  • We statistically investigated the properties of low-latitude Pi2 pulsations using Bohyun (BOH, Mlat = $29.8^{\circ}$, L = 1.35) ground magnetometer data in 2008. For this 1-year interval, 582 Pi2 events were identified when BOH was in the nightside from 1800 to 0600 local times. We found the following Pi2 characteristics. (1) The occurrence distribution of Pi2s is relatively constant in local times. (2) The Pi2 frequency varies in local times. That is, Pi2 pulsations in postmidnight sector had higher frequency than in premidnight sector. (3) Pi2 power in premidnight sector is stronger than in postmidnight sector. (4) Pi2 frequency has positive correlation with solar wind speed and AE index. (5) Pi2 power has not a clear correlation with solar wind parameters. This indicates that Pi2 power is not controlled by external sources. (6) It is found that the most probable-time between Pi2 onsets is ${\Delta}t$ ~ 37.5 min: This is interpreted to be the period between Pi2 pulsations when they occur cyclically. We suggest that ${\Delta}t$ ~ 37.5 min is the occurrence rate of reconnection of open field lines in the tail lobe.

  • Financial data such as stock index returns and exchange rates have the properties of heavy tail and asymmetry compared to normal distribution. When we estimate VaR using the GARCH model (with the conditional return distribution of normal) it shows the tendency of the lower estimation and clustering in the losses over the estimated VaR. In this paper, we argue that this problem can be resolved through the adaptation of the unbounded Johnson distribution as that of the condition return. We also compare this model with the GARCH with the conditional return distribution of normal and student-t. Using the losses exceed the ex-ante VaR, estimates, we check the validity of the GARCH models through the failure proportion test and the clustering test. We nd that the GARCH model with conditional return distribution of unbounded Johnson provides an appropriate estimation of the VaR and does not occur the clustering of violations.

  • Poly(1-dodecyl-2,5-pyrrylene vinylene) (PDPV) has an extended 1t-conjugated structure and exhibits characteristic spectroscopic features. The PDPV we prepared has an absorption maximum at 510nm and its long absorption tail at ca. 750nm in methylene chloride is due to the long 1t-conjugated system connected to vinyl group. The large red-shift of emission was 625nm upon excitation at 480nm, which suggests the existence of a low emissive state. The emission of PDPV in less-polar solvents decreased markedly relative to that in the more-polar solvents; this observation was ascribed possibly to quenching by a strong vibrational mode of the dodecyl groups of PDPV in less-polar solvents. Furthermore, the emission from the high-energy side had a single decay component (0.1㎱, 49.96%), while that from the low-energy side had two components (0.6㎱, 27.1 %; 2.7㎱, 22.87%). We characterized the redox properties of PDPV by cyclic voltammetry. Every redox peak showed irreversible behavior; the oxidation peaks appeared at 1.7,0.8, and 0.6V and the reduction peak at -0.5V.

  • A pain is the symptom which defends against noxious stimulus about a human body, it is known that if the periphery of perceptive nerve were stimulated by a physical or chemical factors, the stimulation is induced by transmission to pain center in the cerebral cortex according to pain conduction tract. The treatment of pain is to decrease a stimulus that causes a pain or block off a nerve transmitting a stimulus or puts on a way to calm down pain center, but It is for adjustment of a pain to be the most representative in acupuncture among various ways to cure a pain in Oriental medicine. However, the analgesic effect of an individual response to acupuncture stimulation shows marked individual variations, so these days genetic a few approach is attempted. On this the author determined that the responding group was appointed those whose tail flick latency (TFL) responding time delayed the minimum of 30 % comparing with basal reaction time. For those whose TFL time had shorter than 30 % was grouped as a non-responding group. And then the hypothalamus of each group was dissected and RNA was further purified. After synthesizing cDNA using oligo dT primer, products were finally applied to the PCR. The results were as follows; The ratio of responding group to non-responding group was 6:4. Ach T (acetylcholinesterase T subunit), BF-I (Brain factor-I), DBH (Dopamine β-hydroxylase) and PNM (Phosphotidylethanolamine N-Methyltransferase) were revealed significantly in the responding group. Cathepsin B and Tau were revealed significantly in the non-responding group. The PCR results show that Ach T, BF-I, DBH and PNM are expressed abundantly in the responding group, where as cathepsin B and tau are abundant in the non-responding group. These results suggest that the analgesic effect on acupuncture stimulation is related to regulation of neurotransmitter as well as neurodegeration of cerebrum.

  • Background and Objective : Twirling is one of the needling methods, which is frequently used for acupuncture in oriental medicine. Some thesis about needle manipulation has been reported that needle manipulation is more effective than plain acupuncture. So we have developed the auto-controlled twirling needle(ACTN) system which is most simple style of needle manipulation. The present study was conducted to see if ACTN can enhance the antinociceptive effect of acupuncture. Methods : To investigate the analgesic effect of acupuncture we used two pain model. One is acute pain model using tail flick latency(TFL), the other is neuropathic pain model using mechanical allodynia. For TFL test, rats were lightly anesthetized with pentobarbital sodium(40 mg/kg, i.p). To produce mechanical allodynia in the rat tail, the right superior caudal trunk was resected between the S1 and S2 spinal nerves. For plain acupuncture(PA), a needle was inserted into a Zusanli(ST36) for 15min. In combining ACTN with PA, twirling needle was performed once in a second. We measured the difference of analgesic effect of only PA and ACTN on two different kinds of pain. Results and conclusion : ACTN increased TFL more than PA. (15min P<0.001, 25min P<0.01). And ACTN also reduced neuropathic pain (15min P<0.01, 25min<0.05). But PA alone can't reduce the neuropathic pain. These results indicate that ACRN had more analgesic effect than PA. The mechanism that play a key role, and the condition which produce best analgesic effect of ACTN are to be studied further.

  • This is the Study of the Bass performance of the Jimmy Blanton who is first pioneer of Jazz Style Bass playing. Since the contrabass is using in jazz Performances Before jimmy Blanton, playing technique was mainly played repeatedly with simply two or four Beat with Root or 5th degree of Chord Tone. In Other words, there was only root based Note along with Harmony which doesn't have Bass Solos or Melodic phrase Appeared in Bass playing. Jimmy Blanton Was the First Bass Player who changes This Traditional Concept of Jazz bass playing after New Orleans Jazz era. He was introduced variety of accompaniment Style with Various rhythmic phrase and Bass Soloing like a horn Player. We could know that His Style Continues to Such as Ray Brown, Paul chambers who has a big Name after Jimmy Blanton. I analyzed accompaniment Style and solo techniques Of Jimmy Blanton with the Song "Cotton tail and MR.JB Blues" Which He Performed with Duke Ellington. I learned a lot while I'm analyzing his Performing Style from Jimmy Blanton, such as Target Note playing, using Chord Tones and Arpeggios, Melodic Solo Style, Jazz Style Bowing Technique, Question and Answer Phrasing etc. I could notice That He Was the true Pioneer of the First Bass player In the Early Jazz days.

  • This study was investigated the morphological characters, secondary sexual dimorphism, and habitat patterns of Korean Rattus animals collected on Jeju Island from April 2005 to October 2012. Two wild rat species, namely R. norvegicus and R. tanezumi were identified on Jeju Island based on morphological characteristics and molecular data; however, R. rattus, which had recorded formerly, was not found in this study. Individuals of R. norvegicus were captured from urban, rural, and natural habitats, while those of R. tanezumi were specially found in animal farms and the surrounding areas. Comparing of morphological characters of two species, R. norvegicus had a shorter tail and ears than R. tanezumi (p<0.05), and the ratios of tail length and ear length to those of head-body length showed significantly differences between two species (p<0.05). The body weights (BW) of urban populations of R. norvegicus were significantly heavier than those of rural populations (p<0.05). No secondary sexual dimorphism was found in R. norvegicus, but females of R. tanezumi showed heavier BW than those of males (p<0.05). These findings suggest that it is necessary to revise the records for the existence of R. tanezumi and to confirm the animal fauna and elucidate the distribution and ecological characteristics from further studies using extensive sampling and detailed investigations on Jeju Island and also on the Korean Peninsula.

  • The action of neuronally released ${\gamma}$-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is terminated by uptake into the neurons by GABA transporters (GATs). The mechanism underlying the stabilization and regulation of GAT2 has not yet been elucidated. We used the yeast two-hybrid system to identify proteins that interact with and, thereby, regulate betaine-${\gamma}$-aminobutyric acid transporter 1 (BGT-1/mGAT2). We found an interaction between BGT-1/mGAT2 and Munc-18-interacting proteins (Mints). The "T-H-L" motif at the C-terminal end of BGT-1/mGAT2 was essential for the interaction with Mint2 in the yeast two-hybrid assay. Mint2 bound to the tail region of BGT-1/mGAT2, but not to other GAT members. When co-expressed in HEK-293T cells, Mint2 was co-immunoprecipitated with BGT-1/mGAT2. In addition, we demonstrated the cellular co-localization of BGT-1/mGAT2 and Mint2 in the cells. These results suggest that Mint2 contributes to the regulation of BGT-1/mGAT2.

  • Vesicles and organelles are transported along microtubule and delivered to appropriate compartments in cells. The intracellular transport process is mediated by molecular motor proteins, kinesin, and dynein. Kinesin is a plus-end-directed molecular motor protein that moves the various cargoes along microtubule tracks. Kinesin 1 is first isolated from squid axoplasm is a dimer of two heavy chains (KHCs, also called KIF5s), each of which is associated with the light chain (KLC). KIF5s interact with many different binding proteins through their carboxyl (C)-terminal tail region, but their binding proteins have yet to be specified. To identify the interacting proteins for KIF5A, we performed the yeast two-hybrid screening and found a specific interaction with Ras-GTPase-activating protein (GAP) Src homology3 (SH3)-domain-binding protein 2 (G3BP2), which is involved in stress granule formation and mRNA-protein (mRNP) localization. G3BP2 bound to the C-terminal 73 amino acids of KIF5A but did not interact with the KIF5B, nor the KIF5C in the yeast two-hybrid assay. The arginine-glycine-glycine (RGG)/Gly-rich region domain of G3BP2 is a minimal binding domain for interaction with KIF5A. However, G3BP1 did not interact with KIF5A. When co-expressed in HEK-293T cells, G3BP2 co-localized with KIF5A and was co-immunoprecipitated with KIF5A. These results indicate that G3BP2, which was originally identified as a Ras-GAP SH3 domain-binding protein, is a protein that interacts with KIF5A.

  • China has a long history of sheep (Ovis aries [O. aries]) breeding and an abundance of sheep genetic resources. Knowledge of the complete O. aries mitogenome should facilitate the study of the evolutionary history of the species. Therefore, the complete mitogenome of O. aries was sequenced and annotated. In order to characterize the mitogenomes of 3 Chinese sheep breeds (Altay sheep [AL], Shandong large-tailed sheep [SD], and small-tailed Hulun Buir sheep [sHL]), 19 sets of primers were employed to amplify contiguous, overlapping segments of the complete mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequence of each breed. The sizes of the complete mitochondrial genomes of the sHL, AL, and SD breeds were 16,617 bp, 16,613 bp, and 16,613 bp, respectively. The mitochondrial genomes were deposited in the GenBank database with accession numbers KP702285 (AL sheep), KP981378 (SD sheep), and KP981380 (sHL sheep) respectively. The organization of the 3 analyzed sheep mitochondrial genomes was similar, with each consisting of 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes (12S rRNA and 16S rRNA), 13 protein-coding genes, and 1 control region (D-loop). The NADH dehydrogenase subunit 6 (ND6) and 8 tRNA genes were encoded on the light strand, whereas the rest of the mitochondrial genes were encoded on the heavy strand. The nucleotide skewness of the coding strands of the 3 analyzed mitogenomes was biased toward A and T. We constructed a phylogenetic tree using the complete mitogenomes of each type of sheep to allow us to understand the genetic relationships between Chinese breeds of O. aries and those developed and utilized in other countries. Our findings provide important information regarding the O. aries mitogenome and the evolutionary history of O. aries inside and outside China. In addition, our results provide a foundation for further exploration of the taxonomic status of O. aries.
