  • The cross sections of structural walls have various shapes such as T, L, and H-shaped. The L-shaped walls frequently appear in the comer of the structural plans. There are a little researches on the structural performance of L-shaped walls subjected to hi-directional loads. L-shaped wall subjected to hi-directional loads might be failed due to high compressive stress in the corner of the wall. L-shaped wall subjected to bi-directional(45$^{\circ}$ direction) loads was failed by the compressive failure more possible than that of one-directional(0$^{\circ}$ direction) loads. Therefore, in this paper, Two L-shaped wall specimens are chosen and presented. One is LCU specimen subjected to the bi-directional loads, the other is LCX specimen subjected to the one-directional loads. Also, the experimental results compared with the analytical results from nonlinear FEM analysis.

  • An approximate method for analyzing the bending problems of irregular-shaped plates is proposed. In this paper irregular-shaped plates are such plates as plate with opening, circular plate, semi-circular plate, elliptic plate, triangular plate, skew plate, rhombic plate, trapezoidal plate or the other polygonal plates which are not uniform rectangular plates. It is shown that these irregular-shaped plates can be considered finally as a kind of rectangular plates with non-uniform thickness. An opening in a plate can be considered as an extremely thin part of the plate, and a non-rectangular plate can be translated into a circumscribed rectangular plate whose additional parts are extremely thin or thick according to the boundary conditions of the original plate. Therefore any irregular-shaped plate can be replaced by the equivalent rectangular plate with non-uniform thickness. For various types of irregular-shaped plates the convergency and accuracy of numerical solution by proposed method are investigated.

  • This work is to develop a T-shirt by adopting a unique cloud pattern (a good auspicious sign as design material) from traditional native Korean patterns for application to various cultural products and textile design cloth patterns; subsequently, a T-shirt design was processed based on this. As a research method, computer design programs Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Adobe Photoshop CS3 were used along with a literature examination as part of motive for design development and pattern realization. Three basic motives were selected as a new formative image in this work, utilizing graphical elements such as abridgement and simplicity of pattern, where flower-shaped cloud pattern, uprising cloud pattern, and 卍-shaped or swastika-shaped pattern of traditional cloud patterns were selected. Each motive diverged into two motives via the shape transformation and the application of different colors. The newly developed basic motive was further processed into a combination of one-time repeat pattern, stripe pattern, and application pattern with mixed cloud motives (that were previously developed), which altogether turned out to be 36 pieces of textile design. In addition, with newly developed motive designs and textile designs, a total of 12 shirt designs for 4 pieces were developed for these three each. The shirt design was developed into a shirt blouse, sleeveless T-shirt, half-sleeve T-shirt, and sports T-shirt among others in order to fit various uses and purposes.

  • This paper describes the dynamic characteristics of the joint structures in case of using the simplified beam model in the F. E. analysis. The modeling errors, when replace the shell with the beam, are investigated through F. E. normal modes analysis. Normal mode analysis were performed to obtain the natural frequencies of the L and T shaped joints with various type of channels. The results were analyzed to access the effects of the models on the accuracy of F.E. analysis by identifying the geometric factors which cause the error. The geometric factors considered are joint angle, channel length, thickness and area ratio of the hollow section to the filled one. The joint stiffness evaluation technique is developed in this study using normal modes analysis with Lumped Mass. With this method, the progressively improved results of F. E. analysis are obtained using the simplified beam model. The static and normal modes analysis are performed with the joint stiffness values obtained by the Kazunori Shimonkakis' virtual stiffness method and the proposed method and these simplified modeling errors are compared.

  • Electropulsing treatment (EPT) has been developed as an alternative to furnace heat treatment (FHT) to exploit its engineering advantages in rapidly annealing metallic materials. Conventionally, the separation of thermal and athermal effects of EPT has been attempted by comparing EPT and FHT specimens processed under identical temperature and duration. However, this method inherently introduces experimental and measurement errors. This study proposes a novel approach to distinguish the thermal and athermal effects of EPT-processed metals using T-shaped specimen with two observation points, namely 'C' and 'D'. For verification, the thermal gradient of T-shaped Mg alloys was examined under various EPT conditions. The points C exhibited higher temperatures compared to those at points D at a given electric current density, because only the former received both thermal and athermal effects. It was confirmed from twelve specimens that the point C at an electric current density of 65 A·mm-2 and point D at 70 A·mm-2 exhibited similar temperatures. This developed method is expected to reduce measurement errors in distinguishing thermal and athermal effects, thus providing a deeper understanding of their quantitative contributions in future studies.

  • This is the result of the comparison of the number of jeans, colors, images, opinions when it was purchased, shapes according to the gender of persons in jeans. According to the gender, male students had 1.64 jeans(46.3%) and female students had 2.09 jeans(53.7%) on the average. Male students selected colors of jeans which they don't have, but want to wear once in the order of blue(3.7%), red(21.0%), white(24.1%), black(25.6%), and others(25.6%). Female students selected colors in the order of blue(3.2%), black(15.6%), red(24.8%), white(27.7%) and others(25.6%). In case of the general image about jeans, male students thought the jeans as masculine(1.2%), sexy(3.1%), unisexual(3.2%), active(23.6%), young(29.8%), and comfortable(36.5%) and female students thought it as masculine(0.3%), sexy(3.5%), unisexual(10.4%), young(21.9%), comfortable(28.1%) and active(35.8%). Male students considered torn or holed jeans ill-mannered(10.7%), delinquent, (20.7%)trendy(21.0%), comfortable(22.9%), and dandy(24.7%). Female students think it ill-mannered(3.4%), delinquent7.1%, trendy(17.4%), comfortable(21.1%), and dandy(50.9%). When they purchase jeans, male students choose according to trends(17.9%), don't consider design(19.5%) and look for their own styles(62.6%), female students didn't consider design(5.2%), choose according to trends(22.0%), and look for their own styles(72.5%). The designs of jeans which they usually wear were bell bottom(1.5%), wide-shaped(7.4%), baggy(17.5%), straight-shaped(73.6%) in case of male students. on the other hand, in case of female students, baggy(10.2%), wide-shaped(11.0%), bell bottom(17.0%), and straight-shaped(61.8%). The designs of jeans which they didn't have but want to wear once are wide-shaped(10.1%), bell bottom(13.2%), baggy(20.9%), and straight-shaped(55.2%) in case of male students. On the other hand, females students want to wear baggy(11.6%), wide-shaped(15.0%), straight-shaped(27.6%), and bell bottom(45.8%). The above-mentioned findings illustrated that both male and female students regarded blue as the original color of jeans, but they wanted to wear jeans in colors other than blue. In the past, jeans were considered masculine and unisex, but they viewed jeans as an apparel that was comfortable to wear and made it easier to move. Female students had a higher tendency to be fashionable than male students, and their preference for jeans was consequently different. Jeans manufacturers should take those characteristics into account to produce products in different colors and form.

  • The purpose of this study was to improve the properties of epoxy resin using titanium oxide nanoparticles. The effects of particle weight fraction, dispersion agent, and curing agents with different molecular weights on the thermal and mechanical properties of titanium-oxide-reinforced epoxy resin were investigated. In addition, the effect of the particle dispersion condition on the mechanical properties of nanocomposites was studied. As a result, it was found that the glass transition temperature of film-shaped nanocomposites decreased with an in-crease in the nanoparticle content. Because nanoparticles interrupted the cross linkage between the epoxy resin and the amine curing agent, the cross-link density of the epoxy became lower and led to a decrease in $T_g$ in the nanocompo-sites. The tensile strength and modulus in film-shaped nanocomposites also increased with the particles content. But in the case of dog-bone-shaped nanocomposites, the values were not similar to the trend for the film-shaped nanocompo-sites. This was probably a result of the different nanoparticles dispersions in the epoxy resins resulting from the respective-thicknesses of the film and dog-bone-shaped samples.

  • The stationary point structures and relative energies between them as well as binding energies of $(CO)_2$ have been investigated at the CCSD(T) level using the correlation-consistent basis sets aug-cc-pVXZ(X=T,Q,5). It is found that while the equilibrium structure corresponds to the C-bonded T-shaped configuration with intermolecular distance of 4.4 $\AA$, there exists another minimum, slightly higher in energy ($\sim$10 $cm^{-1}$) than the global minimum, corresponding to the O-bonded T-shaped configuration with the intermolecular distance of 3.9 $\AA$. The CCSD(T) basis set limit binding energy of $(CO)_2$ is estimated to be 132 $cm^{-1}$.

  • In this paper, we have proposed dual-band Phi-shaped slot gap filler antenna for satellite internet service applications. Some properties of the antenna such as return loss, radiation pattern, and gain have been simulated and measured. The proposed antenna has a Phi-shaped slot on the circular patch and is fabricated on the TLX-9 substrate. The radius of the circular patch is 25 mm, and it has a coaxial feeding structure. The dual-band Phi-shaped slot gap filler antenna has high-gain, small-size, simple-structure, and good radiation patterns at each band. The operating frequency band can be tuned by adjusting the length AL and FL of the Phi-shaped slot.

  • A numerical simulation and an experimental implementation of T-shaped microstrip-fed printed slot array antenna are presented in this paper. The proposed antenna with relative permittivity 4.3 and thickness 1.0mm is analyzed by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The dependence of design parameters on the bandwidth characteristics is investigated. The measured bandwidth of twin-slot array antenna is from 1.37 GHz to 2.388 GHz, which is approximately 53.9 % for return loss less than or equal to -10 dB. The bandwidth of twin-slot is about 1.06 % larger than that of single-slot antenna. The measured results are in good agreement with the FDTD results.
