  • The purpose of this study is to develop design model of ecological park as stormwater storage facilities. The results are as follows : First, the design model of ecological park as stormwater storage facilities consider ecological and landscape characteristics such as high efficiency of land use, function as disaster prevention, ecological water purification, formation of habitat for flora and fauna. Second, this study demonstrates two types of plane structure and eight types of designed section. They can be combined and designed depending on conditions of each site. The facilities of stormwater storage conduct disaster prevention system and ecological park. Retention pond in stormwater storage facilities for ecological park also should be made for ecological restoration in the site. Third, the ecological park provide the basis for ecological network from in-site to out-site. Therefore its conservation and restoration plan consider the ecosystems of the site. Fourth, the most important factor for maintenance and management for retention pond is keeping water quality. Sustainable Structured wetland Biotop system is suggested for ecological water purification system in the retention pond which is one of the constructed wetland system using multi-celled aquatic plant and pond. This system can also provide habitat for animals and plants, water friendly park for men, and beautiful landscape.

  • The optimal design of floating type fisheries facilities in the open sea is demanded considering with the severe hydrodynamic forces on floating body, mooring tension and holding force of anchor. For conserving the facilities in most effective state, design and selection of anchor system is one of the most important fundamental subject. To enhance the design procedure of anchor system the holding forces of anchor are investigated by the hydraulic model test and are compared with the typical conventional results for various anchors. Applicability of previous estimation methods of holding force are checked and holding mechanism of anchor is discussed. Using the results a new computational concept of holding force is suggested considering mainly the effects of passive soil pressure (resistance), steady soil pressure, and surface friction etc. The new estimation method is proved as a feasible one by comparing the results of hydraulic model experiments. Applicability of various anchors to the anchor system on open sea fisheries structures is comprehensively reviewed using the present model tests and previous study results in the viewpoint of economy, construction and stability etc. Using the results, fundamental anchoring system design procedures are suggested to apply huge marine ranching complex with increase of the holding capacity of anchor under the optimum cost.

  • A design objective for variable stability flight control system is to develop a controller of in-flight simulation capability that forces the aircraft being flown to follow the dynamics of other aircraft. This paper presents a model-following variable stability control system (VSS) for in-flight simulation which consists of feedforward and feedback control laws, the aircraft dynamic model to be simulated, and switching and fader logics to reduce the transient effect between two aircraft dynamics. The separate design techniques for feedforward and feedback control law proposals are based on model matching and augmented linear quadratic (LQ) techniques. The system allows pilots to select and engage VSS mode, and when deselected, the aircraft reverts to the baseline flight control system. Both the baseline flight control laws and VSS control laws are computed continuously during flight. Initialization of the state values are necessary to prevent instability, since VSS control laws have integrators and filters in longitudinal, and lateral/directional axes. This paper demonstrates and validates the effectiveness and quality of VSS with F-16 models embedded in T-50 in-flight simulation aircraft.

  • This paper presents the dynamic parameter design optimization of a suspension seat system using the genetic algorithm. At first, an equivalent 1-D.O.F. mass-spring-damper model of a suspension seat system was constructed for the purpose of its vibration analysis. Vertical vibration response and transmissibility of the equivalent model due to base excitations, which are defined in the ISO's seat vibration test codes, were computed. Furthermore, seat vibration test, that is ISO's damping test, was carried out in order to investigate the validity of the equivalent suspension seat model. Both analytical and experimental results showed good agreement each other. For the design optimization, the acceleration transmissibility of the suspension seat model was adopted as an object function. A simple genetic algorithm was used to search the optimum values of the design variables, suspension stiffness and damping coefficient. Finally, vibration ride performance test results showed that the optimum suspension parameters gives the lowest vibration transmissibility. Accordingly the genetic algorithm and the equivalent suspension seat modelling can be successfully adopted in the vibration ride quality optimization of a suspension seat system.

  • Quite many papers about moving objects database (MOD) have been Published. Most of them are concerning of improving efficiency of updating policy, but none of them talks about verification of system's requirements. No matter how efficient updating policy is employed, a system designer still has to verify if the MOD satisfies user's requirement at the beginning of system lifestyle. For example, if a MOD serves n moving objects, then the designer must verity if it can update information for n moving objects and provide new information to moving objects within specified time limit. For the purpose of requirement analysis of MODs, we build a Petri net model for MOD using Design/CPN, and then we show how to verify whether the MOD satisfies user's requirements by simulation. The contribution of this paper is providing a simulation model for requirement analysis of MOD for the first time. The model is expansion of our previous fuzzy-timing Petri net model. The distance-based updating policy, and distributed database management system are reflected in this model and system analysis for moving objects is considered. It is built in Design/CPN so that the simulation can be automatically performed. The application of our model is not limited to requirement analysis, it is useful to study other MOD design issues, such as the trade-offs between update cost and information accuracy, and between the tim interval needed for updating database and MOD system resources, etc.

  • In this paper we design the system test model for the weapon system embedded software based on the Time Factor Method(TFM) considering time factors and suggest the results through the case study. For doing this, we discuss the features, system tests and the object-oriented model based UML notations of the weapon system embedded software. And we give a test method considering time factors, a measuring method to time factors, and a test case selection algorithm as an approach to the TFM for designing the system test model. The TFM based system test model consists of three factors (X, Y, Z) in the weapon system embedded software. With this model, we can extract test cases through the selection algorithm for a maximum time path in 'X', identify the objects related to the Sequence Diagram in 'Y' and measure the execution time of each objects which is identified by the Timing Diagram in 'Z' Also, we present the method of extracting the system test cases by applying the proposed system test model to the 'Multi-function missile defense system'.

  • Recently, a concept of damped outrigger system has been proposed for tall buildings. Structural characteristics and design method of this system were not sufficiently investigated to date. In this study, control performance of damped outrigger system for building structures subjected to seismic excitations has been investigated. And optimal design method of damped outrigger system has been proposed using multi-objective genetic algorithm. To this end, a simplified numerical model of damped outrigger system has been developed. State-space equation formulation proposed in previous research was used to make a numerical model. Multi-objective genetic algorithms has been employed for optimal design of the stiffness and damping parameters of the outrigger damper. Based on numerical analyses, it has been shown that the damped outrigger system control dynamic responses of the tall buildings subjected to earthquake excitations in comparison with a traditional outrigger system.

  • This paper studies on the feedback linearization of the looper system for hot strip mills, where the looper system plays an important role in regulating the strip tension. Firstly, nonlinear dynamic equations of the looper system are simply introduced. Secondly, using the static feedback linearization algorithm, a linear model of the looper system is obtained, of which usefulness is validated from comparison between the linear model and the nonlinear model, and design of LQI(Linear Ouadratic Integral optimal control) and ILQ (Inverse Linear Quadratic optimal control) looper control systems. In result, it is shown that the linear looper model by the feedback linearization well describes nonlin...

  • Among project delivery methods, Design-Build method is becoming an increasingly preferable alternative to traditional contracting method. The Design-Build delivery method was first introduced in Korea, 1975. But it still has been producing many problems. The previous researches had been suggested several ways to improve the Design-Build project delivery but it seemed to have had no effect whatsoever. This research proposes the success model for Design-Build delivery method through the 4 steps. First, find the proper modeling method. Second, establish the As-Is model for analyzing the circumstances of Design-Build method. Third, to begin with analyzing the As-Is Design-Build model and previous researches, establish the problem model. Finally, find success factors and circumstances through the overseas Design-Build system, and then establish the success Design-Build model.
