Infestations of two spotted spider mite (TSSM), Tetranychus urticae Koch, on glasshouse rose (Rosa sp.) grown by an arching method, were determined by counts of the number of TSSM per leaflet in Buyeo, Chungnam Province, for a 2-yr period. Binomial sampling plans were developed based on the relationship between mean density per leaflet (m), and proportion of leaflets infested with ( T mites (PT), according to the empirical model In (m) = a+p In (-ln (1 -PT)). T was defined as tally threshold, and set to 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 mites per leaflet. Increasing sample size had little effects on the precision of the binomial sampling plan, regardless of tally threshold. However, the precision increased with higher tally thresholds. There was a negligible improvement in precision with T ) 7 mites per leaflet. T= 7 was chosen as the best tally threshold for estimating densities of TSSM based on the precision of the model. Independent data set was used to evaluate the model. The binomial model with T= 7 provided reliable predictions of mean densities of TSSM observed on the commercial glasshouse roses.
Thirty-three species of insect pests including of two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, and air-breathing land snail, Acusta despecta Sowerby, were observed on mulberry for producing mulberry fruits in Jeonbuk province from 2015 to 2016. Of these, 8 species of insect pests, including of mulberry thrips, Pseudodendrothrips mori Niwa, are regarded as major insect pests. Of the 25 species observed before harvesting, 6 species-P. mori, Anomoneura mori, Pseudaulacaspis pentagona, Baris deplanata, Menophra atrilineata and T. urticae-are regarded as major insect pests. In contrast, of the 20 species observed after harvesting, 5 species-P. mori, P. pentagona, Glyphodes pyloalis Walker, Hyphantria cunea Drury and T. urticae-are regarded as major insect pests. Eight of the major insect pest species and nine other insect pest species-including Hexcacentrus unicolor Serville, Malcus japonicus Ishihara et Hasegawa, Halyomorpha halys stal, Xylosandrus germanus Blandford, four species of Repidoptera (Bombyx mandarina Moore, Euproctis subflava Bremer, Acronicta major Bremer, Agrotis trifurca Butler), and Acusta despecta Sowerby-were observed at all sites studied, although occurrence of the insect pests observed on mulberry varied from site to site.
Toxicity of 5 acaricides, 4 insecticides. and 6 fungicides to the twospotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, and its predator Amblyseius womersleyi Schicha was assessed in a laboratory using a leaf disk bioassay. Dicofol was equally very toxic to aduly females of T. urticae and A. womersleyi, and caused 46% and 40% mortality of eggs of those two species, respectively. Adult females of A. womersleyi dipped in Abamectin solution showed low mortality(16.6%), while all T. urticae females died within 24 hours after dipping. Three ovicidal acaricides (Tetradifon, Clofentezine, and Hexythiazox) showed no mortality of predator eggs, but more than 90% mortality of T. urticae eggs. Four insecticides (Teflubenzuron, Triflumuron, Diflubenzuron, and Imidacloprid) and three fungicides (Propineb, Fenarimol, and Polyoxin-B captan) were non toxic to the A. womersleyi adult females. The other fungicides (Chlorothalonil, Nuarimol.Mancozeb, and Folpet) were a little toxic to adult females of the predator, showing$\leq$23.3% mortality, It may be suggested from these results that 4 insecticides, 4 acaricides, and 6 fungicides described could be incorporated into the integrated pest management system with A. womersleyi in apple orchard.

The vertical distribution and dispersion of the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae and its predator, Phytoseiulus persimilis, were investigated within and between green pepper plants. We also tested the effect of an artificial bridge with threads on dispersal of P. persimilis between the plants. The extent of spread of T. urticae depended on its infested density and location. When 10 adults of T. urticae were inoculated on upper leaf, they stayed on the upper leaf until 5 days after inoculation. However, when 100 adults were inoculated on an upper leaf, they dispersed to the lower leaf within a day. In condition that 10 adults of T. urticae were inoculated on the lower leaf, they started to move toward upward within a day. In the absence of T. urticae, P. persimilis tended to move to the leaves where T. urticae was present when both T. urticae and P. persimilis were inoculated together within a plant. An artificial bridge with threads between two plants was helpful to disperse P. persimilis to neighboring plants. Therefore, it would be expected that the dispersal of P. persimilis can be promoted by supplying the artificial bridges among plants and by narrowing the distances between plants.
To overcome the problems associated with chemical pesticides, biological pest controls agent extracted from Ginkgo biloba was studied. Insecticidal activities components in Ginkgo biloba extracts were analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). This results of HPLC analysis, GG-W80 were included bilobalide $611\;{\mu}g/kg$, ginkgolide A $37\;{\mu}g/kg$ and ginkgolide B $243\;{\mu}g/kg$, while YG-W80 were included bilobalide $214\;{\mu}g/kg$ and ginkgolide B $46\;{\mu}g/kg$. The biological activity of Ginkgo biloba extracts were conducted to repellent and pesticidial effect of Tetranichus urticae, Aphis gossypii and Myzus persicae treated with Ginkgo biloba leaves extracts. Mortalities of adult T. urticae to green Ginkgo biloba extracts (GG-W80) and yellow Ginkgo biloba extracts (YG-W80) were shown 98.3% and 20.0%, respectively. From these results, terpenes components in Ginkgo biloba extracts could be use for biological controls for T. urticae.
Genetic variability was monitored by random amplified polymorphic DNA-polymerase chain reaction (RAPD-PCR) in dicofol-susceptible (S), dicofol-resistant (R) and its reverse-selected (RS) strains of two-spotted spider mite, of Tetranychus urticae. Before the reverse-selection, RS strain, selected reversely from R strain, was 23-fold resistance ratio at {TEX}$LC_{50}${/TEX} to S strain. The resistance was started to in incline slowly to the resistance level of S strain after one year, and the resistance ratio was 4-fold in the 7 years after then. PCR-amplification of T. urticae DNA showed polymorphism in the amplifications with 12 primers in 100 kinds of arbitrary DNA sequences. RAPD amplification with primer OPR-12 (5`-ACAGGTGCGT-3`) showed amplified bands at 1,000 base pair in the S-and RS-strain, and at 350 base pair in R-strain. The results of polymorphism are genetic variabilities derived from development and selection of resistance in each strain. The peculiarly amplified fragments were guessed to participate in dicofol resistance. From the analysis of genetic similarity, it is inferred the gene composition of S-and RS-strain is much closer than that of R-strain.
These studies were carried out to investigate the amounts and preferences of Oligota kashmirica benefica to 3 species of phytophagous mites and cannibalism. The number of mites consumed by an adult beetle tended to increase as prey density and temperature go up. In the constant temperature of 25$^{\circ}C$, average number of consumed adult mites by an adult of O. kashmirica benefica to Panonychus citri, Tetranychus urticae and T. kanzawai were 21.9, 13.5, and 14.1 for a day, respectively. The number of mites consumed by larva of O, kashmirica benefica tended to increase as the larva grow up. First, 2nd and 3rd larva of the beetle consumed 2.8, 11.2 and 25.4 adult of citrus red mite (P. citri) for a day, respectively. Total number of mites consumed during larval stage (5 days, 25$^{\circ}C$) to P. citri, T. urticae and T. kanzawai were 77.7, 61.3 and 73.0, respectively. The larva and adult beetle did not prefer specific species in the P. citri, T. urticae and T. kanzawai, and when there was no diet, few incidents of cannibalism between different developmental stage were observed.
Comparative studies on suppression possibility with three phytoseiid mite species (An.thly, seiu,sw omersleyi Schicha. A. ,fidIrrc~i.Gs arman and T\ulcornerphlorlrotiiu.s oc~c~idetitaliNs esbit) to the two-spotted spider mite (Te~trrrt~yc.Iir~l~l\ulcorner.i\c .(re Kwh) on kidney bean leaves in field and greenhouse were carried out. In the field experiments with the initial prey -predator ratio of 4 : 1. I0 : I and 20: I . A. ,firllrrcis suppressed successfully the prey populations at all three ratios 17 days after the initial infestation. A. wornc,r-;leyi \uppressed the prey population only at the ratio of 4 : 1, while T. oc~c~ideritcr1iw.s as unable to suppress the prey population at all tested ratios. In the greenhouse experiments with the initial prey-predator ratio of 10: 1, A. jil1ltrci.s could suppress the prey population continuously during the infestation period. A. ~~otnc~r,slceoyuil d suppress the prey population for 13 days after the initial infestation, while T. occie1mttrli.s could suppress the prey population for 8 - 23 days after the initial infestation.

Development of T. urticae was studied on the leaves of eggplant grown in hydroponics with silica contents of 0 mM, 1.7 mM, and 5.1 mM. As the levels of sllica increased, those of N, P, K, Ca, and Mg decreased and those of Si increased. While contents of calory, crude protein, carbohydrates, and vitamin C decreased, those of ash, fiber, and sugar increased. Biomass and content of cholorophyll decreased as the level of silica increased while leaves became thicker. Laboratory leaf disc tests provided with various silica levels revealed that feeding preference of T. urticae was the highest at 0 mM and the lowest at 1.7 mM. The oviposition preference decreased as the levels of silica increased, on the lower leaf appeared to hinder the feeding and the oviposition of T. urticae. The development slowed down both in female and male. Adult life span of female shortend as the silica level increased and that of male was the longest as 5.7 days at 0mM and the shortest at 1.7 mM. Oviposition period also shortened as the silica content increased. The number of eggs laid was the most as 86.3 at 1.7 mM while average oviposition per day was the least as 77 at 0 mM. No differences in hatchability was detected whereas the ratio of sex was the highest as 0.71 in favor of female at 0mM. $R_o$ and T decreased as the levels of silica increased. Rm and $\lambda$ was the lowest at 5.1 mM while Dt was the longest as 1.8271 at 5.1 mM and the shortest as 1.6991 days at 1.7 mM. Silica content in eggplant turned to affect the development of T. urticae, however, it deterred T. urticae from feeding and oviposition and the rate of increase tended to decrease due to lesser nutrients in the eggplant leaf.

Development of T. urticae was studied on the leaves of eggplant grown in hydroponics with nitrogen contents of 5 mM, 10 mM, 30 mM, and 60 mM. As the nitrogen level in hydroponics increased, it also increased in the plant whereas that of K, Ca, and Mg decreased. More nitrogen in hydroponics resulted in increased contents of water and crude protein, and decreased ash, carbohydrates, and fibers within the plant. Biomass was the heaviest as 989.5 g at 10 mM and the lightest at 60 mM. Leaf thickness and the content of chlorophyll increased as the content of nitrogen increased. Laboratory leaf disc tests obtained from plants grown at various nitrogen levels revealed that feeding and oviposition preferences of T. urticae were high at 30 mM and low at 5 mM. Ratio of damaged leaf by naturally occurring T. urticae on eggplants of 99 days post-transplant in the greenhouse was the highest as 98% at 60 mM. Degrees of damage on eggplants with and without T. urticae infestation turned up more as the differences in the levels of nitrogen in the hydroponics get bigger. No definite differences in the rate of T. urticae development was found between nitrogen treatment levels but, mortalities in immature stages dropped as the nitrogen levels went up. Adult longevity was the longest of 11.9 for female and 6.9 days for male at 60 mM. Oviposition period was also the longest as 11.7 days at 60 mM and shortened as the level of nitrogen decreased. The number of eggs oviposited was the most as 144.4 at 60 mM while it was the least as 41.0 at 5 mM. Sex ratio was 0.75 in favor of female at 10 mM. $R_o$ and T increased, no trends were detected in $r_m\;and\;{\lambda}$, while Dt decreased as the levels of nitrogen went up.
