  • We have synthesized phosphor in the system CaO-$Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ by combinatorial polymerized-complex method. The application of combinatorial synthesis and characterization of luminescent materials has been enlarged to identification and optimization in interesting new phosphor. In this study, we investigated luminescent properties of above-mentioned materials by excitation and emission spectra. In $Eu^{2+}$ activated $Ca_1Al_2Si_2O_8$ phosphor emit the blue light.

  • The conventional process in synthesizing mullite powder required high temperature ($1300^{\circ}C$) and long chemical reaction time. Thus the combustion process was used to synthesize the mullite powder in order to reduce the reaction time and temperature. The mixture of metal nitrate, fine silica, and fuel was used as the redox compounds under various experimental conditions. The combustion fire in hot plate experiment in rich, lean and stoichiometry fuel does not produce mullite. However, the obvious mullite, small amount of alumina and cristobalite was observed in the $500^{\circ}C$ pre-heat treatment furnace experiment. The components such as silica, urea, aluminm nitrate should be stoichiometry in order to make a perfect mullite crystal.

  • $Al_2O_3$-TiC composites were prepared from aluminum, titanium oxide, and carbon fibers by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis(SHS). After the SHS reaction, the TiC phase in the sample was found either fibrous or non-fibrous shape. The fraction of the fibrous TiC phase varied with the amount of $Al_2O_3$ diluent addition. The optimum amount of diluent to make fibrous carbide was determined to be 30%. The fibers were hollow inside and made of multiple grains with a composition of titanium carbide. The hollow fiber formation mechanism was suggested and discussed. The synthesized powders were consolidated to dense composites by hot pressing at $1750^{\circ}C$ under 30 MPa.

  • white diamond thin film, which should be compposed of almost ppure diamond, could be successfully obtained under high ppressure conditions(above 150 Torr) by means of MppECVD(microwave pplasma enhanced chemical vappor depposition, ASTeX 1.5 kW). Characteristics of the films with varing expperimental pparameters have been examined. From the expperimental results, we will discuss the surface morpphology and the growth mechanism of the films.

  • The dispersion of carbon nanotubes in composite and their field emission superiority have been discussed. Four synthesis methods have been studied. The CNT-composite, synthesized by the combination of the chemical and mechanical dispersion routes shows superior dispersion as well as field emission characteristics as compared to other syntheses methods.
