Increasing Business Service Interoperation through the WSDL Extension

  • To support business services interoperation, the BSD (Business Service Document), which is an extension of the Web Service Description Language (WSDL) the web service specification of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) was designed. The WSDL presents comprehensive standards for the interoperability of software components and W3C delegates extensions of WSDL to the users for their own purposes and objectives. In this article, BSD Creator, which can generate well-formed and valid BSDs, was designed and implemented. Also, the BSD Operation Pilot System where service providers can publish BSD specification documents and service users can search for services, was implemented and presented. BSD Creator and the BSD Operation Pilot System, which are the outcomes of this study, were assessed for their quality and usefulness using ISO/IEC 9126. The outcomes of this paper will be the basis on which industry groups can construct a Business Services Interoperation System, and are expected to contribute to the revitalization of business service interoperation.

복합체계 개념에 기반한 국방체계 모델링 시뮬레이션 방법론 (Modeling and Simulation Methodology for Defense Systems Based on Concept of System of Systems)

  • A complex system such as defense systems is in a form of System of Systems (SoS) in which each component is a system being independent of other component systems. Dynamical behavior of SoS is represented by a composition of behaviors of component systems. Thus, a M&S tool/environment would not be efficient for development of heterogeneous models nor for simulation in a centralized environment. Moreover, such an environment restricts reusability and composability. This paper presents an interoperation method for M&S of defense systems as SoS. The approach first develops component system models using tools, each specialized to M&S of each component system. It then interoperates such simulations together to simulate a whole system as SoS. HLA/RTI is employed for such interoperation, which is a DoD/IEEE standard to support interoperation. We will introduce a case study for interoperable simulation of defense systems, which consists of a wargame simulator and a communication simulator.

  • A hybrid system is defined as a mixture of continuous systems and discrete event systems. This paper first proposes a framework for hybrid systems modeling, called Hybrid Discrete Event System Specification (HDEVS) formalism. It then presents a method for simulators interoperation in which a continuous system simulator and a discrete event simulator are executed together in a cooperative manner. The formalism can specify a hybrid system in a way that a continuos system and a discrete event system are separately modeled by their own specification formalisms with a support of well-defined interface. We call such interface an A/E converter for analog-to- event conversion and an E/A converter for event-to-analog conversion. Simulators interoperation is based on the concept of pre-simulation in which simulation time for a continuous simulator is advanced in accordance with a discrete event simulator.

고신뢰 사이버-물리 무기체계 획득을 위한 LVC 연동 개발 프레임워크 (LVC-Interoperation Development Framework for Acquiring High Reliable Cyber-Physical Weapon Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 사이버-물리 시스템의 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 도구인 EcoSuite를 기반으로 지능화, 복잡화되고 있는 사이버-물리 시스템 형태의 무기체계를 개발 및 시험하는 프레임워크를 제시한다. EcoPOD를 이용한 무기체계의 모델링과 타 무기체계 모델들과 연동하여 구성 (Constructive) 시뮬레이션 환경 기반의 전장을 제공하는 EcoSIM이 소개된다. LVC 연동 개발을 위해서는 시뮬레이션 모델 연동 구조와 연동 기술에 순응(compliant)하는 인터페이스 기술, 그리고 시뮬레이션 모델과 실제 시스템(Live), 그리고 사용자와 상호작용하는 시스템(Virtual)의 연계 기술의 개발이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 LVC 연동 개발을 통한 모델의 검증 및 시스템의 기능을 시험하는 아키텍처와 적용 사례가 제시된다.

  • The spontaneous interoperation is an important characteristic of ubiquitous applications and is closely related with mobility. The mobile components in ubiquitous environments are liable to appear in and disappear from one physical space to another. Because this characteristic certainly influences the structure and behavior of applications, they should adapt themselves to the changed environments by configuring their structure and behaviors. Consequently, developers are faced with the above challenging issue when they design and implement ubiquitous applications. The role concept is an efficient tool to model participant entities, their relationship, and collaboration, so role-based model are appropriate to describe a structure and behavior of software system. But, little attention has been given to reflect characteristics of ubiquitous applications. To tackle the problem, this study considers a ubiquitous application as a software organization which consists of software components and proposes an enhanced role-based application model for supporting spontaneous interoperation.

HLA/RTI를 이용한 워게임 시뮬레이터와 통신 효과 시뮬레이터의 연동 시뮬레이션 연구 (Research of Interopaeration Simulation between War Game Simulator and Communication Effect Simulator using HLA/RTI)

  • Wargame simulators are widely used in the field of defence modeling and simulation. Because of increasing importance of communication effects on the warfare, the war game simulator is also required to reflect communication effects. One way to satisfy the requirement is the interoperation simulation between war game simulator and communication effect simulators. This paper shows the application of interoperation simulation between war game and communication effect simulators using HLA(High-Level Architecture)/RTI(RunTime Infrastructure). The war game simulator mainly deal with the engagement of troops and the troops communicate each other at the mission execution level. In the other hand, The communication effect simulator perform communication actions between the troops in the engineering level. Using the interoperation simulation, we can reflect the communication effects on the war game simulation. We show various applications of the interoperation simulation with the point of the war game and communication effect simulator. with a case study, we explain the interoperation simulation improves the reality and fidelity of the war game simulator and how the interoperation simulation can be applied to developing doctrines and real communication system.

한국군에서의 C4I체계와 M&S 상호운용을 위한 BML 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Battle Management Language Application for the C4I and M&S Interoperation in ROK Forces)

  • 전투관리언어인 BML은 미군에서 가상 부대 및 실제 부대를 지휘 및 통제하기 제공하기 위한 명확한 언어라고 정의할 수 있다. BML은 C2 체계와 M&S를 연결하기 위해 미국과 NATO에서 개발되었다. BML이 개발된 목적은 전장정보를 통해 상황인식을 제공하고, C2 체계와 M&S간 상호운용을 위한 해법을 제시하는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 육군에서 시작하여 다국적국으로 구성된 환경으로 확장되고 있는 미국의 BML 개발과정에 대해서 설명하고, 한국군에서 C4I체계와 M&S간 상호운용을 위한 BML 적용 방안에 대해서 제안한다. 최근, 미국에서는 BML을 연합국으로 구성된 환경에서 적용하여 긍정적인 결과를 얻었는데, 이는 C2 체계와 M&S간 상호운용에 대한 가능성을 보여주었다. 마지막으로, 본 연구는 BML을 한국군에 적용하기 위한 방안으로 한국군 합동지휘통제체계를 중심으로 제안하였다. 이는 향후 한국군에서 BML 적용시 밑그림을 제공 할 것이라고 판단된다.

시스템수준 시뮬레이션과 디스크 I/O수준 시뮬레이션 연동을 위한 DEVSim++과 DiskSim 사이의 인터페이스 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of DEVSim++ and DiskSim Interface for Interoperation of System-level Simulation and Disk I/O-level Simulation)

  • 본 논문은 분산 스토리지 시스템과 같이 디스크를 내장하고 있는 다수의 컴퓨터 노드로 구성되어 있는 스토리지 시스템에서 개개의 디스크 스펙 변화에 따른 전체 성능을 분석하고자 할 때 잘 알려져 있는 블록 I/O 수준의 디스크 시뮬레이터인 DiskSim과 시스템수준의 시뮬레이터와의 연동을 위한 인터페이스의 설계 및 구현에 관한 기법을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 시스템수준 시뮬레이션 엔진으로는 계층적이고 모듈러한 모델링 기법을 지원하는 DEVS 형식론을 지원하는 범용 이산사건시스템 시뮬레이션 엔진인 DEVSim++을 목표로 하였고 이식성을 위해 DiskSim과 DEVSim++ 시뮬레이션 엔진의 내부는 수정하지 않는 것을 가정하였다. 이를 만족하기 위해 I/O 수준의 DiskSim 시뮬레이터와 시스템 수준의 DEVSim++ 기반 시뮬레이터 사이의 연동 인터페이스 구조를 제안하였다. 이 구조에서는 여러 인스턴스의 DiskSim을 관리하는 DiskSimManager의 개념을 도입하여 I/O 수준 시뮬레이션과 시스템 수준 시뮬레이션 간의 시간과 사건(데이터) 동기화를 담당하도록 설계하였고, 시스템 수준의 DEVS 모델에서 간편하게DiskSim을 접근할 수있도록 감싸는 DEVS wrapper 모델을 제안하였다. 벤치마크 실험결과 설계 구현된 연동 인터페이스를 사용한 시뮬레이션 결과는 DiskSim만의 단독 시뮬레이션 결과와 정확히 일치함을 확인함으로써 설계 구현된 연동 인터페이스가 목적에 맞게 잘 동작함을 입증하였다.

HLA 연동 어댑터를 사용한 다중 해상도 모델 연동체계 개발 (The Method of Developing an Interoperation System between Multi-Resolution Models using a HLA Adapter)

  • Multi-resolution modeling(MRM) is required when simulating objects in variable resolution and can be applied for interoperating systems, which simulate objects in fixed resolution. However, most interoperation middleware do not support MRM, so participating models must handle several issues to simulate MRM system. In this paper, we propose an interoperation system, which is composed of several different resolution models, based on the High Level Architecture and Run-Time Infrastructure(HLA/RTI). In the proposed architecture, each model participates to a HLA federation through MRM adapter application, which supports data resolution conversion and HLA services while communicating with the model. MRM adapter application can be implemented based on an MRM adapter, and an adapter application development tool is proposed to support developing the application. Using the tool, developers can easily implement data resolution conversion component plugged-in HLA adapter. A case study is implemented in the proposed MRM system, and shows that models of different resolution works successfully with dynamic resolution changes.

프로토콜 평가를 위한 DEVSim++ 와 NS2 의 연동 환경 (DEVSim++ - NS2 Interoperating Environment for Protocol Evaluation)

  • This paper proposes a methodology for development of protocol models. The methodology attempts to employ two modeling environments in models development, NS2 and DEVSim++, which will interoperate during simulation. NS2 is a widely used network simulator in protocol research, which employs an informal modeling approach. Within the approach time and state information of protocol models are not explicitly described, thus being hard to validate model. On the other hand the DEVS formalism is a mathematical framework for modeling a discrete event system in a hierarchical, modular manner. In DEVS, model's time and state information is described explicitly, By using DEVS formalism, models can easily be validated and errors in the modeling stage can be reduced. However, the DEVS simulator, DEVSim++, supports a small amount of models library which are required to build simulation models of general communication network. Although NS2 employs an informal modeling approach and models validation is difficult, it supports abundant models library validated by experimental users. Thus, combination of DEVS models and NS2 models may be an effective solution for network modeling. Such combination requires interoperation between DEVSim++ simulator and NS2 simulator. This paper develops an environment for such interoperation. Correctness and effectiveness of the implemented interoperation environment have been validated by simulation of UDP and TCP models.
