Regulatory Mechanism of Vascular Contractility by Extracellular $\textrm{K}^{+}$: Effect on Endothelium-Dependent Relaxation and Vascular Smooth Muscle Contractility (세포 외 $\textrm{K}^{+}$의한 혈관 수축신 조절 기전: 혈관평활근 수축성과 내피세포 의존성 이완에 미치는 영향)

  • Extracellular $K^{+}$ concentration ([ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ ) can be increased within several mM by the efflux of intracellular $K^{+}$. To investigate the effect of an increase in [ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ on vascular contractility, we attempted to examine whether extracellular $K^{+}$ might modulate vascular contractility, endothelium-dependent relaxation (EDR) and intracellular $Ca^2$$^{+}$ concentration ([C $a^2$$^{+}$]$_{i}$ ) in endothelial cells (EC). We observed isometric contractions in rabbit carotid, superior mesenteric, basilar arteries and movse aorta. [C $a^2$$^{+}$]$_{i}$ was recorded by microfluorimeter using Fura-2/AM in EC. No change in contractility was recorded by the increase in [ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ from 6 to 12 mM in conduit artery such as rabbit carotid artery. whereas resistant vessels, such as basilar and branches of superior mesenteric arteries (SMA), were relaxed by the increase. In basilar artery, the relaxation by the increase in [ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ to from 1 to 3 mM was bigger than that by the increase from 6 to 12 mM. In contrast, in branches of SMA, the relaxation by the increase in [ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ to from 6 to 12 mM is bigger than that by the increase from 1 to 3 mM. $Ba^2$$^{+}$ (30 $\mu$M) did not inhibit the relaxation by the increase in [ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ from 1 to 3 mM but did inhibit the relaxation by the increase from 6 to 12 mM. In the mouse aorta without the endothelium or treated with $N^{G}$_nitro-L-arginine (30 $\mu$M), nitric oxide synthesis blocker, the increase in [ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ from 6 to 12 mM did not change the magnitude of contraction induced either norepinephrine or prostaglandin $F_2$$_{\alpha}$. The increase in [ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ up to 12 mM did not induce contraction of mouse aorta but the increase more than 12 mM induced contraction. In the mouse aorta, EDR was completely inhibited on increasing [ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ from 6 to 12 mM. In cultured mouse aorta EC, [C $a^2$$^{+}$]$_{i}$ , was increased by acetylcholine or ATP application and the increased [C $a^2$$^{+}$]$_{i}$ , was reduced by the increase in [ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ reversibly and concentration-dependently. In human umbilical vein EC, similar effect of extracellular $K^{+}$ was observed. Ouabain, a N $a^{+}$ - $K^{+}$ pump blocker, and N $i^2$$^{+}$, a N $a^{+}$ - $Ca^2$$^{+}$ exchanger blocker, reversed the inhibitory effect of extracellular $K^{+}$. In resistant arteries, the increase in [ $K^{+}$]$_{0}$ relaxes vascular smooth muscle and the underlying mechanisms differ according to the kinds of the arteries; $Ba^2$$^{+}$-insensitive mechanism in basilar artery and $Ba^2$$^{+}$ -sensitive one in branches of SMA. It also inhibits [C $a^2$$^{+}$]$_{i}$ , increase in EC and thereby EDR. The initial mechanism of the inhibition may be due to the activation of N $a^{+}$ - $K^{+}$pump. activation of N $a^{+}$ - $K^{+}$pump.p.p.p.

A Study on the Properties of $Al_2$ $O_3$ and $Al_2$ $O_3$/( $Ti_{0.5}$ $Al_{0.5}$)N Coatings Produced by Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (플라즈마 화학 증착법에 의한 $Al_2$ $O_3$ 단층피막과 $Al_2$ $O_3$/( $Ti_{0.5}$ $Al_{0.5}$)N 이중피막의 제조 및 특성에 관한 연구)

  • $Al_2$$O_3$ coatings were deposited on M2 high speed steels by the plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) process, using a gas mixture of AlC1$_3$, $H_2$, $CO_2$ and Ar $Al_2$$O_3$ coatings had interference color and showed amorphous phase. $A1_2$X$A1_3$/($Ti_{0.5}$ /$Al_{0.5}$ )N double layer coatings were produced in the sequence of substrate $NH_3$ plasma pretreatment, ($Ti_{0.5}$$Al_{0.5}$)N depoition process, $Al_2$$O_3$ deposition process. $Al_2$ $O_3$/( $Ti_{0.5}$A $l_{0.5}$)N double layer coatings showed NaCl structure in ( $Ti_{0.5}$A $l_{0.5}$)N layer and amorphous phase in A1$_2$ $O_3$ layer. It was shown that $Al_2$ $O_3$ columns continuously grew onto ( $Ti_{0.5}$A $l_{0.5}$)N columns. ( $Ti_{0.5}$A $l_{0.5}$)N single coating and $Al_2$ $O_3$/( $Ti_{0.5}$A $l_{0.5}$)N double layer coating were oxidized at $700^{\circ}C$, 80$0^{\circ}C$, 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 1hr, 3hr in atmosphere. At 80$0^{\circ}C$, single layer coatings were oxidized, which were examined substrate oxide particle. But $Al_2$ $O_3$/ ( $Ti_{0.5}$A $l_{0.5}$)N double layer coatings maintained the asdeposited state. Therefore, $Al_2$ $O_3$/ ( $Ti_{0.5}$A $l_{0.5}$)N double layer coatings have moreexcellent oxidation resistance than ( $Ti_{0.5}$A $l_{0.5}$)N single layer coatings.X> 0.5/)N single layer coatings.s.

  • In this paper, the structure, dieletric and piezoelectric properties of Pb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$/Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}}$$O_3$+ Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$system ceramics were investigated and the effects of donor Nb$^{+5}$ on these properties were characterized for the application of the actuator. In xPb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}}$)O$_3$+ (1-x) Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$system ceramics, tetragonality decreased as x and Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ wt% were increased. In 0.05Pb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}$}$)O$_3$+ 0.95 Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$system, grain size was smallest but showed best dielectric and piezoelectric properties. The specimen sintered at 120$0^{\circ}C$ in 0.05pb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}}$ )O$_3$+ 0.95 Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$+ Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ 0.6wt% exihibited best piezoeletric properties such as $K^{p}$ =64%, d$_{33}$ =490 [$\times$10$^{-12}$ C/N] and strain was 1320[$\times$10$^{-6}$ Δ$\ell$/$\ell$]at AC 6kV/cm

  • The propagation constant, which is defined for a double-positive (DPS) material of positive permittivity (${\varepsilon}'$) and permeability (${\mu}'$), is extended and derived for an epsilon-negative (ENG) material (${\varepsilon}'<0,\;{\mu}'>0$), a mu-negative (MNG) material (${\varepsilon}'>0,\;{\mu}'<0$), and a double-negative (DNG) material (${\varepsilon}'<0,\;{\mu}'<0$). By investigating how the permittivity loss (${\varepsilon}"$) and permeability loss (${\mu}"$) terms affect the propagation constant, we determine that the wave in the materials propagates as a right-handed (RH) triad or a left-handed (LH) triad. Regardless of the magnitudes of ${\varepsilon}"$ and ${\mu}"$, DPS and DNG materials become RH and LH media, respectively. However, ENG and MNG materials possess unusual characteristics that both materials become a RH medium when the sign of (${\varepsilon}'{\mu}"+{\varepsilon}"{\mu}'$) is positive and they become a LH medium when the sign is negative.

  • Calcium Silicate의 생성 및 분해에 미치는 $K_2SO_4$$MgSO_4$의 영향을 비교 검토하였으며 Calcium Silicate의 생성을 최대로 하는 $SO_3$, MgO와 $K_2O$의 최적비를 반응표면분석기법으로 조사하였다. $K_2SO_4$의 혼합비 증감에 따라 $C_3S$의 생성촉진에 미치는 영향은 없었다. $C_3S$의 조합원료에 $CaSO_4$를 4.0wt$\%$이상 첨가시 $CaSO_4$$C_2S$주위에 Sulphate reaction rim을 형성함으로써 $C_2S$와 CaO의 반응을 방해해 $C_3S$의 생성을 억제하였으나 적당량의 MgO가 첨가되면 $CaSO_4$가 4.0wt$/%$이상이라도 $C_3S$의 생성은 억제되지 않았다. $C_3S$의 생성을 최대로 하기 위한 $SO_3$, MgO와 $K_2O$의 최적비를 반응표면분석기법을 이용하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. $K_2SO_4$$K_2O$에 비해 소결에 미치는 영향이 적으므로 크링카에 고용되고 남은 $K_2O$는 전량 $K_2SO_4$로 전환시켜야한다. 2. $SO_3$$K_2O$의 최적비율은 1.5이다. 3. $CaSO_4$와 MgO의 최적비율을 유지하기 위해서는 $CaSO_4$중의 wt$\%SO_3$=0.7의 수준으로 Sulphate의 함량을 조절하여야 한다. 4. $SO_3$와 결합하고 남은 $K_2O$가 0wt$\%$인 경우는 $K_2SO_4$=2.3wt$\%$, MgO=1.5wt$\%$일때 $C_3S$의 생성이 최대로 된다. 5. $SO_3$와 결합하고 남은 $K_2O$가 2.0wt$\%$인 경우는 $K_2$$SO_4$=4.5wt$\%$, MgO=3.0wt$\%$일때 $C_3S$의 생성이 최대로 된다.

  • The piezoelectric properties and the doping effect of N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ and Mn $O_2$for 0.95PbZ $r_{x}$ $Ti_{x}$ $O_3$+0.05Pb(M $n_{0.42}$ $W_{0.26}$S $b_{0.32}$) $O_3$ compositions have been investigated. In the composition of 0.95PbZ $r_{0.54}$ $Ti_{0.46}$ $O_3$+0.05Pb(M $n_{0.42}$ $W_{0.26}$S $b_{0.32}$) $O_3$the Values Of $k_{p}$ find and $\varepsilon$$_{33}$ $^{T}$ are maximized, but $Q_{m}$ Was minimized ( $k_{p}$ =0.51, $Q_{m}$ =1750). The grain size was suppressed and the uniformity of grain was improved with doping concentration of N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ for 0.95PbZ $r_{0.54}$ $Ti_{0.46}$ $O_3$+0.005Pb(M $n_{0.42}$ $W_{0.26}$S $b_{0.32}$) $O_3$sample. The values of $k_{p}$ increased and the values of $Q_{m}$ slightly decreased when 0.5 wt% of N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ is doped. And the values of $k_{p}$ was the same formation of the N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ dopant when 0.5 wt% of M $n_2$ $O_{5}$ is doped. But the values of $Q_{m}$ was deeply decreased when 0.5 wt% of Mn $O_2$is doped. As a experiment results under high electric field driving, this piezoelectric ceramics are very stable. Conclusively, piezoelectric ceramic compsiton investigated at this paper is suitable for application to high power piezoelectric devices.. devices..ices.. devices..

Reductive degradation of Chlorinated compounds by using Iron Minerals (철 광물에 의한 염소계 유기화합물의 환원적분해)

  • Chlorinated and nitroaromatic compounds are non-degradable substances that are extremely toxic and are known to be carcinogens and mutation causing agents. Moreover, the half-lives of substances such as carbon tetrachloride, hexachloroethane and nitroaromatic compounds are several decades. In this study, the optimal conditions to detoxify chlorinated compounds by the reductive degradation were investigated. The following results were obtained in the reductive degradation of CCl$_4$, C$_2$Cl$\_$6/, C$_2$HCl$\_$5/, C$_2$Cl$_4$, and C$_2$HCl$\_$5/ by using Fe, FeS and FeS$_2$ as mediators. CCl$_4$ was reduced to CH$_2$Cl$_3$ and CH$_2$Cl$_2$in anaerobic conditions when FeS was used as a mediator. While the reduction of CCl$_4$ to CHCl$_3$ was rapidly proceeded, the reduction of CHCl$_3$ to CH$_2$Cl$_2$ was occurred slowly. Further reduction to CH$_3$Cl was not observed. Unlike CCl$_4$, C$_2$Cl$\_$6/ was degraded to C$_2$HCl$\_$5/, C$_2$Cl$_4$. C$_2$HCl$_3$ and cis-1,2-C$_2$H$_2$Cl$_2$ by complicated pathways such as hydrogenolysis, dehalo-elimination and dehydrohalogenation. A small amount of C$_2$HCl$\_$5/ was detected only in the early stages of the reduction. However, majority of the C$_2$Cl$\_$6/ was reduced to C$_2$Cl$_4$. cis-1,2-C$_2$H$_2$C1$_2$ was the only product among other possible isomers.

Application of Universal Scaled Reduced Temperature Parameter to the Three-Arm Star Polystyrene (세팔 별모양 폴리스타이렌 사슬의 팽창에 대한 만능 환산 온도 파라미터의 적용)

  • Various chain sizes 3-arm star polystyrenes (PS, $M_{w}$=2.80$\times$10$^{5}$ , 2.49$\times$10$^{6}$ g/mol) in t-decalin solution were measured at the temperature range of 20~7$0^{\circ}C$ by means of viscometry and laser light scattering. In order to show universality in the expansion factor of 3-arm star polymer, it was expected that (N/ $R_{G,Br,o}$$^{2}$)$^{3}$2/$\tau$/$\tau$$_{C}$ would be used as an universal parameter, where $R_{G,Br,o}$ was the unperturbed radius of gyration of star PS. However, much better universality had been observed when (N/ $R_{G,Br,o}$$^{2}$)$^{3}$2/$\tau$/$\tau$$_{C}$ parameter of the linear PS was used even for the 3-arm star PS. It could be explained if branching effect had been already taken into account in the part of $\tau$/$\tau$$_{C}$(=[(Τ-Θ$_{Tc}$ )/Θ$_{Tc}$ ]/[(Θ$_{Tc}$$_{c}$)/ $T_{c}$]). Here N and Θ$_{Tc}$ stand for the number of monomer unit in a single polymer chain and a kind of theta temperature as the critical solution temperature $T_{c}$ of the infinite molecular weight, respectively.ely.y.ely.

Compositions and Characteristics of Atmospheric Aerosols Collected at the 1100 Site in Mt. Halla, Jeiu (제주도 한라산 1100 고지 대기 에어로졸의 조성 및 특성)

  • The atmospheric aerosols collected at the 1100 site located in Mt. Halla have been analyzed to investigate their compositions and chemical characteristics . The average concentrations of water-soluble cations were in the order of N $H_{4}$$^{+}$ > $Ca^{2+}$ > N $a^{+}$ > $K^{+}$ > $Mg^{2+}$ during the spring, showing high increase of $Ca^{2+}$ concentration with the value of 0.60 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ $m^3$, and N $H_{4}$$^{+}$> N $a^{+}$> $K^{+}$> $Ca^{2+}$ > $Mg^{2+}$ during the other seasons. The average concentrations of anions have shown in the order of S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$ > N $O_{3}$$^{[-10]}$ >C $l^{[-10]}$ for all seasons, and S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$ and N $O_{3}$$^{[-10]}$ had higher concentrations in spring with the values of 4.84 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ $m^3$ and 1.08 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ $m^3$, respectively. From the analytical data of size-segregated particles by cascade impactor sampling, the components of N $H_{4}$$^{+}$, S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$, N $O_{3}$$^{[-10]}$ and $K^{+}$ were distributed mainly in fine particles, but $Ca^{2+}$, N $a^{+}$, $Mg^{2+}$ and C $l^{[-10]}$ were included mostly in coarse particles. The correlation coefficients of nss-S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$/N $H_{4}$$^{+}$, nss-S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$/ $K^{+}$ and N $O_{3}$$^{[-10]}$ /nss-C $a^{2+}$ showed quite high values with 0.871, 0.857 and 0.654, respectively Based on the study of enrichment factors, it is considered that N $a^{+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, C $l^{[-10]}$ and $Ca^{2+}$ components were delivered from oceanic and soil sources, but S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$, N $O_{3}$$^{[-10]}$ and N $H_{4}$$^{+}$ might have other source origins. The factor analysis study showed the aerosol at the 1100 site was influenced mainly by anthropogenic factors, followed by oceanic and soil factors. followed by oceanic and soil factors.
