The Effect of Deposition Temperature on the Growth behavior of TiN deposited by PECVD (TiN 박막 성장거동에 미치는 증착온도의 영향)

  • Extensive reseach has been performed on the process condition-micro structure-stress relations of TiN film. The various proposed models are mainly base on physical vapor deposition processes. Especially the study on the micro-structure and deposition condition has not been sufficient in TiN deposited by PECVD. In this study, therefore, we discussed the morphological changes of TiN films by PECVD with different temperature and pressure, and compared it with the structure zone model. We could find out that the oxygen and chlorine contents and the texture coefficient increased with deposition temperature, and the morphology of TiN transformed from Zone 1 to Zone T, but deposition pressure didn't remarkly affected.

Adhesion between Cu-18wt% Cr Alloy Film and Polyimide : Effect of Heat Treatment (Cu-18wt% Cr 합금박막과 폴리이미드사이의 접착력 : 열처리 영향)

  • The effect of heat treatment on the adhesion between Cu-18wt% Cr film and polyimide has been studied by using T-peel test, AES, and XRD. Cu-18wt% Cr alloy and pure Cu films were sputter deposited onto pol-yimide. Cu was electroplated before and after heat treatment at $400^{\circ}C$ for 0.5 hr and 2 hrs respectively. The adhesion of metal film onto polyimide was considerably good before heat treatment, but heat treatment re-duced the peel adhesion strength in all specimens. The reduction in adhesion in adhesion strength values in the specimens which were plated after heat treatment was mainly due to Cr-O rich pahse formed in the metal/polyimide in-terface. In the specimens which were heat treated after plating, the enhanced ductility in the metal films con-tributes the peel adhesion strength by increasing the amount of deformation in metal strips.

  • As part of efforts to reduce the weight of automotive body-in-white, a hybrid center pillar with high strength 7075 aluminum alloy (AA7075) sheet and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) has been recently studied. In the fabrication of the AA7075-CFRP hybrid center pillar, the AA7075 sheet might go through heating-forming-in-die quenching (HFQ), artificial aging, hybridizing, and then paint baking processes. In this study, we investigate the effects of the heat treatment history associated with each process on the tensile strength of the AA7075 sheet. Typical heat treatment conditions are HFQ for 20 minutes at 480℃ and then cooling down with die, artificial aging of T6 temper for 24 hours at 120℃, hybridizing for 10 minutes at 150℃, and paint baking for 20 minutes at 180℃. The tensile strength of the AA7075 sheet is continuously increased by a series of heat treatments of hybridizing and paint baking and is expected to have yield stress above 500MPa without artificial aging of T6 temper.

  • Development of Rotation-Cylinder Method(RCM) is given for Mg-Al-Zn-X(X=Sr) alloys, identifying some of the key factors that need to be controlled and indicating subsequent casting processes. Effects of Sr addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of as-cast and T6 heat-treated Mg-Al-Zn-X alloys fabricated by the RCM were investigated. The microstructural and mechanical characterizations were performed by utilizing optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, hardness test and ultimate tensile test. The solution and aging treatment time was varied to optimize the T6 heat treatment conditions, and experimental results were discussed. The grain size of Sr containing alloys was refined by increasing Sr content, but the tensile and yield strengths were increased by addition up to 1wt% Sr.

  • The static creep mechanism and behaviour of Al-Zn-Mg alloy have been investigated under condition of constant stress tension creep test in the temperature and stress range of $170-260^{\circ}C$ and 5-12.5 $kg/mm^2$ respectively. The experimental result are follows : The stress exponent value for creep was observed to about 7.3-6.43 and the activation energy for creep deformation was 44-41 kcal/mol. Larson-Miller parameter P for the crept specimens under the creep condition was obtained as P = (T + 460) (log $t_r$ + 8.6). Emperical equation for the creep rate was obtained by the computer simulation as follows. $${\varepsilon}\;=\;\exp[(-5.519{\times}10^{-4}{\sigma}+2.33{\times}10^{-2})T-6.98{\sigma}+18.295]{\times}{\sigma}^{-0.0142+10.18}\exp[\frac{(-6{\sigma}+47.8)1000}{RT}]$$ Fracture was dominated by intergranular mechanism over the experimental range.

  • It is important not only to reduce the casting defects of piston but also to improvement in the mechanical properties(hardness) of piston for the air compressor. The blow hole is typical casting defects in the conventional cast of aluminium alloy(AC8A-T6) piston. Because of the heat treatment method, mechanical properties of the aluminium alloy for piston was decided on the heat treatment method and cycle. Therefore, we tested on the development of mechanical properties and on the casting defects of piston for the air compressor in accordance with the heat treatment and casting condition. After the heat treatment and casting was carried out as several times, and was compared with the imported piston. As a result of several investigations; microstructure, hardness and casting defects of piston was changed under the influence of the heat treatment and casting method. When the cooling rate was controlled and the uni-cast method used, it bas the same mechanical properties and microstructure.

  • In this study, hydroformability and mechanical properties of pre- and post- heat treated Al6061 tubes at different extrusion type were investigated. For the investigation, as-extruded, full annealed and T6-treated Al 6061 tubes at different extrusion type were prepared. To evaluate the hydroformability, uni-axial tensile test and free bulge test were performed at room temperature and $200^{\circ}C$. Also mechanical properties of hydroformed part at various pre- and post-heat treatments were estimated by tensile test. And the tensile test specimens were obtained from hexagonal prototype hydroformed tube at $200^{\circ}C$. As for the heat treatment, hydroformability of full annealed tube is 25% higher than that of extruded tube. The tensile strength and elongation were more than 330MPa and 12%, respectively, when hydroformed part was post-T6 treated after hydroforming of pre- full annealed tube. However, hydroformed part using T6 pre treated tube represents high strength and low elongation, 8%. Therefore, the T6 treatment after hydroforming for as-extruded tube is cost-effective. Hydroformability of Al6061 tube showed similar value for both extrusion types. But flow stress of seam tube showed $20{\sim}50MPa$ lower value.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties in 90% hot forged Incoloy 825 alloy. With increasing solution treatment temperature, the grain size increased and the volume fraction of total precipitates decreased, and the precipitates disappeared at $1,000^{\circ}C$. With increasing aging time at $700^{\circ}C$, the volume fraction of precipitate increased and the precipitates size increased. Most of the precipitates consist $Cr_{23}C_6$ carbide, and a small amount of TiC carbide was also observed. With decreasing solution treatment temperature and increasing aging time, tensile strength and hardness increased, and the elongation and impact value decreased. With increasing aging time, the impact value decreased sharply by the increased of the precipitate size.

  • We investigated the effect of heat treatment on an ADC12 alloy produced using diecasting. The heat treatment used in this study was a typical T6 process: a solid solution treatment followed by an artificial aging treatment. As-cast specimens were solid-solution-treated at $500^{\circ}C$ and $530^{\circ}C$ for 1-16 hr, and aged at $160^{\circ}C$ and $180^{\circ}C$ for 1-8 hr. Microstructural changes in the alloy during the heat treatment were observed. Changes in mechanical properties of the alloy were measured using a micro-Vickers hardness tester. Finally, we determined the optimal heat treatment conditions for the diecast ADC12 alloy.
