The gasification technology is a very flexible and versatile technology to produce a wide variety products such as electricity, steam, hydrogen, Fisher-Tropsch(FT) diesels, Dimethyl Ether(DME), methanol and SNG(Synthetic Natural Gas) with near-zero pollutant emissions. Gasification converts coal and other low-grade feedstocks such as biomass, wastes, residual oil, petroleum coke, etc. to a very clean and usable syngas. Syngas is produced from gasifier including CO, $H_2$, $CO_2$, $N_2$, particulates and smaller quantities of $CH_4$, $NH_3$, $H_2S$, COS and etc. After removing pollutants, syngas can be variously used in energy and environment fields. The pilot-scale coal gasification system has been operated since 1994 at Ajou University in Suwon, Korea. The pilot-scale gasification facility consists of the coal gasifier, the hot gas filtering system, and the acid gas removal (AGR) system. The acid gas such as $H_2S$ and COS is removed in the AGR system before generating electricity by gas engine and producing chemicals like Di-methyl Ether(DME) in the catalytic reactor. The designed operation temperature and pressure of the $H_2S$ removal system are below $50^{\circ}C$ and 8 kg/$cm^2$. The iron chelate solution is used as an absorbent. $H_2S$ is removed below 0.1 ppm in the H2S removal system.
This study analyzed the regulatory actions of disposal gas lighters as well as the situations, causes, and preventive measures of fires, and accidents caused by disposal gas lighters. Since child-resistant lighters became mandatory, the percentage of fires caused by playing with fire has decreased in Korea as it did in America and Japan. Fires caused by disposal gas lighters can occur by afterburning, unintentional lighting, large flames, or explosion or bursting as well as by arson and playing with fire. This study suggests the preventive measures of fires caused by disposal gas lighters as follows: Taking a step not to be used as child's tool for playing with fire, the warning of fire cases caused by afterburning, warning of the dangers of leaving disposal gas lighters on the car dashboard or high temperature places, improving the protective synthetic resin cover of the stop part of a vehicle seat rail, and providing information on precautions for keeping in drawers or disposition methods.
Hydrocarbon dew point(HCDP), a property which is the most generally used for describing natural gas condensation, is a very important parameter of natural gas quality specifications. HCDP is strongly influenced by the concentration of the heavier hydrocarbon components, especially $C_6+$, so, along with compliance with gas quality specifications, build up of procedures for obtaining accurate HCDP is essential for gas transmission company, because hydrocarbon condensation present may cause serious operational and safety problems. This study has been carried out in an attempt to measure HCDP accurately by the automatic hydrocarbon dew point meter under the actual field conditions. Measured HCDP also has been compared with calculated HCDP using the composition determined by gas chromatograph and industry accepted equation of state at multiple pressures, along with the cricondentherm. The test results are 1) the automatic hydrocarbon dew point meter was able to measure stable HCDP continuously 2) the automatic hydrocarbon dew point meter has been performed reference measurement by pure propane with a known dew point from literature, and 3) A meaningful differences was observed when comparing the automatic hydrocarbon dew point meter and gas chromatograph results for synthetic standard gas mixtures and real gas mixtures.

Activated carbons are the microporous carbonaceous adsorbents which are prepared from carbon-containing source materials such as wood, coal, lignite, peteroleum and sometimes synthetic high polymers. [1-2] Activated carbons shows an ability to adsorbe hydrocarbons of the gas phase. Activated carbons are used in the purification of many kinds of gas phases like hexane, benzene, toluene, gasoline, phenol etc.[3] In this study, cokes from bitminous coal were activated for the purpose of preparing the activated carbons by steam activation. The effect of the activation temperature, time, steam concentration and flow rate on the n-butane adsorption, burn off, surface area and average pore size of the activated carbons, were investigated. The adsorption characteristics of the activated carbons for gasoline are indirectly estimated by n-butane adsorption.
The model interrupters of $SF_6$ gas electromagnetic contactor whose ratings are 7.2kV, 4.0kA have been designed and manufactured on the basis of theoretical and computational analysis for its development. The eddy current analysis, the magnetic field analysis and the calculation of the rotational force on arcs have been conducted using FLUX2D package. The short circuit current interrupting tests have been conducted for the model interrupters using the simplified synthetic testing facility in KERI. The results show that the model interrupters have sufficient interrupting capability and the new design concept is prefer for good interrupting performance.
The gasification of biomass, sawdust, was carried out in order to investigate gasification characteristics. The experiment was performed using a down-draft fixed bed gasifier to surpass tar components generation in the gasification process. In the experiments, we investigated synthetic gas composition by varying reaction temperature, steam/carbon ratio, and excess ratio (ER), respectively. Higher reaction temperature, $700^{\circ}C$ to $900^{\circ}C$, could obtain higher $H_2$ yield. However, we could not obtain any meaning data by varying S/C ratio. Using $O_2$-LNG burner in the top of the gasifier may surpass water-gas shift reaction by increasing $CO_2$ concentration from the LNG-$O_2$ combustion reaction.
A pyrolysis gas-chromatographic method (Py-GC) was utilized for the identification as well as the content measurement of textile materials. Py-GC was applied to natural cotton fiber, synthetic polyester fiber, and their blended fabrics. The characteristic peaks originated from thermally decomposed products were observed, and the area of peak increased with the content of polyester. The products of pyrolized polyester were identified as benzoic acid terephthalic acid, and vinyl benzoic acid, which were characterized by mass spectrometry. This analytic method of offered a quantitative means to identify the content of cotton and polyester.

The problem of detecting individual differences of chemically similar liquids remains to be unsolved for various areas of the natural sciences, such as medicine, biology, nutrition, and cosmetics 1. This problem is of crucial importance for the cosmetic sciences, including perfumery and aromatherapy. For example, some certain subtle differences of smell and taste between chemically similar liquids are very difficult to detect by using conventional methods of analysis, such as gas chromatography (GC) and the like (except under unique advanced techniques that are expensive, time consuming, and are not readily available). However, a trained human nose and! or mouth of a perfumer and/ or taster can detect differences of that kind. There are two conventional ways to make a fragrance.(omitted)
The synthetic method of tetramethyl-4,4'-diaminobenzophenone accomplished by W. Michler is to pass gaseous carbonyl chloride in dimethylaniline until theoretical value of weight increases at room temperature and synthesize the ketone by heating it at above 120$^{\circ}C. In the result of the experiment to synthesize the ketone by Michler's method, it was observed that if gaseous phosgen was to be used at room temperature according to the method, the gas inhaling tube would be closed up by reaction products (gruel-like crystals) before the theoretical amount of gases passed in and causing difficulty for gas to be produce or inhaled With a view to remove the difficulty, the author examined an article published by W. Michler entitled. "The synthesis of organic acid with phosgen" and guessing that the use of liquid phosgen could overcome the difficulty, succeeded in synthesizing the substance in good yield easily by reacting dimethylaniline with phosgen that was condensed into liquid state.
We propose a new category of hybrid multi-layer neural networks with hetero nodes such as Fuzzy Set based Polynomial Neurons (FSPNs) and Polynomial Neurons (PNs). These networks are based on a genetically optimized multi-layer perceptron. We develop a comprehensive design methodology involving mechanisms of genetic optimization and genetic algorithms, in particular. The augmented genetically optimized HFPNN (namely gHFPNN) results in a structurally optimized structure and comes with a higher level of flexibility in comparison to the one we encounter in the conventional HFPNN. The GA-based design procedure being applied at each layer of HFPNN leads to the selection of preferred nodes (FPNs or PNs) available within the HFPNN. In the sequel, two general optimization mechanisms are explored. First, the structural optimization is realized via GAs whereas the ensuing detailed parametric optimization is carried out in the setting of a standard least square method-based learning. The performance of the gHFPNNs quantified through experimentation where we use a number of modeling benchmarks-synthetic and experimental data already experimented with in fuzzy or neurofuzzy modeling.
