Detection of Anthracnose Fungus Colletotrichum circinans by Conventional PCR and Real-time PCR (일반 PCR과 Real-time PCR을 이용한 탄저병균 Colletotrichum circinans 검출)

  • Colletotrichum circinans, an anthracnose pathogen, causes serious damage to onions worldwide. In this study, specific molecular markers were developed to detect C. circinans accurately and quickly with both conventional and real-time PCR methods. The cirTef-F/cirTef-R and cirTu-F/cirTu-R primer sets, which are specific for C. circinans, were constructed by analyzing $tef-1{\alpha}$ and ${\beta}-tubulin$ genes in the fungus. Using the conventional PCR method, 100 pg and 1 ng of fungal DNA could be detected using the cirTef-F/cirTef-R and cirTu-F/cirTu-R sets, respectively. Using the real-time PCR method, 10 pg and 100 pg of fungal DNA could be detected more sensitively with the cirTef-F/cirTef-R and cirTu-F/cirTu-R sets, respectively. Detection of C. circinans from the artificially infected onion seeds was possible by using both conventional and real-time PCR methods and the developed cirTef-F/cirTef-R primer set. The PCR markers specific for C. circinans developed in this study may enhance the efficiency of fungal pathogen detection in imported vegetables and seeds.

Associated Anomaly of Esophageal Atresia (선천성 식도폐쇄 환아의 동반기형)

  • This study was aimed to evaluate associated congenital anomalies in the patients with esophageal atresia with tracheoesophageal fistula (EA/TEF). Forty-two neonates with the diagnosis of EA/TEF treated over a 10 year period in a single institution were included in this study. The demography of EA/TEF was analyzed. Major associated anomalies including vertebral, anal, cardiac, renal, limb, neurologic and chromosome were reviewed and categorized. Males were slightly more dominant than females (1.47:1) and all patients had Gross type C EA/TEF. Only 19 % of the patients had solitary EA/TEF without associated anomalies. Cardiac anomalies were the most common associated congenital anomaly in patients with EA/TEF (73.8 %). But 47.6 % were cured spontaneously or did not affect patients' life. Atrial septal defect (ASD) was the most common cardiac anomaly followed by patent ductus arterious (PDA) and ventricular septal defect (VSD). Among gastrointestinal anomalies (23.8 %), anorectal malformations were the most frequent, 70 % Vertebral and limb abnormalities accounted for 11.9 % and urogenital malformations 9.5 % of the anomalies in patients with EA/TEF. VACTERL associated anomalies were 23.8 % and 1.8% had full VACTERL. Almost 12 % of EA/TEF had neurologic anomalies. Patients with EA/TEF require preoperative evaluation including neurologic evaluation to detect anomalies not related to VACTERL. Though associated cardiac anomaly occurred in 73.8 % of patients in our study, only 21.42 % needed surgical correction. The authors suggesrs further studies with large numbers of patients with EA/TEF.

A Case Report of Traumatic Tracheoesophageal Fistula (외상성 기관식도루 -수술체험 1례-)

  • Acquired, traumatic tracheoesophageal fistula [TEF] is rare and difficult problem to manage. This 55 years old man met with a roller accident of a tractor. During accident, he received a penetrating injury on the left upper sternal border. At local clinic, he received closed thoracotomy drainage [CTD]for relief of pneumothorax[left]. Three days after CTD, he complained abdominal pain and hematemesis. The endoscopy revealed large ulcer at the stomach, so he received subtotal gastrectomy. On 10th day post subtotal gastrectomy, he developed aspiration and coughing from a TEF. The esophagogram showed large TEF at the mid-trachea level. So he transfered to our hospital for operation. This patient was operated on for late TEF three weeks after injury. We have used absorble 4-0 Vicryl sutures to repair trachea. We repair all esophageal injuries with two layers of nonabsorbable silk suture. Where suture line on the esophagus, the strap muscle was interposed for reinforcement. And for feeding, the feeding jejunostomy was performed. Postoperatively the osteomyelitis of the manubrium site was developed, so on the 30th postoperative day, an ostectomy of manubrium, both clavicle and fight 1st, 2nd ribs, and the pectoralis major musculo-cutaneous flap coverage were performed.

  • Energy conversion to renewable energy is being promoted to solve the recently serious environmental pollution problem. Solar energy is one of the promising natural renewable energy sources. Compared to other energy sources, it is receiving great attention because it has less ecological impact and is sustainable. It is important to predict power generation at a future time in order to maximize the output of solar energy and ensure the stability and variability of power. In this paper, solar power generation data and sensor data were used. Using the PCC(Pearson Correlation Coefficient) analysis method, factors with a large correlation with power generation were derived and applied to the GAM(Generalized Additive Model). And the prediction accuracy of the power generation prediction model was judged. It aims to derive efficient solar power generation in the future and improve power generation performance.

Surgical Treatment Outcomes of Acquired Benign Tracheoesophageal Fistula: A Literature Review

  • Background: Tracheoesophageal fistula (TEFs) is a rare condition that requires complex surgical treatment. We analyzed the surgical outcomes of TEF reported in the literature and at Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital using standardized techniques. Methods: This retrospective study included 8 patients diagnosed with acquired benign TEF between March 2010 and December 2019. The surgical method was determined based on the size of the fistula observed within the endoscope. Results: TEF occurred in 7 patients (87.5%) after intubation or tracheostomy and in 1 patient (12.5%) after esophageal surgery due to conduit necrosis. For tracheal management, 5 and 2 patients underwent tracheal resection and end-to-end anastomosis and primary repair, respectively. The median length of resection was 2.5 cm (range, 1.3-3.4 cm). For esophageal management, 6 patients underwent primary repair and 1 patient underwent esophageal diversion. One patient underwent TEF division with a stapler. Interposition of a muscle flap was performed in 2 patients. TEF recurrence, esophageal stenosis, and dehiscence or granulation occurred in 1, 1, and 2 patients, respectively. A long-term tracheostomy tube or T-tube was used in 2 patients for >2 months. Conclusion: Although TEF surgery is complex and challenging, good results can be achieved if surgical standards are established and experience is accumulated.

A Research for Imputation Method of Photovoltaic Power Missing Data to Apply Time Series Models (태양광 발전량 데이터의 시계열 모델 적용을 위한 결측치 보간 방법 연구)

  • This paper discusses missing data processing using simple moving average (SMA) and kalman filter. Also SMA and kalman predictive value are made a comparative study. Time series analysis is a generally method to deals with time series data in photovoltaic field. Photovoltaic system records data irregularly whenever the power value changes. Irregularly recorded data must be transferred into a consistent format to get accurate results. Missing data results from the process having same intervals. For the reason, it was imputed using SMA and kalman filter. The kalman filter has better performance to observed data than SMA. SMA graph is stepped line graph and kalman filter graph is a smoothing line graph. MAPE of SMA prediction is 0.00737%, MAPE of kalman prediction is 0.00078%. But time complexity of SMA is O(N) and time complexity of kalman filter is O(D2) about D-dimensional object. Accordingly we suggest that you pick the best way considering computational power.

Research on Model to Diagnose Efficiency Reduction of Inverters using Multilayer Perceptron (다층 퍼셉트론을 이용한 인버터의 효율 감소 진단 모델에 관한 연구)

  • This paper studies a model to diagnose efficiency reduction of inverter using Multilayer Perceptron(MLP). In this study, two inverter data which started operation at different day was used. A Multilayer Perceptron model was made to predict photovoltaic power data of the latest inverter. As a result of the model's performance test, the Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE) was 4.1034. The verified model was applied to one-year-old and two-year-old data after old inverter starting operation. The predictive power of one-year-old inverter was larger than the observed power by 724.9243 on average. And two-year-old inverter's predictive value was larger than the observed power by 836.4616 on average. The prediction error of two-year-old inverter rose 111.5572 on a year. This error is 0.4% of the total capacity. It was proved that the error is meaningful difference by t-test. The error is predicted value minus actual value. Which means that PV system actually generated less than prediction. Therefore, increasing error is decreasing conversion efficiency of inverter. Finally, conversion efficiency of the inverter decreased by 0.4% over a year using this model.

A Research of Prediction of Photovoltaic Power using SARIMA Model (SARIMA 모델을 이용한 태양광 발전량 예측연구)

  • In this paper, time series prediction method of photovoltaic power is introduced using seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA). In order to obtain the best fitting model by a time series method in the absence of an environmental sensor, this research was used data below 50% of cloud cover. Three samples were extracted by time intervals from the raw data. After that, the best fitting models were derived from mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) with the minimum akaike information criterion (AIC) or beysian information criterion (BIC). They are SARIMA (1,0,0)(0,2,2)14, SARIMA (1,0,0)(0,2,2)28, SARIMA (2,0,3)(1,2,2)55. Generally parameter of model derived from BIC was lower than AIC. SARIMA (2,0,3)(1,2,2)55, unlike other models, was drawn by AIC. And the performance of models obtained by SARIMA was compared. MAPE value was affected by the seasonal period of the sample. It is estimated that long seasonal period samples include atmosphere irregularity. Consequently using 1 hour or 30 minutes interval sample is able to be helpful for prediction accuracy improvement.

Double Tracheoesophageal Fistula (이중 기관식도루 1예)

  • Esophageal atresia(EA) with a double tracheoesophageal fistula(TEF) is rare. It accounts for only 0.7% of all cases of EA and TEF. A male newborn weighing 2860g was born by normal vaginal delivery at 41 weeks' gestation to a 27-year-old mother who had a normal pregnancy. But immediately developed recurrent choking and respiratory distress. Feeding tube was inserted and chest X ray showed the feeding tube coiled in the proximal pouch(T-2 level). With a preoperative diagnosis of EA and distal TEF, the thoracotomy was performed on the third day of life. At thoracotomy, TEF was proved to be a double fistula. Both fistulas were divided and an esophageal anastomosis was performed. The postoperative course was uncomplicated until the eighth postoperative day when a minor anastomotic leak. The patient was discharged at 103 days of age.

  • Acquired tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) can occur rarely from various causes. Recently, cuff-related tracheal injury after endotracheal intubation with the orotracheal tube and tracheostomy cannula is the most common etiology of nonmalignant TEF. Since cuff-related TEF is usually preventable with proper selection of the cuffed tube and close monitoring of cuff pressure. Although most patients present increased secretions, recurrent pneumonia, or coughing after swallowing, a high index of suspicion is required in patients at risk for developing a TEF. Surgical correction for the defectis required. In most cases, primary closure of the esophageal defect and tracheal resection and end-to-end anastomosis give the best results.
