Improvement of Calibration Method for a Dual-rotating Compensator Type Spectroscopic Ellipsometer

  • The compensators used in spectroscopic ellipsometers are usually assumed to be ideal linear waveplates. In reality, however, they are elliptical waveplates, because they are usually made by bonding two or more linear waveplates of different materials with slight misalignment. This induces systematic error when they are modeled as linear waveplates. We propose an improved calibration method based on an optical model that regards an elliptical waveplate as a combination of a circular waveplate (rotator) and a linear waveplate. The method allows elimination of the systematic error, and the residual error of optic axis measurement is reduced to 0.025 degrees in the spectral range of 450-800 nm.

  • The performance of a Strapdown Inertial Navigation System (SDINS) relies heavily on the accuracy of sensor error calibration. Systematic calibration is usually employed when only a 2-axis turntable is available. For systematic calibration, the body frame is commonly defined with respect to sensor axes for ease of computation. The drawback of this approach is that sensor axes may undergo time-varying deflection under temperature change, causing pseudo gyro bias. The effect of pseudo gyro bias on navigation performance is negligible for low grade navigation systems. However, for higher grade systems undergoing rapid temperature change, the error is no longer negligible. This paper describes in detail conditions leading to the presence of pseudo gyro bias, and proposes two techniques for mitigating the error. Experimental results show that applying these techniques improves navigation performance for precision SDINS, especially under rapid temperature change.

  • GPS Navigation Solutions are used for operational orbit determination for the KOMPSAT-1 spacecraft. GPS point position data are definitely affected by systematic errors as well as noise. Indeed, the systematic error effects tend to be longer term since the GPS spacecrafts have periods of 12 hours. And then, the overlap method of determining orbit accuracy is always optimistic because of the presence of systematic errors with longer term effects. In this paper, we investigated the measurement noise and the system error for the KOMPSAT-l GPS Navigation Solutions. To assess orbit accuracy with this type of data, we use longer data arcs such as 5-7 days instead of 30 hour data arc. For this assessment, we should require much more attention to drag and solar radiation drag parameters or even general acceleration parameters in order to assess orbit accuracy with longer data arcs. Thus, the effects of the consideration of the drag, solar radiation drag, and general acceleration parameters were also investigated.

  • A method is proposed for efficiently estimating the mean of a population which has a linear trend. The proposed estimator is based on the centered modified systematic sampling method and the concept of interpolation. Using the expected mean square error criterion, it is shown that the proposed method is more efficient than conventional methods in most real cases.

철도 사고 및 장애의 인적오류 유형 분석 (An Analysis of Human Error Mode and Type in the Railway Accidents and Incidents)

  • Human error is one of the major contributors to the railway accidents or incidents. In order to develop an effective countermeasure to remove or reduce human errors, a systematic analysis should be preferentially performed to identify their causes, characteristics, and types of human error induced in accidents or incidents. This paper introduces a case study for human error analysis of the railway accidents and incidents. For the case study, more than 1,000 domestic railway accidents or incidents that happened during the year of 2004 have been investigated and a detailed error analysis was performed on the selected 90 cases, which were obviously caused by human error. This paper presents a classification structure for human error analysis, and summarizes the analysis results such as causes of the events, error modes and types, related worker, and task type.

  • 1950년대 후반 이후, 항공분야에서 사고율을 줄이기 위해 많은 노력을 기울여 안전 수준이 향상되었다. 전반적인 사고 비율은 지난 몇 년 동안 상당히 감소하였고, 환경 및 기계적 요인에 의한 사고는 감소하였으나, 인적오류 관련 사고는 불행히도 감소하는데 성공하지 못했다. 환경적 기계적 요소에 기인하는 사고는 줄었으나, 인적오류는 항공사고 원인 인자로 증가하고 있다. 오늘날, 모든 항공 사고의 매우 큰 비율이 직접 또는 간접적으로 인적오류의 몇 가지 형태에 비롯되고 있다. 많은 연구의 결과로, 인간의 오류 방지에 대해서 개발되고 있다. 그러나 어떤 종류의 오류 방지는 정확성, 효율성의 부족과 체계적인 접근에서 부족한 면이 고려되어야 할 것으로 보인다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 인간의 오류에 가장 효과적이고 체계적인 예방을 분석하고 인간의 오류 및 항공 안전에 대한 방법에 있어 통합에 집중 연구하였다. 본 연구에서는 인적오류 예방을 위한 여러 대안들 사이의 우선순위를 이해하고 파악함으로써 인적오류 문제를 해결하기 위한 시사점을 제시하고 한다.

GARCH 모형을 활용한 비트코인에 대한 체계적 위험분석 (Systematic Risk Analysis on Bitcoin Using GARCH Model)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the volatility of bitcoin, diagnose if bitcoin are a systematic risk asset, and evaluate their effectiveness by estimating market beta representing systematic risk using GARCH (Generalized Auto Regressive Conditional Heteroskedastieity) model. First, the empirical results showed that the market beta of Bitcoin using the OLS model was estimated at 0.7745. Second, using GARCH (1, 2) model, the market beta of Bitcoin was estimated to be significant, and the effects of ARCH and GARCH were found to be significant over time, resulting in conditional volatility. Third, the estimated market beta of the GARCH (1, 2), AR (1)-GARCH (1), and MA (1)-GARCH (1, 2) models were also less than 1 at 0.8819, 0.8835, and 0.8775 respectively, showing that there is no systematic risk. Finally, in terms of efficiency, GARCH model was more efficient because the standard error of a market beta was less than that of the OLS model. Among the GARCH models, the MA (1)-GARCH (1, 2) model considering non-simultaneous transactions was estimated to be the most appropriate model.

온-보드 영상장치를 이용한 총체적 셋업의 정확성 분석 (Analysis of Overall Setup Accuracy Using On-Board Imager��)

  • 본 연구에서는 방사선사를 포함한 레이저, 갠트리 및 온-보드 영상장치의 총체적 셋업의 정확성을 평가하고자 하였다. 경험이 많은 방사선사에게 매일 아침 마커블록을 카우치의 Lock bar 시스템에 고정하고 마커블록을 레이저 중심에 맞추도록 하였다. 71일간 마커블록을 2D/2D 정합으로 위치를 보정하기 위하여 $0^{\circ}$ and $270^{\circ}$ 각도에서 한 쌍의 kV 영상을 획득하였다. 정합이 되었을 때 원격으로 카우치를 조정하여 셋업에러를 보정하고 보정 값은 저장하였다. 상하방향(vertical)과 앞뒤방향(longitudinal) 평균오차를 분석한 결과 상하방향은 0.65, 앞뒤방향은 0.66으로 나타났으며 반면에 좌우방향(lateral)은 0.01으로 나타났다. 상하방향과 앞뒤방향의 p 값은 모두 0.00으로 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났으며, 좌우방향에서는 p 값이 0.829로 나타나 계통오차를 발견하기 어려웠다. 총체적 셋업평가방법은 일간으로 시행하기에 유용하고 편리하였다. 그러나 계통오차를 줄이기 위해서 여전히 레이저와 OBI의 일간 점검은 필요하다.
