RFID Tag Detection on a Water Content Using a Back-propagation Learning Machine

  • RFID tag is detected by an RFID antenna and information is read from the tag detected, by an RFID reader. RFID tag detection by an RFID reader is very important at the deployment stage. Tag detection is influenced by factors such as tag direction on a target object, speed of a conveyer moving the object, and the contents of an object. The water content of the object absorbs radio waves at high frequencies, typically approximately 900 MHz, resulting in unstable tag signal power. Currently, finding the best conditions for factors influencing the tag detection requires very time consuming work at deployment. Thus, a quick and simple RFID tag detection scheme is needed to improve the current time consuming trial-and-error experimental method. This paper proposes a back-propagation learning-based RFID tag detection prediction scheme, which is intelligent and has the advantages of ease of use and time/cost savings. The results of simulation with the proposed scheme demonstrate a high prediction accuracy for tag detection on a water content, which is comparable with the current method in terms of time/cost savings.

The phytohormone abscisic acid increases triacylglycerol content in the green microalga Chlorella saccharophila (Chlorophyta)

  • Microalgae are currently a very promising source of biomass and triacylglycerol (TAG) for biofuels. In a previous study, we identified Chlorella saccharophila as a suitable source of oil for biodiesel production because it showed high biomass and lipid content with an appropriate fatty acid methyl esters profile. To improve the TAG accumulation in C. saccharophila, in this study we evaluated the effect of abscisic acid (ABA) addition on cell concentration, lipid content and TAG production in this microalga. First, we evaluated the effects of four ABA concentrations (1, 4, 10, and 20 μM) added at the beginning of a single-stage cultivation strategy, and found that all concentrations tested significantly increased cell concentration and TAG content in C. saccharophila. We then evaluated the addition of 1 μM ABA during the second stage of a two-stage cultivation strategy and compared it with a nitrogen deficiency treatment (ND) and a combination of ND and ABA (ND + ABA). Although ABA alone significantly increased lipid and TAG contents compared with the control, ND showed significantly higher TAG content, and ND + ABA showed the highest TAG content. When comparing the results of both strategies, we found a superior response in terms of TAG accumulation with the addition of 1 μM ABA at the beginning of a single-stage cultivation system. This strategy is a simple and effective way to improve the TAG content in C. saccharophila and probably other microalgae as a feedstock for biodiesel production.

Korean Web Content Extraction using Tag Rank Position and Gradient Boosting (태그 서열 위치와 경사 부스팅을 활용한 한국어 웹 본문 추출)

  • For automatic web scraping, unnecessary components such as menus and advertisements need to be removed from web pages and main contents should be extracted automatically. A content block tends to be located in the middle of a web page. In particular, Korean web documents rarely include metadata and have a complex design; a suitable method of content extraction is therefore needed. Existing content extraction algorithms use the textual and structural features of content blocks because processing visual features requires heavy computation for rendering and image processing. In this paper, we propose a new content extraction method using the tag positions in HTML as a quasi-visual feature. In addition, we develop a tag rank position, a type of tag position not affected by text length, and show that gradient boosting with the tag rank position is a very accurate content extraction method. The result of this paper shows that the content extraction method can be used to collect high-quality text data automatically from various web pages.

TagPlus: A Retrieval System using Synonym Tag in Folksonomy (TagPlus: 폭소노미에서 동의어 태그를 이용한 검색 시스템)

  • Collaborative tagging describes the process by which many users add metadata in the form of keywords to shared content. Recently, collaborative tagging has grown in popularity on the web, on sites that allow users to tag bookmarks, photographs, videos and other content. In this paper, we analyze the structure and basic knowledge of collaborative tagging systems as well as their dynamical aspects. We also present a retrieval system, TagPlus, using synonym tag that is derived from WordNet database. Specifically, TagPlus, a synonym tag based system has users retrieve images from Flickr system. The proposed system show the images tagged by not only the tag that users input but also the synonyms that are synonyms with the tag.

Lipid Production Characteristics of the Basophilic Blue-Green Algae Arthrospira platensis Depending on pH for Alkaline Wastewater Treatment (알칼리성 폐수처리를 위한 호염기성 남조류 Arthrospira platensis의 pH에 따른 지질생성 특성)

  • This study investigated the growth and metabolic characteristics of Arthrospira platensis (A. platensis) according to pH, which has an alkaline optimal pH. The intake of inorganic carbon was expected to be the highest at the optimum pH 9, but it was different from the expectation, so the cause of the excessive intake of inorganic carbon at pH 7 was investigated. We tried to verify the triacylglycerol (TAG) synthesis metabolic mechanism because it was assumedthat the inorganic carbon intake of A. platensis according to pH is closely related to lipid production inside the cell. To verify this, the effects of pH on inorganic carbon intake were examined through lipid analysis inthe cell of A. platensis according to pH. As a result, in the case of the effect of inorganic carbon intake of A. platensis according to pH on TAG content, pH 9 and pH 11 showed no significant difference in TAG content, but at pH 7, it was two times higher compared to pH 9 and pH 11. It was assumed that the reason why A. platensis excessively consumed inorganic carbon at pH 7 was because itincreased the TAG content in proportion to the intake of inorganic carbon to protect cells from external pH stress. In addition, it is considered that the TAG content produced in proportion to the intake of inorganic carbon is because acetyl-CoA produced in the Calvin cycle is required for the synthesis of TAG.

  • The recognition rate of RFID system is made a big difference by the selection of tag type and performance of reader, packing materials and the attachment location of tag and the recognition of angle according to the above factors. Water content is the most effective factor among the various elements that affected to the recognition of RFID as the center. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to measure the RFID recognition rate per water content, the distance recognition rate of RFID tag, the RFID tag and the recognition rate by contact area. In analysis of recognition rate according to water content, 100% of recognition was possible when food product contained 0~25% moisture. However, when water content was over than 30%, recognition rate was declined less than 95%. The recognition rate between RFID tag according to water content was higher when distance was over than 0.3 cm. In the recognition rate about the contact area of RFID tag according to water content, the recognition rate was declined when the contact area becomes wider.

Personalized Bookmark Search Word Recommendation System based on Tag Keyword using Collaborative Filtering (협업 필터링을 활용한 태그 키워드 기반 개인화 북마크 검색 추천 시스템)

  • Web 2.0 has features produced the content through the user of the participation and share. The content production activities have became active since social network service appear. The social bookmark, one of social network service, is service that lets users to store useful content and share bookmarked contents between personal users. Unlike Internet search engines such as Google and Naver, the content stored on social bookmark is searched based on tag keyword information and unnecessary information can be excluded. Social bookmark can make users access to selected content. However, quick access to content that users want is difficult job because of the user of the participation and share. Our paper suggests a method recommending search word to be able to access quickly to content. A method is suggested by using Collaborative Filtering and Jaccard similarity coefficient. The performance of suggested system is verified with experiments that compare by 'Delicious' and "Feeltering' with our system.

A Micro-Webpage Stored in NFC Tag (NFC태그에 저장 가능한 마이크로 웹페이지)

  • A Smartphone has an ability accessing Internet by URL stored in NFC(Near Field Communication) Tag for storing the information of items, blogs and web pages. Because the system works through the Internet with URL, however, it needs to pay some costs like communication fee and time. If we can store the web page on the tags, we can save the communication overhead. But they have too small memory to store it. In this paper, we introduce the Micro-Webpage technology which can be stored in NFC tag or QR(Quick Response) code. To make a Micro-Webpage, we remove control tags from the web page to leave a user original content. The removed control tags are stored in our smartphone application as a template. The user content is also compressed to a smaller one by an lossless compression algorithm. When a tag is read, the stored content is decompressed and, it is combined with the template to make the original web page. We have implemented a prototype of Micro-Webpage system on Android platform and confirmed that the prototype has reasonable performance improvements in saving memory and loading web page time.

Timeline Tag Cloud Generation for Broadcasting Contents using Blog Postings (블로그 포스팅을 이용한 방송 콘텐츠 영상의 타임라인 단위 태그 클라우드 생성)

  • Due to the recent increasement of user created contents like SNS, blog posts, and so on, broadcast contents are actively re-construction by its users. Especially, on some genres like drama, movie, various information from cars and film sites to clothes and watches in a content is spreaded out to other users through blog postings. Since such information can be an additional information for the content, they can be used for providing high-quality broadcast services. For this purpose, in this paper, we propose timeline tag cloud generation method for broadcasting contents. In the proposed method, blog postings on the target contents are first gathered and then, images and words around images are extracted from a blog post as a tag set. An extracted tag set is tagged on a specific timeline of the target content. In experiments, to prove the efficiency of the proposed method, we evaluated the performances of the proposed image matching and tag cloud generation methods.

User-Created Content Recommendation Using Tag Information and Content Metadata

  • As the Internet is more embedded in people's lives, Internet users draw on new Internet applications to express themselves through "user-created content (UCC)." In addition, there is a noticeable shift from text-centered contents mainly posted on bulletin boards to multimedia contents such as images and videos on UCC web sites. The changes require different way of recommendations comparing to traditional products or contents recommendation on the Internet. This paper aims to design UCC recommendation methods with user behavior data and contents metadata such as tags and titles, and compare performances of the suggested methods. Real web logs data of a major Korean video UCC site was used to empirical experiments. The results of the experiments show that collaborative filtering technique based on similarity of UCC customers' preferences performs better than other content-based recommendation methods based on tag information and content metadata.
