  • This paper presents the on-vehicle information system that displays the states of the vehicle in brief words instead of symbols. Main functions of this system include a system check function, trip function, warning function, and clock function. With this system, a driver can obtain all sorts of useful information related to various conditions of the vehicle, and if any problem arises in the vehicle, he can recognize it by the displayed words with a warning sound. Also, this system is very helpful for safety driving because it displays whatever a driver wants to have concerning trip information. By experimental test and driving test, the development system shows good results for each function.

  • The purpose of this study was to define the content of requisite human structure and function knowledge needed for clinical knowledge of nursing practice. Subjects of human structure and function were divided into 10 units, and each unit was further divided into 21 subunits, resulting in a total of 90 items. Contents of knowledge of human structure and function were constructed from syllabus of basic nursing subjects in 4 college of nursing, and textbooks published by nurse scholars prepared with basic nursing sciences. The degree of need of 90 items was measured with a 4 point scale. The subjects of this study were college graduated 136 nurses from seven university hospitals in Seoul and three university hospitals located in Chonnam Province, Kyungbook Province, and Inchon. They have been working at internal medicine ward, surgical ward, intensive care unit, obstetrics and gynecology ward, pediatrics ward, opthalmology ward, ear, nose, and throat ward, emergency room, rehabilitation ward, cancer ward, hospice ward, and their working period was mostly under 5 years. The results were as follows: 1. The common content of human structure and function knowledge need for all clinical areas in nursing was structure and function of blood, hematopoietic function, function of plasm, coagulation mechanism and anticoagulation mechanism, body fluid, electrolyte balance, and acid-base balance. However, the degree of need of each human structure and function knowledge was different depending on clinical areas. 4. Significant differences in human structure and function knowledge necessary for nursing practice such as skin and derivatives of the skin, growth and development of bone, classification of joint, classification of muscle, structure of muscle, function of muscle, function of spinal cord, peripheral nerve, structure and function of pancrease, component and function of blood, function of plasma, structure and function of blood, hemodynamics, respiratory dynamics, gas transport, regulation of respiration, chemical digestion of foods, absorption of foods, characteristics of nutrients, metabolism and hormonal regulation, body energy balance were demonstrated according to the duration of work. 5. Significant differences in human structure and function knowledge necessary for nursing practice such as classification of tissue, classification of muscles, function of muscles, muscle metabolism, classification of skeletal muscles, classification of nervous system, neurotransmitters, mechanism of hormone function, pituitary and pituitary hormone, structure and function of male reproductive organ, structure and function of female reproductive organ, component and function of blood, function of plasma, coagulation mechanism and anticoagulation mechanism, gas exchange, gas transport, regulation of respiration, characteristics of nutrients, energy balance, function of kidney, concept of immunity, classification and function of immunity were shown according to the work area. Based on these findings, all the 90 items constructed by Korean Academic Society of Basic Nursing Science should be included as contents of human structure and function knowledge.

  • This paper shows that a well-defined energy function can be developed to reflect the transfer conductances for multi-machine power systems under an assumption that all transmission lines have uniform R/X rations. The energy function is derived by introducing a pure reactive equivalent system for the given system. In this study, a static energy function reflecting transfer conductances is also derived as well as the transient energy function. The proposed static energy function is applied to voltage stability analysis and tested for various sample systems. The test results show that the accuracy of voltage stability analysis can be considerable improved by reflecting transfer conductances into the energy function.

  • If one can find a control Lyapunov function (CLF) for a given nonlinear system, the control input stabilizing the system can be easily obtained. To find a CLF, the time derivative of an energy function should be negative definite. This procedure frequently requires a control input which is a rational function or includes an inverse function. The control input is not defined on the specific state-space where the denominator of the rational function is equal to 0 or the inverse function does not exist. In this region with singularities, the trajectory of the control system cannot be generated, which is one of the most important reasons why it is hard to make the origin of a nonlinear system be globally asymptotically stable. In this paper, we propose a smooth control law ensuring the globally asymptotic stability by means of cancelling the singularity in the control input.

  • The use electron-beam(E-beam) manufacturing system provides a means to alleviate optic exposure equipment's problems. We are developing an E-beam manufacturing system with scanning electron microscope(SEM) function. The E-beam manufacturing system consist of high voltage generator, beam blanker, condenser lenses, object lenses, stigmator and stage. The development of E-beam manufacturing system is used on the method of remaking SEM's structure. The functions of SEM are developed. It is important for the test of E-beam performance. In E-beam manufacturing system and SEM, beam focus is important function. In this paper, we propose intelligent remote control function for beam focus in E-beam manufacturing system. The function extends the user's function and gives convenience.

  • This paper deals with the WASPIFA (Web-based Assistant System for Protein-protein Interaction and Function Analysis) system that can provide the comprehensive information on Protein-protein interaction and function concerned with function analysis. Different from existing systems for protein function and protein-protein interaction analysis, which provide fragmentary information restricted to specific field, our system furnishes end-user with comprehensive and synthetic information on the input sequence to be analyzed, including function and annotation information, domain information, and interaction relationship information. The synthetic information that our system contains as local databases has been extracted from many resources related to function, annotation, motif and domain by various pre-processing. Employing our system, end-users can evaluate and judge the synthetic results to do protein interaction and function analysis effectively. In addition, the WASPIFA system is equipped with automatic system management and data update function that facilitates system manager to maintain and manage it efficiently.

  • In general it is difficult to determine a Liapunov function for a given asymptotically stable, nonlinear differential equations system. But, in the system with control inputs, it is feasible to make a given positive function, except for a small area, globally satisfy the conditions of the Liapunov function for the system. We call such a positive function a Liapunov-like function, and propose a method of nonlinear optimal regulator using this Liapunov-like function. We also use the periodic Liapuitov-like friction that suits the system whose equilibrium points exist periodically. The relationship between the Liapunov function and cost function which this nonlinear regulator minimizes is considered using inverse optimal method.

  • This article introduces the five functions of the national innovation system (NIS). As the national innovation system is a kind of social systems in the national level, the five generic functions of open system-production boundary spanning, maintenance, adaptation management functions-are applied to the NIS. The production function is the primary process, which produces innovative products and services of the NIS. The boundary spanning function is the function of procuring the input and disposing the innovation output or aiding in these process. Experienced R&D human resources, R&D funds, technology etc. belong to the input of the NIS. The maintenance function is responsible for the smooth operation and upkeep of the system in terms of various conditions. The adaptive function is to help the system change and adapt, scan the environment for problems, opportunities, and technological developments. It faces outward for the survival of the system from the long-term view. The management function carries out planning and controlling the overall activities for the other four functions in order to run the system. Finally it discuses implications for the diagnosis and the decision making process of S&T policy.
