  • In a SoC environment, asynchronous design techniques offer solutions for problems of synchronous design techniques. Asynchronous FIFOs have the advantages of easier interconnection methods and higher throughput than synchronous ones. Low latency and high throughput are two imp ortant standards in asynchronous FIFOs. We present low latency asynchronous FIFO in the paper, which optimizes GasP[6]. Pre-layout of HSPICE simulations of a 8-stage FIFO on 1-bit datapath using Anam's 0.25$\mu\textrm{m}$ technology indicates 17% lower latency than GasP.

  • A new synchronous switch controlled transient current build-up zero voltage switching (TCB-ZVS) forward converter is proposed. The proposed converter is suitable for the low-voltage and high-current applications. The features of the proposed converter are low conduction loss of magnetizing current, no additional circuit for the ZVS operation, high efficiency, high power density and low EMI noise throughout all load conditions.

  • Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) which has high power density is usually applied to traction motor for hybrid electric vehicle. In order to analyze characteristics of IPMSM, d- and q-axis equivalent circuit analysis is generally used. However, the line current of IPMSM calculated by d- and q-axis equivalent circuit analysis differ from measured value. This error is mainly appeared under the flux weakening control. In order to reduce the error between calculated and measured line current, no-load linkage flux which is calculated with considering saturation of magnetic core and armature reaction is applied to characteristic analysis. The result of line current calculated by the method dealt with in this paper is verified by comparison with experimental results.

  • Differential Power Analysis(DPA) is powerful attack method for smart card. Self-timed circuit has several advantages resisting to DPA. In that reason, DPA countermeasure using self-timed circuit is thought as one of good solution for DPA prevention. In this paper, we examine what self-timed features are good against DPA, and how much we can get benefit from it. Also we test several self-timed circuit implementation style in order to compare DPA resistance factor. Simulation results show that self-timed circuit is more resistant to DPA than conventional synchronous circuit, and can be used for designing cryptographic hardware for smart-card.

Third Harmonic Injection Circuit to Eliminate Electrolytic Capacitors in Light-Emitting Diode Drivers

  • A new third harmonic injection circuit for light-emitting diode (LED) drivers is proposed to eliminate electrolytic capacitors and thereby extend the lifetime of LED drivers. When a third harmonic current is injected to the input current of the LED driver, the required capacitance of the driver can be reduced. The proposed circuit can control an injection ratio and has simple circuitry. The synchronous third harmonic is generated by a phase locked loop (PLL), a 1/3 counter, and op-amps and applied to a power factor correction circuit. Thus, the storage capacitor can install film capacitors instead of the electrolytic capacitor. The value of storage capacitance can be reduced to 78% compared to an input power factor of 100%. The proposed circuit is applied to the 80W prototype LED driver to experimentally verify the performances.

  • In this paper, high efficiency control method for flyback inverter with synchronous rectifier(SR) based on photovoltaic AC modules is proposed. In this control method, the operation of SR is classified according to the voltage spike across main switch SP. When the voltage spike across SP is lower than the rating voltage of SP, the operation of active clamp circuit is interrupted for reducing the switching loss of auxiliary switch. In this time, the SR is operated for soft-switching of SP. When the voltage spike across Sp is higher than the rating voltage of SP, the operation of active circuit is activated for reducing the voltage spike. The SR is operated for reducing the conduction loss of secondary output diode. Thus, a switching loss of the main switch can be reduced in low power region, and weighted-efficiency can be improved. A theoretical analysis and the design principle of the proposed method are provided. And validity is confirmed through simulation and experimental results.

고효율 공진형 비대칭 하프브리지 플라이백컨버터 (High Efficiency Resonant Asymmetrical Half-Bridge Flyback Converter)

  • 본 논문에서는 고효율 공진형 비대칭 하프브리지 플라이백컨버터가 제안된다. 컨버터의 1차측 하프브리지 회로는 공진커패시턴스와 변압기 누설인덕턴스를 이용하여 비대칭 펄스폭변조(PWM; Pulse-Width Modulation) 방식에 의한 소프트스위칭 형태로 동작한다. 그리고 컨버터 2차측의 플라이백 회로는 간단한 구동회로에 의해 새로운 전압구동방식으로 동작하는 동기정류기를 이용한다. 제안된 컨버터는 이렇게 하여 컨버터의 전체효율을 향상시킨다. 또한 본 논문에서는 제안된 컨버터의 동작원리를 모드별로 설명하고 컨버터 설계 시의 고려사항과 프로토타입 컨버터의 설계 예를 각각 제시한다. 그리고 본 논문에서 제안하는 전압구동방식으로 동작하는 동기정류기의 간단한 구동기법에 관하여 간략하게 설명한다. 설계된 프로토타입 컨버터는 광범위 입력전압(교류 $V_{in,rms}$=75~265[V])이 가능하며 5[V]의 직류 출력전압과 100[W]의 출력전력을 가진다. 제안된 컨버터의 우수한 성능을 입증하기 위하여 설계된 파라미터로써 프로토타입 컨버터를 제작하여 실험하였으며, 이를 통하여 제안된 컨버터의 우수한 성능을 보인다.

협조제어에 의한 2축 연속 회전시스템의 고정도 위치동기 제어 (Precise Position Synchronous Control of Two Axes Rotating Systems by Cooperative Control)

  • This paper deals with a precise position synchronous control by a cooperative control method of two axes rotating systems. First, the system's dynamics including motor drives described by a motor circuit equation and Newton's kinetic formulation about rotating system. Next, based on conventional PID(Proportional, Integral, Derivative) control law, current and speed controller are designed very simply to follow up reference speed correctly under some disturbances. Also, position synchronous controller designed to minimize position errors according to integration of speed errors between two motors. Then, the proposed control enables the distributed drives by a software control algorithm to behave in a way as if they are mechanically hard coupled in axes. Further, the stabilities and robustness or the proposed system are investigated. Finally, the proposed system presented here is shown to be more precise position synchronous motion than conventional systems through some simulations and experiments.

직접 토크 제어를 이용한 릴럭턴스 동기 전동기의 최대 효율제어 (An Optimal Efficiency Control of Reluctance Synchronous Motor using Direct Torque Control)

  • 본 논문은 직접 토오크 제어 (Direct Torque control, DTC)를 이용한 릴럭턴스 동기전동기 (Reluctance Synchronous Motor, RSM)의 최대 효율 제어에 관한 연구이다. 릴럭턴스 동기전동기의 등가모델 해석에 있어서 철손의 영향을 고려하여 이론적으로 분석하였으며, 최대효율제어를 위하여 토크 전류와 여자전류 사이의 최적 각을 유도하였다. 릴럭턴스 동기전동기의 경우는 자속이 전류에 비례하므로 유도전동기와는 달리 자속레벨을 제어하면서 토오크의 동특성을 유지할 수 있다는 특징을 가지고 있으며, 제시된 연구에서는 릴럭턴스 동기전동기의 이러한 특징을 적용하여 직접 토오크 제어의 장점인 빠른 토오크 응답특성을 유지하면서 최대 효율 제어가 이루어지도록 한다. d/q 릴럭턴스 비가 2.57인 1.0 Kw 릴럭턴스 동기전동기를 이용하여 실험을 통해 제안된 방법들의 정당성을 입증하였다.
