  • Complications related to the vascular anastomosis of the placental vessels in monochorionic twins are fatal. The clinical syndromes of feto-fetal transfusion include twin anemia polycythemia sequence (TAPS), twin-twin transfusion syndrome, and twin reversed arterial perfusion sequence. We present an extremely rare case of TAPS in a dichorionic diamniotic pregnancy. A 36-year-old woman, gravida 0, para 0, was referred to our hospital with suspected preterm premature membrane rupture. Although her pelvic examination did not reveal specific findings, the non-stress test result showed minimal variability in the first fetus and late deceleration in the second one. An emergency cesarean section was performed. The placenta was fused, and one portion of the placenta was pale, while the other portion was dark red. The hemoglobin level of the first fetus was 7.8 g/dL and that of the second one was 22.2 g/dL.

  • In this paper, we propose two 127-bit LFSR (Linear Feedback Shift Register)-based OTP (One-Time Password) generators. One is a 9-digit decimal OTP generator with thirty taps, while the other is a 12-digit OTP generator with forty taps. The 9-digit OTP generator includes only the positions of Fibonacci numbers to enhance randomness, whereas the 12-digit OTP generator includes the positions of prime numbers and odd numbers. Both proposed OTP generators are implemented on an Arduino module, and randomness evaluations indicate that the generators perform well across six criteria and are straightforward to implement with Arduino.

  • In this paper, the parallel sub-filter searching structure to be adapted that divides a filter into several sub filters and the parameter decision technique to control adaptive parameters with power of received signal in the code acquisition system using adaptive filter are proposed. The numerical results for the system probabilities are derived that the code acquisition system using parallel sub-filter searching structure is statistically analyzed. Also, characteristic of the parameters in adaptive code acquisition system is analyzed by simulations and the parameter decision technique through SNRc estimation is explained. The system with parallel sub-filter searching structure outperforms by 1∼l.5 dB for 16 taps, 5∼6 dB for 64 taps. And the system with parameter decision technique works efficiently with the reasonable degree of degradation about 1 ∼2.5dB for 16 and 32 taps.

  • Recently, some variable length adaptive filters which employ variable lengths taps for the input signal statistics are proposed [1-5]. In this paper, a new subband adaptive filter with variable filter tap length is proposed. The proposed subband variable length adaptive filters can optimize filter length for each subband which can result less computational complexities with respect to the conventional full band adaptive filters. When the signal in the full band has narrow spectrum, the conventional full band adaptive requires very long filter taps, whereas the proposed subband variable filter requires less taps with the spectrum split in subband. The computer simulation results reveals that in many case, in system identification with narrow band system estimation, the proposed adaptive filter has less computational complexities with faster convergence.

  • Objectives: Tobacco control in Indonesia is very lenient compared to international standards. This study explored the perspectives of tobacco control stakeholders (TCSs) on the likelihood of advancing tobacco marketing regulation in Indonesia. Methods: Data were collected from TCSs who were members of the Indonesia Tobacco Control Network group in a modified Delphi study. We collected the data in 2 waves using a questionnaire that comprised a set of closed and open-ended questions. For this paper, we analysed 2 of the 3 sections of the questionnaire: (1) tobacco advertising, promotions, and sponsorship (TAPS) bans, and (2) marketing and retailing regulations. We conducted a descriptive analysis of the scores using Stata/IC.13 and summarised the comments for each item. Results: The TCSs viewed the measures/strategies across all aspects of TAPS and tobacco marketing regulation as highly desirable, but provided varied responses on their feasibility. They rated political feasibility lower than technical feasibility for most measures. Advancing TAPS measures and prohibition of selling to minors were considered more attainable by sub-national governments, while prohibition of tobacco corporate social responsibility was considered as the least feasible measure in the next 5 years. Conclusions: Despite little optimism for substantial national-level change, there is a positive expectation that sub-national governments will strengthen their tobacco control regulation. It is paramount that the government reduce tobacco industry leverage by implementing Article 5.3 of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Extending advocacy networks beyond tobacco control groups and framing tobacco control more effectively are necessary steps.

  • This paper proposes a architecture of the nonlinear echo canceller for the full-duplex transmission, which is easy to implement. The architecture is designed to cancel the nonlinear echo signals due to the hybrid or the data converter, as well as the linear echo signals, by adding a small number of taps to the FIR structure for the linear echo cancellation. The number of tap to be add depends on how much the linear echo signals are cancelled. A computer program for this architecture was written and run. Numerical results of the computer simulations show good performances on cancellations of the nonlinear echo signals by adding a small number of taps.

  • This study is about the modeling and simulation of heat transfer in the box for packaging and shipping of vaccines. Comparison of the simulation results with experimental data revealed that a one-dimensional model (a spherical model of using a radius equivalent to the rectangular geometry of box) showed good agreement with experimental data during cooling process but did not successfully simulate heating process. It is considered that a rigorous boundary condition is not properly applied for outer surface of the box. However, we could successfully develop a basic algorithm for simulating heat transfer through multi-slabs combined with different materials including phase change material.

  • Multipath Rayleigh fading channels for mobile radio transmission can be represented by the linear filter model, and depending on the delay path characteristics, only a selected number of taps may have significance in the receiver structure design. By using tap-selective equalization, reduction in both processing complexity and power consumption can be obtained. In this paper, we present an optimal tap selection method for a given channel model, and demonstrate the performance improvement over an existing method. We show the method performs the CFAR (Constant False Alarm Rate) detection when the noise power information is available, and derive exact expressions of the error probability for the case of noise power estimation. Using the derived formulas and simulation results, it is demonstrated that the error probability quickly approaches to the optimal performance as the number samples used for the noise power estimation increases.

  • Synchronous wind-induced pressures, measured in wind-tunnel tests on model buildings instrumented with hundreds of pressure taps, are an invaluable resource for designing safe buildings efficiently. They enable a much more detailed, accurate representation of the forces and moments that drive engineering design than conventional tables and graphs do. However, the very large volumes of data that such tests typically generate pose a challenge to their widespread use in practice. This paper explains how a wavelet representation for the time series of pressure measurements acquired at each tap can be used to compress the data drastically while preserving those features that are most influential for design, and also how it enables incremental data transmission, adaptable to the accuracy needs of each particular application. The loss incurred in such compression is tunable and known. Compression rates as high as 90% induce distortions that are statistically indistinguishable from the intrinsic variability of wind-tunnel testing, which we gauge based on an unusually large collection of replicated tests done under the same wind-tunnel conditions.
