Structural nature of chemically inequivalent borons in the nonlinear optical material β-BaB2O4 studied using 11B MAS NMR and 11B single-crystal NMR

  • Detailed information about the structural nature of three-coordinate borons in ${\beta}-BaB_2O_4$ is obtained through $^{11}B$ MAS NMR and $^{11}B$ single-crystal NMR. The three-coordinate $BO_3$ of the two borons B(1) and B(2) in ${\beta}-BaB_2O_4$ were distinguished. The spin-lattice relaxation time in the laboratory frame $T_1$ for B(1) and B(2) slowly decreases with increasing temperature, whereas the spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame $T_{1{\rho}}$ for B(1) and B(2), which differs from $T_1$, is nearly constant. The B(1) and B(2) of the two types were distinguished by $^{11}B$ MAS NMR and $^{11}B$ single-crystal NMR.

[ $T_2$ ]-relaxation Time Measurement of ex vivo $^1H$ MR Metabolite Peaks for Evaluation of Human Stomach Cancer

  • In this study, transverse relaxation time (T2) measurement and the evaluation of the characteristics of the spectral peak related to stomach tissue metabolites were performed using ex vivo proton magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) at 1.5-T MRI/S instruments. Thirty-two gastric tissues resected from 12 patients during gastric cancer surgery, of which 19 were normal tissue and 13 were cancerous tissue, were used to measure the $T_2$ of the magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) peaks. The volume of interest data results from the MRSI measurements were extracted from the proper muscle (MUS) layer and the composite mucosa/submucosa (MC/SMC) layer and were statistically analyzed. MR spectra were acquired using the chemical shift imaging (CSI) point resolved spectroscopy (CSI-PRESS) technique with the parameters of pulse repetition time (TR) and echo times (TE) TR/(TE1,TE2)=1500 msec/(35 msec, 144 msec), matrix $size=24{\times}24$, NA=1, and voxel $size=2.2{\times}2.2{\times}4mm^3$. In conclusion, the measured $T_2$ of the metabolite peaks, such as choline (3.21ppm) and lipid (1.33ppm), were significantly decreased (p<0.01 and p<0.05, respectively) in the cancerous stomach tissue.

133Cs Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Relaxation Study of the Phase Transition of Cs2MnCl4·2H2O Single Crystals

  • The structural phase transition of $Cs_2MnCl_4{\cdot}2H_2O$ single crystals was investigated by determining the $^{133}Cs$ spin-lattice relaxation time $T_1$. The number of resonance lines in the $^{133}Cs$ spectrum changes from seven to one near 375 K, which means that above 375 K the Cs sites are symmetric. Further, the $T_1$ of the $^{133}Cs$ nucleus undergoes a significant change near 375 K, which coincides with the change in the splitting of the $^{133}Cs$ resonance lines. The change in $T_1$ near $T_C$ is related to the loss of $H_2O$, and means that the forms of the octahedra of water molecules surrounding $Cs^+$ are disrupted.

과일 및 채소의 응력완화 직선화 모델 (A Linearization Model of the Stress Relaxation Curves for Fruits and Vegetables)

  • 식물조직의 응력완화 측정 중에 압축응력에 의하여 조직의 내부구조가 변화되는 것을 고려하여 응력완화 곡선을 직선화할 수 있는 일반화 된 실험적 모델 $[F_{(o)}t^n/(F_{(o)}-F_{(t)})=k_1+k_2t]$을 제안하였다. 여기서 $F_{(o)}$는 초기응력, $F_{(t)}$는 t시간 후의 잔여응력, $k_1$, $k_2$와 n은 상수이다. 이 모델은 오이, 감, 사과, 감자, 고구마, 당근 등의 신선한 과일 및 채소류의 응력완화 곡선의 직선화 모델로서 매우 잘 적용되었을 뿐만 아니라 염절임, 당장 및 열처리한 채소류 조직에도 잘 적용되었다. 이 모델로부터 구조거동지수로 정의한 n값은 생시료인 경우 $1.14{\sim}l.35$ 범위로 응력완화 동안에 조직변동이 큰 시료일수록 큰 값을 나타내었고 처리된 시료일 경우 1에 가까워졌다.

Theoretical Investigation of the Vibrational Relaxation of NO(${\upsilon}=1-7$) in Collisions with $O_{2}\;and\;N_{2}$

  • The vibrational relaxation rate constants of NO(v = 1-7) by $O_2\;and\;N_2$ have been calculated in the temperature range of 300-1000 K using the solution of the time-dependent Schrodinger equation. The calculated relaxation rate constants by $O_2$ increase monotonically with the vibrational energy level v, which is compatible with the experimental data, while those by $N_2$ are nearly independent of v in the range of $3.40 {\pm}1.60{\times}10_{-16} cm^3$/molecule-sec at 300 K. Those for NO(v) + $N_2$ are about 2-3 orders of magnitude smaller than those for NO(v) + $O_2$, because the latter is an exothermic processes while the former an endothermic. Relaxation processes can be interpreted by single-quantum V-V transition. The contributions of V-T/R transition and double-quantum V-V transition to the relaxation are negligible over the entire temperature range.

  • The NMR spectra of $Li_3Rb(SO_4)_2$ crystals and their relaxation processes were investigated by using $^7Li$ and $^{87}Rb$ NMR. The relaxation rates of the $^7Li$ and $^{87}Rb$ nuclei in the crystals were found to increase with increasing temperature, and can be described by the relation $T_1^{-1}{\propto}AT^2$. The dominant relaxation mechanism for these nuclei with electric quadrupole moments is provided by the coupling of these moments to the thermal fluctuations of the local electric field gradient via Raman spin-phonon processes.

Magnetic relaxation measurement of infinite layer superconductor Sr$_{0.9}$La$_{0.1}$CuO$_2$

  • The time dependence of irreversible magnetization of grain aligned infinite layer superconductor Sr$_{0.9}$La$_{0.1}$CuO$_2$ was measured in temperature range of 2 K < T < 30 K for H= 0.5 T, 1.0 T and 1.5 T parallel to c-axis. From this, we calculated normalized flux creep rate S(T) ${\equiv}$ dlnM/dlnt and found that the temperature independent region in S(T) is significantly wide in comparision with other cuprate superconductors. Using the method of Maley et al., we also deduce the current density dependence of pinning potential and glassy exponent ${\mu}$.

NMR을 이용한 홍삼의 용적밀도 측정 및 내부 조직 판별 (Determination of Bulk Density and Internal Structure of Red Ginseng Root Using NMR)

  • This paper describes the determination of bulk density and the discrimination of internal structure of red ginseng by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The 102 red ginseng roots were tested for bulk density. The NMR properties measured by NMR parameters such as spin-lattice relaxation time ($T_1$) and spin-spin relaxation time ($T_2$) were determined using the low field proton NMR analyzer. Bulk density of red ginseng root showed a highly negative significant correlation (r=-0.8934) with the value of $T_1$, but a highly positive significant correlation (r=0.7672 and 0.5909) with the value of T21 (short T2) and T22 (long T2), respectively. Multiple regression equation, Y=-0.0069.$T_1$+0.3044.$T_{21}$-0.0156.$T_{22}$-0.6368, using the MNR parameter values of 80 red ginseng roots can effectively predict the bulk density of 22 red ginseng roots with the correlation coefficient of 0.9396 and the standard error of 0.086. The differences in the internal structure of normal and inside white part of red ginseng were easily found by the signal intensity of NMR image based on magnetic properties of proton nucleus.

인두조직의 점 탄성특성의 수학적모델링에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mathematical Modeling of Human Pharyngeal Tissue Viscoelasticity)

  • Y.C. Fung[1]에 의한 연조직의 점탄성에 관한 수학적 모델이론 (Fung's Quasi-linear vlscoelastic theory)을 이용하여 인간의 인두조직의 점탄성(vlscoelatlcity)특성을 측정하기 위하여 반복성하중(cyclic load) ,응력완화 (tensile stress relaxation), incremental load, 그리고 일축성인장 (uniaxial tensile) 시험 등을 실시하였다. 실험적으로 측정한 인두조직의 점탄성특성이 이미 조사된 다른 조직의 점탄성특성과 정량적으로 비교되었다. 인두조직의 점탄성특성의 정량화를 위하여 Y.C.Fung의 수학적 모델이 적용되었는데 응력완화(tensile stress relaxation) 시험 측정결과로부터 도출된 표준화된 응력완화(reduced stress relaxation)함수 G(t)와 일축성인장(uniaxial tensile)시험에서 도출된 탄성반응(elastic response)함수 5(t)를 이용하여 시간에 따른 응력의 궤적을 산출하여 이를 반복성 하중(cyclic load)실험에서 측정된 결과와 비교, 분석하였다. 이러한 인두조직의 점탄성특성에 관한 연구결과는 향후 유한요소를 이용한 인두의 생체역학적 모델의 기본 데이터로 이용될 수 있다.
