Conducting polyaniline-poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) polymer composites were synthesized via in situ deposition techniques. By dissolving different weight percentages of poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) (PCL) (10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%), the oxidative polymerization of aniline was achieved using ammonium persulfate as an oxidant. FTIR, UV-vis spectra, and X-ray diffraction studies support a strong interaction between polyaniline (PANI) and PCL. Structural morphology of the PANI-PCL polymer composites was studied using scanned electron microscopy (SEM) and transmittance electron microscopy (TEM), and thermal stability was analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) technique. The temperature-dependent DC conductivity of PANI-PCL polymer composite films was studied in the range of 305-475 K, which revealed a semiconducting behavior in the transport properties of the polymer films. Conductivity increased with the increase of PCL in below critical level, however conductivity of the polymer film was decreased with increase of PCL concentration higher than the critical value.

Single crystals of lithium potassium phthalate (LiKP) were successfully grown from aqueous solution by solvent evaporation technique. The grown crystals were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The lithium potassium phthalate $C_{16}\;H_{12}\;K\;Li_3\;O_{11}$ belongs to triclinic system with the following unit-cell dimensions at 298(2) K;$a=7.405(5){\AA}$;$b=9.878(5){\AA}$;$c=13.396(5){\AA}$;${\alpha}=71.778(5)^{\circ}$;${\beta}=87.300(5)^{\circ}$;${\gamma}=85.405(5)^{\circ}$; having a space group P1. Mass spectrometric analysis provides the molecular weight of the compound and possible ways of fragmentations occurs in the compound. Thermal stability of the crystal was also studied by both simultaneous TGA/DTA analyses. The UV-Vis-NIR spectrum shows a good transparency in the whole of Visible and as well as in the near IR range. Third order nonlinear optical studies have also been studied by Z-scan technique. Nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refractive index were found out and the third order bulk susceptibility of compound was also estimated. The results have been discussed in detail.
Melt copolymerization reactions of several bis(diethylamino)silane derivatives, bis(diethylamino)methylphenylsilane, bis(diethylamino)methyloctylsilane, 1,2-bis(diethylamino)tetramethyldisilane, and 1,3-bis(diethylamino) tetramethyldisiloxane, with 2,7-dihydroxyfluoren-9-one were carried out to yield poly[oxy(2,7-fluoren- 9-onenylene)oxy(diorganosilylene)]s bearing the fluoren-9-one fluorescent aromatic group in the polymer main chain: poly[oxy(2,7-fluoren-9-onenylene)oxy(methylphenylsilylene)], poly[oxy(2,7-fluoren-9-onenylene) oxy(methyloctylsilylene)], poly[oxy(2,7-fluoren-9-onenylene)oxy(tetramethyldisilylene)], and poly[oxy- (2,7-fluoren-9-onenylene)oxy(tetramethyldisiloxanylene)]. These polymeric materials are soluble in common organic solvents such as $CHCl_3$ and THF. FTIR spectra of all the materials reveal characteristic Si-O-C stretching frequencies at 1012-1018 $cm^{-1}$. In the THF solution, the prepared materials show strong maximum absorption peaks at 258-270 nm, strong maximum excitation peaks at 260-280 nm, and strong maximum fluorescence emission bands at 310-420 nm. TGA thermograms suggest that most of the polymers are essentially stable to $200^{\circ}C$ without any weight loss and up to $300^{\circ}C$ with only a weight loss of less than 5% in nitrogen.

A new precursor [$Zr(acac)_{3}(H_{2}O)_{2}$] was synthesized by Sonochemical technique and used to deposit thin $ZrO_{2}$ film on quartz and ceramic substrate via ultrasonic aerosol assisted chemical vapour deposition (UAACVD) at 300 ${^{\circ}C}$ in oxygen environment followed by annealing of the sample for 2-3 minutes at 500 ${^{\circ}C}$ in nitrogen ambient. The molecular structure of the precursor determined by single crystal X-ray analysis revealed that the molecules are linked through intermolecular hydrogen bonds forming pseudo six and eight membered rings. DSC and TGA/FTIR techniques were used to determine thermal behavior and decomposition temperature of the precursor and nature of evolved gas products. The optical measurement of annealed $ZrO_{2}$ film with tetragonal phase shows optical energy band gap of 5.01 eV. The particle size, morphology, surface structure and composition of deposited films were investigated by XRD, SEM and EDX.

Polyelectrolyte complex films were prepared with two compounds, chitosan and poly(ethylene glycol)-monosuccinate, using a casting in order to synthesize a polyelectrolyte complex film with various mole ratios of chitosan and poly(ethylene glycol)-monosuccinate. The solution properties of isolated PEC were investigated for the effects of FTIR, pH value, Brookfield viscosity and cell viability assay using MTT staining. The PEC films were evaluated for mechanical properties by typical stress-strain curve, far thermal properties by DSC and TGA and for surface morphology Properties by SEM. Furthermore, the surface resistance, moisture regain and water content of the films were characterized. The solution properties were affected by several factors including the chitosan content in the PEC, the mixing ratio of PEG and chitosan, and pH. Several PEC in acidic conditions exhibited film formation under appropriate conditions of mixing ratio and chitosan concentration in the mixing process. These PEC films were found to have sufficiently flexible and stable properties due to their hydrophilic structure, which was farmed by the oppositely charged interaction between PEG-MS and chitosan matrix. The results showed the potential applicability of chitosan and poly(ethylene glycol)-monosuccinate films as a biocompatible polymer.
The boron-nitrogen-containing phenol-formaldehyde resin (BNPFR)/$SiO_2$ nanocomposites (BNPFR/$SiO_2$) were synthesized in-situ, and structure of BNPFR/$SiO_2$ nanocomposites was characterized by FTIR, XRD and TEM. The loss modulus peak temperature $T_p$ of BNPFR/$SiO_2$ nanocomposites cured with different nano-$SiO_2$ content are determined by torsional braid analysis (TBA). The thermal degradation kinetics was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results show that nano-$SiO_2$ particulate with about 50 nm diameter has a more uniformly distribution in the samples. The loss modulus peak temperature $T_p$ of BNPFR/$SiO_2$ nanocomposite is $214^{\circ}C$ when nano-$SiO_2$ content is 6 wt%. The start thermal degradation temperature $T_{di}$ is higher about $30^{\circ}C$ than pure BNPFR. The residual rate (%) of nanocomposites at $800^{\circ}C$ is above 40 % when nano-$SiO_2$ content is 9 %. The thermal degradation process is multistage decomposition and following first order.

In this work, silver nitrate complexes of sulfanilamide-5-methyl-2-thiophene carboxaldehyde (SMTCA) ligand intercalated Zn/Al-layered double hydroxide [Ag-SMTCA-LDH] were synthesized for the potential application as an antimicrobial system. The SMTCA ligand was synthesized by reacting sulfanilamide and 5-methyl-2-thiophene carboxaldehyde in methanol and further complexation with silver nitrate metal ions [Ag-SMTCA]. The structural analyses of synthesized compounds confirmed an intercalation of Ag-SMTCA into Zn/Al-NO3-LDH by flake/restacking method. SMTCA, Ag-SMTCA and Ag-SMTCA-LDH were characterized by 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). It was found that Ag-SMTCA-LDH exhibited good antimicrobial activity against both gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis, [B. subtilis], Staphylococcus aures, [S. aureus]) and gram-negative (Escherichia coli, [E. coli], Pseudomonas aeruginosa [P. aeroginosa]) bacteria as well as excellent antioxidant activity.

α-mangostin imprinted polymers have been synthesized by a non-covalent imprinting approach with α-mangostin as a template molecule. The α-mangostin molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) prepared by radical polymerization using methacrylic acid, ethlylene glycol dimethacrylate, benzoyl peroxide, and acetonitrile, as a monomer, crosslinker, initiator, and porogen, respectively. The template was removed by using methanol:acetic acid 90:10 (v/v). The physical characteristics of the polymers were investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The rebinding studies were carried out by batch methods. The results exhibited that the MIPs was able to adsorb the α-mangostin at pH 2 and the contact time of 180 min. The kinetic adsorption data of α-mangostin performed the pseudo-second order model and followed the Langmuir isotherm model with the adsorption capacity of 16.19 mg·g-1. MIPs applied as a sorbent material in solid-phase extraction, namely molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) and it shows the ability for enrichment and clean-up of α-mangostin from the complex matrix in medicinal herbal product and crude extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) pericarp. Both samples, respectively, which were spiked with α-mangostin gives recovery more than 90% after through by MISPE in all concentration ranges.
Graphene doped zinc oxide nanoparticles (G-ZnO) were prepared using modified hummer's technique together with the ultrasonic method and characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). Different samples of epoxy resin nanocomposites reinforced with G-ZnO nanoparticles were prepared and were marked as F1 (without adding nanoparticles), F2 (1% w/w G-ZnO), and F3 (2% w/w G-ZnO) in combination of ≈ 56:18:18:8w/w% with epoxy resin/hardener, ammonium polyphosphate, boric acid, and Chitosan. The peak heat release rate (PHRR) of the epoxy nanocomposites was observed to decrease dramatically with the increasing G-ZnO nanoparticles. However, the LOI values increased significantly with the increase in wt % of G-ZnO nanoparticles. From the UL-94V data, it was confirmed that the F2 and F3 samples passed the flame test and were rated as V-0. The results obtained in the present work clearly revealed that the synthesized samples can be used as efficient materials in fire-retardant coating technology.
Magnetic biochar produced from pyrolysis of dairy cattle manure was used to develop an effective sorbent for arsenic purification from aqueous solution. Biomass and magnetized biomass were pyrolyzed in a tube furnace with 10 ℃/min heating rate at 450 ℃ under nitrogen flow of 100 cm3/min for 2 h. Biochars were characterized by SEM-EDX, BET, XDR, FTIR, TGA, zeta potential analysis. The resultant biochar and magnetic biochar were opposed to 50-100-500 ppm As(V) laden aqueous solution. Adsorption experiments were performed by using ASTM 4646-03 batch method. The effects of concentration, pH, temperature and stirring rate on adsorption were evaluated. As(V) was successfully removed from aqueous solution by magnetic biochar due to its highly porous structure, high aromaticity and polarity. The results suggest dairy cattle manure pyrolysis is a promising route for managing animal manure and producing a cost effective biosorbent for efficient immobilization of arsenic in aqueous solutions.
