성능 및 THD 분석)

  • Islanding is a phenomenon that EPS(Electric Power System) is continuously energized by PV PCS(Photovoltaic Power Conditioning System) even when EPS is isolated from the grid. Unintentional islanding will result in safety hazard, power quality degradation and many other issues. So, islanding protection of grid-connected PV PCS is a key function for standards compliance. Nowadays, many anti-islanding schemes are researched. But existing anti-islanding schemes used in PV PCS have power quality degradation and non-detection zone issues. This paper analyses not only detection performance of existed anti-islanding schemes using active frequency drift but also THD of PCS output current according to each value disturbance for anti-islanding. In addition, the lowest value of disturbance in each scheme was tabulated under guarantee of anti-islanding condition.

Optimized Low-Switching-Loss PWM and Neutral-Point Balance Control Strategy of Three-Level NPC Inverters

  • Power loss reduction and total harmonic distortion(THD) minimization are two important goals of improving three-level inverters. In this paper, an optimized pulse width modulation (PWM) strategy that can reduce switching losses and balance the neutral point with an optional THD of three-level neutral-point-clamped inverters is proposed. An analysis of the two-level discontinuous PWM (DPWM) strategy indicates that the optimal goal of the proposed PWM strategy is to reduce switching losses to a minimum without increasing the THD compared to that of traditional SVPWMs. Thus, the analysis of the two-level DPWM strategy is introduced. Through the rational allocation of the zero vector, only two-phase switching devices are active in each sector, and their switching losses can be reduced by one-third compared with those of traditional PWM strategies. A detailed analysis of the impact of small vectors, which correspond to different zero vectors, on the neutral-point potential is conducted, and a hysteresis control method is proposed to balance the neutral point. This method is simple, does not judge the direction of midpoint currents, and can adjust the switching times of devices and the fluctuation of the neutral-point potential by changing the hysteresis loop width. Simulation and experimental results prove the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed strategy.

  • There are various environmental conditions under which ship may navigate over ocean or in harbor. Ship's torque and speed change frequently under the voyage conditions. In this case, harmonics is created in the electrical power systems. The major adverse impacts of voltage and current harmonics in the electrical power systems on generator, transformer, converter, inverter and propulsion motor lead to the increase of machine heating caused by iron and copper losses which are dependent on frequency. In this paper, an analysis of THD(total harmonic distortion) for currents and voltages in the propulsion equipment was carried out. The THD and torque ripple in the input currents of the propulsion motor have been confirmed by the simulation results.

  • Recently, due to the expansion of electric power demands, nonlinear load such as converters and inverters connected to the electric power distribution system, and extensive application of harmonic generation sources with power electric devices, disturbance of the electric power system and its influences on industries have been continuously increasing. In this research, power quality was analyzed for 11 extra-high voltage customers by considering voltage unbalance condition, power factor, THD and TDD. This research will be utilized as fundamental data to improve power quality for power utility.

  • This paper presents an operating characteristics of the 5-phase 5kW with developed the surface permanent magnetic synchronous generato (SPMSG) in order to make a study of a polyphase ac motors keeping hold of more advantages. There are shown a amplitude and waveform of the generated electromotive force, in FFT analysis of harmonics, within output voltages, and reviewing a experiment results in no-load test, resistive load, and inductive load using 5-phase induction motor by variable output frequency. The operating characteristics of the developed manufacturing generator include voltage regulation, efficiency, power factor, THD, and so on at rated load.

  • In this paper, rotor design modification of a novel proposed machine termed the Axial Flux Doubly Fed Reluctance Machine (AF-BDFRM) is studied. The main potential advantage of AF-BDFRM is that it has larger torque and power density compared to radial flux-BDFRM. However, with the general rotor pole shape, this machine output back EMF has high THD % and high cogging torque. This paper studies the rotor design modification in the proposed AF-BDFRM to reduce the THD % in inducedd back EMF and cogging torque. Also the transient 3D finite element analysis (FEA) optimization of initial design is presented.

  • 멀티 레벨 인버터는 고 전력 시스템에서 많이 사용되고 있다. 일반적으로 멀티 레벨 인버터는 캐스케이드와 NPC(Nuetral Point clamped) 두 가지 회로 방식이 있다. 동일한 시스템 조건에서 두 인버터를 비교하여 어느 한 인버터의 특성이 좋은가를 분석하기 위해 동일 조건하에 인버터 구조에 따라서 회로방식이 THD에 어떠한 영향을 주는지에 대해서 시뮬레이션을 통하여 살펴보고, FMI(Fundamental Modulation Index, 기본파 변조 지수)에 따라 두 회로 방식에 대한 THD 변화를 레벨 수에 따라 분석하고자 한다. 인버터에 사용되는 PWM 방식으로는 멀티 캐리어 PWM을 사용하였다.

  • 본 논문은 고전력 응용에 적합한 3상 멀티레벨 AC/DC컨버터의 THD를 분석하였다 회로는 일반 적인 NPC (Neutral Point Clamped)컨버터 타입을 채택하였고, 3레벨과 5레벨의 레벨수 증가에 따른 고조파를 분석하여 THD를 해석하였다. 공간벡터 PWM은 레벨이 증가할수록 벡터 공간도 증가하므로 영역판별이 어렵다는 단점이 있어 멀티 캐리어 PWM 방법을 사용하여 시스템을 분석하였다.

  • 본 논문은 최근 3년간 강원 영서 지역에서 실측한 전원의 고조파 함유량을 토대로 전압 고조파, 중성선 전류 고조파 및 고조파로 인한 역율 저하를 분석하였다. 전압 고조파의 종합 왜형율(THD)은 순시 측정시 적합율 88.5%, 24시간 측정시 42.9%로 나타났으며, 중성선 전류의 종합 왜형율은 1,000%를 상회하는 장소가 20%를 차지하고 있어 심각한 문제점들이 발생될 수 있음을 알았다. 또한, 종합 고조파 왜형율의 증가로 인한 역율 저하는 평균 2%정도 발생되었다.

  • Wireless home theater and speaker system was designed. That has 20W output per channel, 0.1% THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and automatic algorithm avoiding noise. The 3D stereophonic sound was realized through the wireless 5.1channel speaker system designed. That could be secured 0.4% improvement effect of THD compared with wire speaker systems. Specially in transfer sound with wireless, Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum was superior than Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum in household electric appliances and wireless internet environment that radiated noise similar with ISM Band using 2.4GHz.
