People have their own cultural backgrounds and experiences in terms of visual perceptional thinking so that they could misunderstand the cultural symbols, trademarks, Brand Identities, and trade characters, especially, animal trademarks. Sometimes Easterners and Westerners seem to not comprehend the different meanings of the cultural symbols. The signs of twelve Chinese zodiac animals are the typical symbol of the Asian mythology. What I wanted to focus on emphasizing the different views and perspective of an animal trademark is according to the Chinese Zodiac between Eastern and Western cultures. Generally, multiple symbolisms are difficult to comprehend, because they are created by individual ideas and incorporate several mythologies and histories. How do Westerners interpret the implied meaning of Eastern animals in general? How are they going to understand the Eastern animal logos or marks accurately? How can we solve the problem to make people understand their different meanings? There were some confusing pictorial images in the area of the design field when a designer creates an animal mark for globalization and localization. Creating of hybrid symbol is the best way to break the communication barriers with people all around the world.

The study analyzed the characteristic of school uniform, focusing on Ewha Woman's University of Seoul, reflected present trend as well as characteristic and symbol of school and developed uniform design for advertising Ewha Woman's University. The purpose of this study is to propose uniform that can be discriminated from that of other university and increase advertisement effect with mental superiority and pride in university by trying uniform design development, which can provide school and student with satisfaction, and reflecting present trend as well as characteristic and symbol of school. The study is meaningful because it can be basic materials for various uniform designs, connecting function, symbol and trend to uniform development. The uniform for school advertisement was manufactured in a way to reflect characteristic and image of school, escape from fixed idea preferring traditional design in the past and reflect trend. It is expected that the uniform created with symbolic image of school will give high advertisement effect and improve school image by providing student with sense of coherence and discriminated feeling in various events and the meeting with other school students. Moreover, the student wearing the uniform with splendid design will feel mental superiority and have pride in school at the same time. In conclusion, the uniform reflecting trend is proper for the uniform of advertisement helper representing school as long as it can reflect characteristic and image of school. It will be also helpful for developing wider design and more splendid uniform because the study can create the motive to apply trend to other uniform that does not adopt trend.

본 연구의 목적은 중국에서 대표적인 지역 역사 박물관 심벌마크의 조형적 표현 특징과 규칙을 살펴보고 유형별 심벌마크에 대한 중국 소비자의 선호도를 연구하는데 있다. 먼저 중국 상위 100위 내 박물관 중 지역 역사 박물관 심벌마크의 조형적 표현 주제, 표현 유형, 표현 경향을 분석했다. 다음으로 주제와 표현 유형 간의 관계를 통해 디자인 규칙을 연구했다. 마지막으로 설문조사를 통해 주목성, 전달성, 친근성, 독창성, 심미성, 종합 선호도 등 6가지 측면에서 선호도를 분석했다. 연구 결과에 따르면 주제 측면에서 지역 역사 주제를 표현하는 경우가 가장 많았다. 표현 유형의 경우, 구상형과 한자의 형상화를 사용하는 심벌마크가 가장 많았다. 그리고 유형별 표현 내용과 특징을 살펴본 결과, 다음과 같이 몇 가지 특징을 도출할 수 있었다. 먼저, 구상형을 통해 지역 역사, 건축, 지역 자연 생태 환경 주제를 표현하는 경우가 많다. 그리고 추상형을 통해 이념을 표현하고 기하학적 도형을 통해 이념과 건축의 부분적 특징을 표현하였다. 문자, 구상형(건축, 지역 역사, 지역 자연 생태 환경 주제), 추상형(이념 주제) 세 가지 형식을 결합하고 혼합형인 문자의 형상화, 추상 및 문자 혼합형, 구상 및 추상 혼합형, 구상 및 추상 문자 혼합형으로 표현하였다. 조사 결과에 따르면 중국 관람객은 심벌마크 표현 유형에서 구상형, 표현 내용에서 지역 역사 주제에 대한 선호도가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다.

펀(Pun)은 언어사용에 있어서 수사학적 효과를 얻기 위해 사용되던 개념인데 비주얼 커뮤니케이션을 위한 디자인에서도 그 개념이 적용될 수 있다. 언어표현에서의 단어가 상징적 이미지로 대치되어 비주얼 펀(Visual Pun)의 형식으로 커뮤니케이션 디자인을 위한 방법이 될 수 있는 것이다. 비주얼 펀의 표현은 고대의 그림문자에서부터 현대의 회화 디자인 등의 시각 언어를 다루는 모든 분야에서 적용되었다. 시각 커뮤니케이션을 위한 비주얼 펀의 표현 방법은 크게 세 가지로 구분할 수 있다 먼저 상징적 이미지를 통해 두 가지 이상의 의미발생을 하고 그 전체적 의미전달은 직접적으로 표현되는 직설적 펀과, 하나의 상징적 이미지나, 또는 두 개의 상징적 이미지의 결합을 통해 다양한 의미의 발생이 이루어지면서 전체적인 의미를 암시적으로 표현하고 강화하는 것의 연상적 펀이 있다. 그리고 유사한 두 가지의 상징적 이미지를 서로 비교하거나, 유사한 이미지들의 병치를 통해 전체적 의미를 강화하는 비교적 펀으로 정의될 수 있다. 전통적 시각 커뮤니케이션을 위한 문법으로 활용되었던 비주얼 펀의 개념은 다양하고 새롭게 나타나는 매체에서의 시각표현에서도 여전히 유효한 방법이 될 수 있다. 따라서 웹사이트에 나타나는 상징적 이미지의 사용에도 비주얼 펀의 개념이 적용되는 것은 자연스럽다. 웹사이트에서 이미지의 구성형식은 전체 사이트의 차별성을 드러내는 가장 중요한 요소 중의 하나이다. 그러나 현재의 웹사이트는 사용성과 같은 기능 위주의 디자인에 중점을 두다보니 그 형식이 점차 획일화되고 있으며, 이는 일정한 틀이 형성되어 디자이너들이 무의식적으로 따라가는 경향을 보이고 있다. 이런 상황에서 웹 디자인을 위해 비주얼 펀의 개념 적용에 대한 새로운 인식은 웹사이트에서의 상징성을 강화하여 정보전달의 의미를 강화할 수 있는 디자인방법이 될 수 있다. 그로 인해 다른 사이트와 구별되는 차별적 아이덴티티를 확보할 수 있고 보다 효율적인 커뮤니케이션이 이루어지게 하는 디자인 문제 해결을 위한 대안이 될 수 있는 것이다.

In this study, we propose an integrated CAD(Computer Aided Design) library database in a heterogeneous commercial ECAD(Electronic CAD) environment. To effectively solve engineering problems focused on BOM data extraction we use a software system called schematic capture and company-wide standard electronic part information loaded on different commercial ECADs. We unify many commercial ECADs into one schematic capture and a variety of PCB(Printed Circuit Board) design tools. For this purpose we develope a model for linking CAD symbol library with company-wide standard part information. We also develope a schematic design data conversion scheme and show how to extract PBA level BOM data using our customized schematic capture. This system is being operated in an X-Window based engineering work station and commercial RDBMS base.

현대의 디지털통신기기나, 오디오/비디오 전자기기엔 항상 비바이나리 에러정정복부호기가 사용되는데 그중 필수적으로 사용되는 Reed-Solomon 복부호화기기의 설계에 대해 기술했다. 2,3 symbol RS 복호기설계법을 설명 후, 새로운 RS 부호화기의 설계법을 제시한다. 각각의 복부호화기기의 동작여부를 예를들어 test해보고 잘 동작함을 확인했다.
