Bankruptcy prediction is an important and widely studied topic since it can have significant impact on bank lending decisions and profitability. Recently, support vector machine (SVM) has been applied to the problem of bankruptcy prediction. The SVM-based method has been compared with other methods such as neural network, logistic regression and has shown good results. Genetic algorithm (GA) has been increasingly applied in conjunction with other AI techniques such as neural network, CBR. However, few studies have dealt with integration of GA and SVM, though there is a great potential for useful applications in this area. This study proposes the methods for improving SVM performance in two aspects: feature subset selection and parameter optimization. GA is used to optimize both feature subset and parameters of SVM simultaneously for bankruptcy prediction.
A dead zone prediction system for vehicles are implemented in this paper. To improve performance reliability and stability, we import two method to get a information between car and car, and car and road. One is traffic lane detection method, another is vecle recognition. In this paper, we explain the methods and whole structure about this system except for details.
The analysis of statically indeterminate bearing-shaft system was investigated. The moment loads and misalignment angles which were induced in the ball bearings were determined, and the influence of span length of this system on the moment loads and fatigue lives was identified. The sliding and spinning speeds between balls and raceways which affected the performance of ball bearing evaluated. The equation to estimate the cage speed of ball bearing under moment loads was proposed. This equation had been verified by the test results of measuring of cage speed, which was useful to the prediction of ball bearing under moment loads.

This paper describes realtime visual tracking system of moving object for three dimensional target using EKF(Extended Kalman Filter). We present a new realtime visual tracking using EKF algorithm and image prediction algorithm. We demonstrate the performance of these tracking algorithm through real experiment. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the EKF algorithm and image prediction algorithm for realtime tracking and estimated state value of filter, predicting the position of moving object to minimize an image processing area, and by reducing the effect by quantization noise of image.

Ground source heat pump systems (GSHP) can achieve higher performance of the system, by supplying more efficient heat source to the heat pump, than the conventional air-source heat pump system. But building clients and designers have hesitated to use GSHP systems, due to expensive initial cost, and uncertain economic feasibility. In order to reduce the initial cost, many researches have focused on the energy-pile system, using the structure of the building as a heat exchanger. Even though several experimental studies for the energy-pile system have been conducted, there was not enough data of quantitative evaluation with economic analysis and comprehensive analysis for the energy-pile. In this study, a prediction method has been developed for the energy pile system with barrette pile, using the ground heat transfer model and ground heat exchanger model. Moreover, a feasibility study for the energy pile system with barrette pile was conducted, by performance analysis and LCC assessment. As a result, it was found that the heat exchange rate of a barrette pile was 2.55 kW, and the payback period using LCC analysis was 8.8 years.
Purpose - By designing a PEF(Personalized Education Feedback) system for real-time prediction of learning achievement and motivation through real-time EEG analysis of learners, this system provides some modules of a personalized adaptive learning system. By applying these modules to e-learning and offline learning, they motivate learners and improve the quality of learning progress and effective learning outcomes can be achieved for immersive self-directed learning Research design, data, and methodology - EEG data were collected simultaneously as the English test was given to the experimenters, and the correlation between the correct answer result and the EEG data was learned with a machine learning algorithm and the predictive model was evaluated.. Result - In model performance evaluation, both artificial neural networks(ANNs) and support vector machines(SVMs) showed high accuracy of more than 91%. Conclusion - This research provides some modules of personalized adaptive learning systems that can more efficiently complete by designing a PEF system for real-time learning achievement prediction and learning motivation through an adaptive learning system based on real-time EEG analysis of learners. The implication of this initial research is to verify hypothetical situations for the development of an adaptive learning system through EEG analysis-based learning achievement prediction.

We develop a coastal wave forecasting system by using the unstructured grid based on sea wind data of Global Data Assimilation and Prediction System. The verification is performed to examine the performance and accuracy of the wave model. Since the conventional grid has limited wave forecasting on complex coastlines and bathymetry, the unstructured grid system is applied for precise numerical simulation, and applicability for operational support is evaluated. Both grid systems show similar prediction trends in offshore and coastal areas, and the difference in prediction errors according to the grid system is not large. In addition, the applicability of the operational wave forecasting system is confirmed by dramatically reducing the model execution time of the unstructured grid under the same conditions.
The development of computer and information technology has been combined with the information superhighway internet infrastructure, so information widely spreads not only in special fields but also in the daily lives of people. Information ubiquity influences the traditional way of transaction, and leads a new E-commerce which distinguishes from the existing E-commerce. Not only goods as physical but also service as non-physical come into E-commerce. As the scale of E-Commerce is being enlarged as well. It keeps people from finding information they want. Recommender systems are now becoming the main tools for E-Commerce to mitigate the information overload. Recommender systems can be defined as systems for suggesting some Items(goods or service) considering customers' interests or tastes. They are being used by E-commerce web sites to suggest products to their customers who want to find something for them and to provide them with information to help them decide which to purchase. There are several approaches of recommending goods to customer in recommender system but in this study, the main subject is focused on collaborative filtering technique. This study presents a possibility of pre-evaluation for the prediction performance of customer's preference in collaborative filtering before the process of customer's preference prediction. Pre-evaluation for the prediction performance of each customer having low performance is classified by using the statistical features of ratings rated by each customer is conducted before the prediction process. In this study, MovieLens 100K dataset is used to analyze the accuracy of classification. The classification criteria are set by using the training sets divided 80% from the 100K dataset. In the process of classification, the customers are divided into two groups, classified group and non classified group. To compare the prediction performance of classified group and non classified group, the prediction process runs the 20% test set through the Neighborhood Based Collaborative Filtering Algorithm and Correspondence Mean Algorithm. The prediction errors from those prediction algorithm are allocated to each customer and compared with each user's error. Research hypothesis : Two research hypotheses are formulated in this study to test the accuracy of the classification criterion as follows. Hypothesis 1: The estimation accuracy of groups classified according to the standard deviation of each user's ratings has significant difference. To test the Hypothesis 1, the standard deviation is calculated for each user in training set which is divided 80% from MovieLens 100K dataset. Four groups are classified according to the quartile of the each user's standard deviations. It is compared to test the estimation errors of each group which results from test set are significantly different. Hypothesis 2: The estimation accuracy of groups that are classified according to the distribution of each user's ratings have significant differences. To test the Hypothesis 2, the distributions of each user's ratings are compared with the distribution of ratings of all customers in training set which is divided 80% from MovieLens 100K dataset. It assumes that the customers whose ratings' distribution are different from that of all customers would have low performance, so six types of different distributions are set to be compared. The test groups are classified into fit group or non-fit group according to the each type of different distribution assumed. The degrees in accordance with each type of distribution and each customer's distributions are tested by the test of ${\chi}^2$ goodness-of-fit and classified two groups for testing the difference of the mean of errors. Also, the degree of goodness-of-fit with the distribution of each user's ratings and the average distribution of the ratings in the training set are closely related to the prediction errors from those prediction algorithms. Through this study, the customers who have lower performance of prediction than the rest in the system are classified by those two criteria, which are set by statistical features of customers ratings in the training set, before the prediction process.
The rapid growth of technology for network and terminal devices is able to service multimedia contents in mobile environments. But as the environment of networks and the performance of devices is varied, the same quality service is very difficult to be provided for user in internet and mobile environment. Therefore, multimedia streaming system must provide an adaptive service in considering network and device environment. Video transcoding techniques are the good solution that can provide video streaming service in various network environments adaptively. This paper proposes a dynamic frame-skipping transcoding scheme to provide adaptive streaming service in various network environments. This scheme uses the prediction period for transcoding. A proposed transcoding scheme can reduce time complexity through combination of prediction period and skipping period to control frame-skipping rate in encoder. In simulation results, the performance of proposed scheme is similar to the performance of a traditional dynamic frame-skipping scheme in PSNR value. But the performance of proposed scheme outperforms the performance of traditional scheme in time complexity.
